I guess Jamie Foxx died and went to heaven last night when he and Halle Berry made out on stage at Spike TV’s 2009 “Guys Choice Awards.” He presented Berry with the “Decade of Hotness” Award. She was honored for providing us with years of sexy, sultry scenes while remaining classy. When he presented her with the award, he thanked her with a kiss on the lips and then she took it a step further. She thanked him with a crotch grab while he took a handful of her booty. I wonder what her “baby daddy” has to say about their moves. I hope he wasn’t in the audience watching this ridiculous side show. If you ask me that was totally tasteless and cheap, but then again, I didn’t expect any better from Jamie Foxx. I expected a lot better from Halle Berry, but I guess I was sadly mistaken into thinking she had class.
It never ceases to amaze me at the lengths to which some members of law enforcement will go to prove their mettle. According to Oklahoma’s Tulsa World newspaper, a bizarre fight broke out between a highway patrol officer and a paramedic. The ambulance was carrying a patient heading to the hospital but the siren wasn’t on. Apparently, Trooper Martin intended to issue a “failure to yield” citation to the driver, but he was angered because he believed Maurice White Jr., one of the paramedics, gave him a middle finger. Okay, so does that give him the right to scuffle with this man? I am amazed that he has not been suspended or placed on administrative leave, since it is quite obvious that he used force to subdue Maurice White.
Despite being told that the woman in the ambulance needed to get to the hospital, the trooper insisted that one of the paramedics be detained in his car. When he tried to handcuff a paramedic, a fight ensued, which was filmed by the husband of the patient. Eventually the patrolman allowed the ambulance to go to the hospital. An investigation over the incident “has been turned over to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol’s Internal Affairs Unit and a county prosecutor,” the Tulsa World reports.
All I can say is thank God for modern technology or there would have been no proof of what really happened between the trooper and the paramedic. He needs to be placed on modified duty and not be patrolling the streets.

According to the Wichita Eagle, a suspect in the shooting has been arrested and is in police custody. The police have said that the suspect is 51 years old and the license plate number on a light blue Ford Taurus led to the arrest. The name circulating on the Internet is Scott Roeder, the owner of the Taurus. There is a Scott Roeder who is a member of Operation Rescue. President Obama said that he was “shocked and outraged” by the murder. “However profound our differences as Americans over difficult issues such as abortion, they cannot be resolved by heinous acts of violence,” the president said in a statement issued by the White House.
Of course, a member of the Operation Rescue group has spoken out. Randall Terry, the founder of the group, said that he was more concerned about President Obama’s comments than about the violent death of Dr. Tiller. In his comments, Terry does not grieve for Tiller or denounce the murder but seems more concerned about the president’s reaction and what it bodes for the pro-life movement.
“George Tiller was a mass-murderer. We grieve for him that he did not have time to properly prepare his soul to face God. I am more concerned that the Obama Administration will use Tiller’s killing to intimidate pro-lifers into surrendering our most effective rhetoric and actions. Abortion is still murder. And we still must call abortion by its proper name; murder.
Those men and women who slaughter the unborn are murderers according to the Law of God. We must continue to expose them in our communities and peacefully protest them at their offices and homes, and yes, even their churches.” Source: Huffington Post
Wow, such vitriol. This is certainly not the way to go about reaching a common ground. This man’s murder will not stop the abortion debate one bit.
Abortion doctor, George Tiller, 67, has been shot and killed just after 10 a.m. this morning as he walked to services at the Reformation Lutheran Church in Wichita, Kansas, where he was a member. No information has been released about whether the suspect is in police custody. You will recall that Tiller became a national lightning rod in the debate over abortion. His clinic, Women’s Health Care Services is one of a few in the country where late-term abortions are performed. Protesters blockaded Tiller’s clinic during Operation Rescue’s “Summer of Mercy” protests during the summer of 1991, and Tiller was shot by Rachelle Shannon at his clinic in 1993. He was wounded in both arms and Ms. Shannon remains in prison for the shooting. I scarcely believe murdering Dr. Tiller will put an end to the abortion debate.
Members of the congregation who were inside the sanctuary at the time of the shooting were being kept inside the church by police, and those arriving were being ushered into the parking lot. Witnesses are being transported downtown for interviews and other members of the congregation are slowly being released from inside the sanctuary.
The clinic was severely vandalized earlier this month. His lawyer said wires to security cameras and outdoor lights were cut and that the vandals also cut through the roof and plugged the buildings’ downspouts. Rain poured through the roof and caused thousands of dollars of damage in the clinic. Tiller reportedly asked the FBI to investigate the incident.
Sgt. Bart Brunscheen of the Wichita Police Department said there has been no activity today at Tiller’s clinic, although security crews were being brought in to make sure the building was secure. Officials also were going to check the clinic’s security cameras to see if there was any activity over night.
Tiller and his clinic have faced continuous threats and lawsuits. A Wichita jury ruled in March that he was not guilty of illegal abortion on 19 criminal charges he faced for allegedly violating a state law requiring an “independent” second physician’s concurring opinion before performing later term abortions. Immediately following the ruling in this criminal case, the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts made public a similar complaint against Tiller that was originally filed in December 2008. Tiller’s medical license could eventually be suspended or revoked by the board on the basis of the complaint. Source: Wichita Eagle
There’s a new twist to this murder. Fox News Channel’s Bill O’Reilly had come out forcefully against Dr. Tiller. According to Salon, has characterized him as “a savage on the loose,” saying he’s guilty of “Nazi stuff,” and “a moral equivalent to NAMBLA and al-Qaida.” He has said that Tiller “destroys fetuses for just about any reason right up until the birth date for $5,000.” I hope that people will remind Bill O’Reilly of all the incendiary things he said about this man and about others with whom he has philosophical and ideological differences. I am in no way inferring that O’Reilly is the cause of this man’s untimely death, but we must end the character assassinations that can foment such animosity.
Killing Dr. Tiller will certainly not put an end to the sometimes heated debate about abortion. It will cause the issue to be brought front and center once more. Though I am personally against abortion, nonetheless, I believe it isn’t my right to tell another woman what she can and cannot do with her body, nor should it be the right of the government to intervene in such a personal and painful decision.
It is unconscionable that someone could seek to capitalize off the injury of anyone, much less an injured police officer. Rasaan Shannon, 22, has been arrested and charged with strong arm robbery, disarming a peace officer and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon. He allegedly stole the gun from the police officer, Densey Cole II, who was critically injured and pinned inside his police SUV last Wednesday. Of course, he should have known that he would have been caught, but nonetheless, this dirtbag just couldn’t help himself. He just had to steal the gun and later claim he “found” it. His brazen actions are reprehensible and should be severely punished to send the right message that what was done to that officer will not be tolerated one iota. His bond was set at $300,000 Saturday during a bond hearing in front of Cook County Judge Donald Panarese. With any luck, he won’t be able to post the 10 percent and will sit in jail until his trial is due to start.
Police said Officer Cole was responding to a burglary in progress when he was injured in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of West 98th and South Halsted streets about 11:45 a.m. Wednesday. Four other people were also injured in the wreck. While he was pinned in his vehicle after the crash, onlookers rifled through his belongings and Shannon allegedly stole his gun. Edward Blackledge, 85, of the 9700 block of South Emerald Avenue, was cited with failure to reduce speed and failure to yield to a vehicle entering an intersection, police said.
“Whoever would prey on a wounded officer, incapacitated, and take his weapon and then roll him around with a spinal injury to try to steal his wallet, is reprehensible to me,” police Supt. Jody Weis said. “I mean, what type of individual would do that? It’s beyond imagination.” Cole has been a Chicago Police officer for 16 years, and his parents were also officers, officials said. Source: Chicago Sun Times
Department officials have also expressed concern that the removal of the gun from Cole’s holster had caused him to shift in a way that contributed to his injuries. So, this alleged criminal may have exacerbated the injuries of this police officer. Shameful and reprehensible. Since he is a convicted felon, the judge should sentence him to the maximum allowable under the law.
Hat tip to Lee, a commenter to another blog commentary, for sending me the link to this story!
I came across an interesting article during my morning perusal of a ton of online newspapers and I was absolutely amazed at the hubris of Stanislav Mishin, a Russian blogger. His article appeared in Pravda and pokes fun at the so-called descent of the United States into Marxism at a rapid pace. He said “the proud American will go down into his slavery with out a fight, beating his chest and proclaiming to the world, how free he really is. The world will only snicker.” I have to wonder how stable the Russian economy is at this time. According to BBC News, Russia’s deputy economic Minister Andrei Klepach said the economy contracted sharply in April, shrinking by 10.5 percent from the same month a year ago. The data came as officials were quoted as saying Russia would have a budget deficit equivalent to nine percent of GDP in 2009, from an earlier 7.4 percent prediction. This man better than anyone else should understand the implications of the economic collapse Russia experienced, that played a great role in the break-up of the Soviet Union. Before Mikhail Gorbachev came to power, the Soviet Union’s economy had already developed serious problems. They were building arms at a breathtaking speed, but were unable to feed their citizens. So, I advise Mr. Mishin not to be so smug and laugh at the economic issues confronting America, as though Russia was a virtual paradise.
Industrial output in Russian has slowed in the wake of the global economic slowdown and many investors have fled Russia in droves. Additionally, there are fears that poverty levels are rising, with, according to the BBC News, Russian churches reporting a rise in the number of people seeking free meals as a result of the global financial crisis. Even President Dmitry Medvedev gave downbeat comments on the country’s economy and called for sharp cutbacks in government spending in a “shift to a regime of tough economising of budget funds.” So, I find it rather hypocritical that Mr. Mishin could paint such an ugly picture of what is happening in America today without taking a look at his own country.
Those lessons were taken and used to properly prepare the American populace for the surrender of their freedoms and souls, to the whims of their elites and betters.
First, the population was dumbed down through a politicized and substandard education system based on pop culture, rather then the classics. Americans know more about their favorite TV dramas then the drama in DC that directly affects their lives. They care more for their “right” to choke down a McDonalds burger or a BurgerKing burger than for their constitutional rights. Then they turn around and lecture us about our rights and about our “democracy.” Pride blind the foolish.
Then their faith in God was destroyed, until their churches, all tens of thousands of different “branches and denominations” were for the most part little more then Sunday circuses and their televangelists and top protestant mega preachers were more then happy to sell out their souls and flocks to be on the “winning” side of one pseudo Marxist politician or another. Their flocks may complain, but when explained that they would be on the “winning” side, their flocks were ever so quick to reject Christ in hopes for earthly power. Even our Holy Orthodox churches are scandalously liberalized in America.
The final collapse has come with the election of Barack Obama. His speed in the past three months has been truly impressive. His spending and money printing has been a record setting, not just in America’s short history but in the world. If this keeps up for more then another year, and there is no sign that it will not, America at best will resemble the Wiemar Republic and at worst Zimbabwe.
These past two weeks have been the most breath taking of all. First came the announcement of a planned redesign of the American Byzantine tax system, by the very thieves who used it to bankroll their thefts, loses and swindles of hundreds of billions of dollars. These make our Russian oligarchs look little more then ordinary street thugs, in comparison. Yes, the Americans have beat our own thieves in the shear volumes. Should we congratulate them? Source: Pravda
I will concede one point he has made and that is the educational standard in America has fallen and it is a shame. We are lagging so many other countries that it is mind boggling that we have lost our competitive edge, educationally speaking, so quickly. Call America whatever you will, we are still set the tone for whatever happens globally. If our economy is in shambles, most countries across the globe are also in shambles. I cannot agree that President Barack Obama has made the situation worst. He inherited a country that was confronting serious economic problems that will most likely not be fixed in his first term in office.
A new controversy is brewing, thanks to Rep. Charlie Rangel. He made a snide remark earlier today in which he suggested that even President Obama was at risk on the streets of Harlem after Edwards was slain by a white colleague. He was asked what advice he would offer Obama for the president’s Saturday night visit to the city. “Make certain he doesn’t run around in East Harlem unidentified,” Rangel shot back while leaving a public appearance. Let’s see who runs with this. More to come….
I was appalled to learn that an off-duty rookie cop, Omar Edwards, 25, who was chasing a suspected car thief in East Harlem with his gun drawn was shot and killed Thursday night when Officer Andrew Dunton, an officer mistook him for a criminal. The problem wll be magnified because it was a white cop who mistook the black cop for a criminal. Ouch. “Police! Stop! Drop it!” cops from the 25th Precinct shouted at Edwards. According to the NY Daily News, as he started to turn toward him – the gun still in his hand – an officer opened fire. I must point out that it is being reported that Edwards had no visible NYPD identification on him, nor is it clear if he identified himself. I worry about the fallout from this senseless killing and a potential cover-up by the cops involved. This is always the fear of a black cop on any police force — being mistaken for a criminal because of the color of one’s skin. This is a senseless tragedy and I cannot understand why it happened. If the guy was not firing or pointing a gun at the cops, then why did they kill him?
One dejected cop said Edwards “just became a new father. He took some personal time so he could take the baby to North Carolina to meet his folks.” Edwards’ mother, Natalia Harding, said her son had just married his girlfriend, Danielle Glen, last month at City Hall. They have two kids – 11/2-year-old Xavier and 7-month-old Keanua.
NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly said Edwards, who had been on the force less than two years and worked out of a Manhattan housing unit, had left work about 10:30 p.m. He was in street clothes as he walked toward his car parked about a block away on Second Ave. between E. 124th and E. 125th St., where he saw Miguel Santiago rummaging through the vehicle. The driver’s side window was busted out. Edwards grabbed Santiago, who managed to slip out of his sweater and escape Edwards’ grip, Kelly said. Gun drawn, Edwards gave chase.
At the same time, three plainclothes officers in an unmarked car saw Edwards running down the street. The car made a U-turn, and one of the officers, a white cop with more than four years on the job, got out and fired six shots – hitting Edwards twice, once in the left arm and once in the chest, Kelly said. Edwards did not fire his weapon. Cops discovered Edwards was one of them when rescue crews cut open his shirt to treat the bleeding and saw a police academy shirt. They then searched his pockets and found his shield, sources said. Source: NY Daily News
The second issue for me, besides race, deals with the departmental procedures in place involving communications among plainclothes officers — particularly those in different units. There must be a way in which these cops can identify one another instead of resorting to firing their weapons. I hope some positive changes will come out of this tragedy. Mr. Kelly identified the officer who fired the shots only as a four-year veteran of the department, and said he had fired six rounds from his 9-millimeter Glock. Two bullets struck Officer Edwards.
This shooting death speaks volumes to the issue many black men have with law enforcement being trigger-happy. My father was pulled over and threatened by a NYPD officer a few years ago for no other reason but racial profiling. How many other black men have had similar run-ins with law enforcement? They cannot just make an assumption that because this man is black he is automatically a suspect of some type. Shameful and just plain wrong. I cannot imagine that this shooting death will help race relations in New York City, which has been hanging by a thread between blacks and the NYPD. It is my hope that the truth will prevail and there won’t be a cover-up. A thorough investigation must be launched and arrests must be made.
Now you know this is a lowdown dirty shame that a journalist can compromise her self-respect and dignity by being forcibly removed from a press area near Air Force One shortly before President Barack Obama arrived at Los Angeles International Airport to depart California early Thursday. Secret Service personnel remove Brenda Lee, a writer for Macon’s Georgia Informer, from near Air Force One after Lee attempted to give President Obama a letter. Airport security officers carried the woman away by the feet and arms as she protested her removal.
She said she has White House press credentials. Lee reportedly said in an interview that she wanted to hand Obama a letter urging him “to take a stand for traditional marriage.” She said she asked a Secret Service agent to give the president her letter, but he refused and referred her to a White House staffer. Lee said she refused to give the staffer the letter.
“I said, ‘I’ll take my chances if (the president) comes by here,'” said Lee, who identified herself as a Roman Catholic priestess who lives in Anaheim, Calif. “He became annoyed that I wouldn’t give him the letter.”
Lee, who was wearing what she described as a cassock, said she protested when she was asked to leave. “I said, ‘Why are you bothering me?’ They escorted me outside the gate,” she said. She said security officers allowed her to return when she promised she would not yell or wave, but then other officers arrived and told her to leave. “I said, ‘I’m not leaving,'” she said. “They tried to drag me out.”
Two officers then picked her up and carried her out. An Associated Press photographer photographed the incident. “I was afraid you could see under my clothes,” she said, her voice choking up. Source: NBC Los Angeles
I know that this woman will be fodder for the late night comics tonight and I can’t say I blame them. This was a disgrace and she ought to be kicked off the newspaper for her unprofessional behavior.
The last thing anyone would ever suspect 80 year old Sara Jane Moore of trying to assassinate a president of the United States. This affable grandmotherly woman spent 32 years in prison for attempting to assassinate President Gerald Ford. On September 22, 1975 in San Francisco, she fired a shot at the president that missed his head by several feet. She was wrestled to the ground by a bystander before she was taken into custody by the authorities. Besides the fact that she attempted to commit a horrible crime, it is important to look at her motivation and circle of friends that led her to that moment. She was a 45-year-old divorced mother who hung around disaffected groups feeding her alienation. I remember a cardinal lesson I learnt at an early age from my mother — people know you by the company you keep. That has stuck with me throughout my entire life.
Looking back on the incident, she says of her earlier self that it seems like a “different person.” She sees the genesis of her assassination attempt as stemming from her immersion in radical leftist groups that were pushing her to the edge, and that she was alienated from the world as it was and needed to do something about it. It’s unclear why she felt killing President Ford would have done anything about it, but she declares that to this day she believes if she hadn’t made the attempt someone else would have:
Oh, I still think that. If I hadn’t done it, someone else would have. That was the tenor of the time. There was more talk about it than people realize. Again, I thought that what was happening to us there in San Francisco was the whole world and it wasn’t. I had to learn later that everybody didn’t feel that way.
Some six of her 32 two years spent behind bars was in solitary confinement. She escaped from prison in 1979 but was promptly recaptured. In hindsight Moore believes that the action was wrong, although “understandably wrong, but that’s just my ego talking.” Source: Huffington Post
It’s amazing how strong peer pressure is and just being in the wrong frame of mind and surrounding yourself with people who feed off that. I must say that personal responsibility plays a big role in one’s actions. She knew quite clearly that she was attempting to assassinate the president of the United States and did it anyway. I hope she has come to terms with her actions and she has paid her dues to society. I hope she will live out the sunset years of her life in peace and find the happiness that eluded her 32 years ago that led her down a very dark and lonely road.
Since when does one have to get government approval to hold a bible study in one’s home? Well, it seems that, according to 10News, a local San Diego pastor and his wife have claimed that they were interrogated by a county official, who then threatened them with escalating fines if they continued to hold bible studies in their home. The county employee reportedly notified the couple that the small bible study, with an average of 15 people attending, was in violation of county regulations. So, do you need county approval to have a Tupperware party? Whatever happened to freedom of speech and the freedom to exercise their religion in this county? It seems that Christianity is under siege in America and for all the wrong reasons. I am a part of a small group of women who meet regularly and the county doesn’t interfere in what we are doing. Aren’t there more important issues that the county needs to confront than worry about someone holding bible studies in the privacy of their own homes?
In a media interview attorney Dean Broyles of The Western Center For Law & Policy said, “The county asked, ‘Do you have a regular meeting in your home?’ She said, ‘Yes.’ ‘Do you say amen?’ ‘Yes.’ ‘Do you pray?’ ‘Yes.’ ‘Do you say praise the Lord?’ ‘Yes.'”
Broyles said a few days later the couple received a written warning that listed “unlawful use of land” and told them to “stop religious assembly or apply for a major use permit” — a process that could cost tens of thousands of dollars.
“For churches and religious assemblies there’s big parking concerns, there’s environmental impact concerns when you have hundreds or thousands of people gathering. But this is a different situation, and we believe that the application of the religious assembly principles to this bible study is certainly misplaced,” said Broyles.
Broyles also said this case has broader implications. “If the county thinks they can shut down groups of 10 or 15 Christians meeting in a home, what about people who meet regularly at home for poker night? What about people who meet for Tupperware parties? What about people who are meeting to watch baseball games on a regular basis and support the Chargers?” said Broyles. Broyles and his clients plant to give the county their demand letter this week. If the county refuses to release the pastor and his wife from obtaining the permit, they will consider a lawsuit in federal court. Source: 10News
It is so important that people take note of what goes on in their communities. Take the time to learn about your elected officials and those that are desirous of holding a particular office. You have to look at their agendas and the things that are important to them, that could very well impact your lives if they are elected. So, it’s okay to have a 10 people over for drinks but you can’t have people over for bible study. This is crazy and a clear violation of the couple’s rights under the Constitution.
