Johnny Palermo, "Everybody Hates Chris," Girlfriend Alessandra Giangrande, Die in Early Morning Car Crash

According to media reports, television actor Johnny Palermo died June 8 in a fatal car accident. Palermo, 27, and girlfriend Alessandra Giangrande, who was driving at the time, were both killed in an early morning crash in North Hollywood. Giangrande’s brother, also a passenger, survived the crash, but suffered serious injuries.

The Palermo had a short but substantial career, appearing in such hit shows as “Everybody Hates Chris,” “How I Met Your Mother,” “CSI: Miami,” and the Nickelodeon series “Just for Kicks.” The cause of the crash has not been determined. It is a sad turn of events. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the deceased.

Remedy Smith, 11 Months Old, and Mother Latoya Smith, Gina Rosario, 6, Another Child, Killed After Motorcycle Thief’s Car Jumps Curb in Police Chase

A dirtbag fleeing police after stealing a motorcycle, plowed his car into a crowd in Feltonville, Pa., last night, killing three children and the mother of one of them. A bystander said that he saw the bodies of two of the children who appeared to have been dismembered and a girl pinned under the car. The two of the deceased are 11-month old Remedy Smith, 7-year-old, Gina Marie Rosario and Remedy’s mother, Latoya Smith has succumbed to the injuries she sustained from the accident. This is a senseless tragedy that should not have occurred. Where is the justification for the police engaged in a high speed chase in a residential area? The protection of citizens should be paramount, not secondary. Sorry, the cops were just as complicit in the chase as the scumbag who caused the deaths of these innocent kids. There’s a big difference between a high speed chase on a freeway and one in a residential area.

Lt. Frank Vanore, a police spokesman, gave this account:

At 7:29 p.m. at Fisher and Rising Sun Avenues in Olney, two men took a Yamaha motorcycle at gunpoint. One rode off on the Yamaha; the other fled in a silver Pontiac Grand Am.

At 7:31, an officer spotted the Pontiac at C Street and Roosevelt Boulevard and began chasing it.

The Pontiac turned south on Third and jumped the curb just south of Annsbury, Vanore said. It struck four people: three children younger than 10 – one a toddler – and a woman who was the mother of one of the victims, he said.

Two of the children were pronounced dead at the scene. Another was pronounced dead at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children. The woman, who is in her 20s, was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center in critical condition. The high-speed crash was so violent that the Pontiac was totaled and ended up wedged between a rowhouse and a utility pole. Source:

So, here’s the problem I have with this whole situation, besides the fact that law enforcement has decided not to release the name of the criminal for now. Why was there a high-speed chase through a neighborhood? The police said they spotted the car minutes after receiving a report of a stolen motorcycle and pursued it for about a mile. Aren’t there tactics the police could have employed to disable the vehicle the dirtbag was driving? The car jumped the curb with such force it crushed the concrete steps of one of the row houses. It became wedged between a house and a pole. Authorities said that the woman it hit is the mother of at least one of the dead children, all of whom were under age 10. These children were killed senselessly. Of course, the suspect did not sustain life threatening injuries and the stolen motorcycle was recovered several blocks away from the scene of the accident. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the victims and to Latoya Smith, I pray for her speedy recovery.

African American Legislators Pearl Burris, Dan Blue Vote for Resolution to Honor the late Jesse Helms, as 26 NC Lawmakers Declined to Cast Votes

Talk about another racist politician — GOP’s late Jesse Helms. Apparently 26 North Carolina legislators sat out a vote Tuesday on a resolution honoring the late U.S. Sen. Jesse Helms, showing that the Republican remains a polarizing figure a year after his death. Another racist person connected to the right wing. Most of the holdouts were black Democrats such as Sen. Floyd McKissick. Helms opposed the 1964 Civil Rights Act as a commentator and voted against its reauthorization once in the Senate. I don’t blame these 26 legislators for their decision. How can you vote for a resolution to honor someone who has had such a divisive history and strong anti-civil rights principles. In all that I have read, I cannot find one good thing that Jesse Helms did for anyone, perhaps except people who shared his views. To think that two African American legislators, Rep. Pearl Burris and state Sen. Dan Blue, embraced this resolution as though Jesse Helms’ civil rights record was second to none is an affront to blacks in this country.

Here’s what unnerved me in this resolution, the comments of a black Republican. “He stepped forward when this country needed an anchor,” said Rep. Pearl Burris-Floyd, R-Gaston, the Legislature’s only black Republican. Must we always have an turncoat in the midst. Jesse Helms was an anchor? To whom? This is the same person who led a filibuster, thankfully an unsuccessful one, to stall efforts to make Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday a national holiday. Wait, there’s more. One more Uncle Tom in the midst. Sen. Dan Blue, D-Wake, voted to honor Helms despite being “diametrically opposed” to the GOP icon on nearly every political issue. He said that “it’s about the people Jesse Helms represented. Once he’s gone and he’s dead, it stops being about Jesse Helms.”

Sixteen out of the state House’s 20 black members and five out of nine black senators skipped the vote that came after speeches praising Helms’ integrity, honesty and patriotism. They were joined by a handful of white Democrats and the only American Indian, a Democrat. The Senate voted 41-1 for the Helms resolution, and the House 98-0. The single dissenting vote came from Sen. Julia Boseman, D-New Hanover, the Legislature’s first openly gay member. Source: Google News

I applaud those 26 legislators that took a stand for equality. How can you justify voting for a resolution to honor a man who had such a racist and divisive past?

Fox News Channel’s Shepard Smith Says His Email Is Becoming "More And More Frightening"

Shepard Smith and Geraldo Rivera are the only two people from the Fox News Channel that I can tolerate and who I consider to be fair in their views. Shepard sounded a warning yesterday that I must say was chilling and a reality check of the anger that is simmering in the United States. Why is Fox News sitting on its laurels and taking these emails casually? Why haven’t the more incendiary ones been turned over to Homeland Security? I am glad Shepard Smith stepped up to the plate and did the right thing. When you have people like Rush Limbaugh, saying that Barack Obama and God have one thing in common, no birth certificate, what type of rhetoric and reaction do you expect from people on the fringe? Michelle Malkin, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Mike Savage, Bill O’Reilly and all the other nuts are fomenting a breed of overt racism not seen in recent times.

Glenn Beck Says White Supremacist James von Brunn, Holocaust Museum Shooter, a Left-Wing Nut

Fox News’ Glenn Beck, moron extraordinaire, said that James von Brunn is a left-wing nutcase. Wow, really Glenn? Why Fox News pays this idiot so much money to utter such obvious mistruths is amazing. Here’s a link to the video from “Crooks and Liars.” Never mind the fact that he continues to spew an extremist ideology from his show on a daily basis. I never thought for a minute that I would see, in my lifetime, white supremacy rearing its ugly head in such public places and with such effrontery. These people have become emboldened, not by the policies of President Obama, but because the right-wing is fanning the flames and fomenting this anger. It’s amazing that the Republicans don’t want the prisoners from Guantanamo Bay to be housed in U.S. prisons, but we have been confronting home-grown terrorists in growing numbers today. What are you going to do James von Brunn? Send him to another country to be imprisoned? Isn’t he as much of a threat to America as one of these terrorists being housed at Gitmo?

Here are Glenn Beck’s comments yesterday as excerpted from “Crooks and Liars:”

Beck: This guy is a lone gunman nutjob. … You’re going to see a lot of nutjobs coming out of the woodwork now. There are two very important things that are happening here. First one: It’s what I talked about two years ago, um, when I talked about the “Perfect Storm” — I said that there is a storm formulating. And it is the economy, it is political correctness, it’s corruption in Washington, it’s militant Islam. It’s all of these things.

I said when it comes onshore, there’s going to be a “go go go” mentality. And that’s what this is. There is a mentality in our enemies. Our country is now vulnerable. Those people who would like to destroy us — our enemies like, uh, Al Qaeda. There are also enemies like white supremacists or 9/11 Truthers who would also like to destroy the country. They’ll work with anybody they can.

… We are under attack in almost every shape and form in America. We need to look out for enemies foreign and domestic.

Second: There is gonna be a witchhunt, I believe, in this country, and quite possibly all around the world. For two groups. First group: Jews. It happens every time. Second group: I think, Conservatives.

… Meanwhile, the Department of Homeland Security reports about right-wing extremists. You remember that came out a few weeks ago? Left-wing bloggers and some in the media have blamed conservative hosts like me or Bill O’Reilly for just stirring the pot! I’m not stirring the pot. I’m pointing out the pot is boiling and there is trouble in America. Since when — have you ever heard of ‘don’t blame the messenger’?

This is not the work of right-wing conservatives. This is the work of someone today who is racist, crazy, or most likely, both. Common sense tells you that there are very hateful people on the Right and the Left. Source: Crooks and Liars

It is quite obvious that this lunatic was extremely far right. I think that the right-wing fanatics, including Michelle Malkin, should accept the driftwood that shares many of the same views as they do. Take a look at his record:

Von Brunn has a long history of associations with prominent neo-Nazis and Holocaust deniers. In the 1980s or early 1990s, von Brunn was employed by Noontide Press, a part of the Holocaust denying Institute of Historical Review, which was then run by Willis Carto, one of America’s most prominent anti-Semites.

Von Brunn is the author of the 1999 book, “Kill the Best Gentiles,” a racist and anti-Semitic tome that argues that whites are seeing “today on the world stage a tragedy of enormous proportions: the calculated destruction of the White Race and the incomparable culture it represents. Europe, former fortress of the West, is now over-run by hordes of non-Whites and mongrels.” A raging anti-Semite, von Brunn blames “The Jews” for the destruction of the West. The book is dedicated to prominent neo-Nazis and racists including Revilo Oliver and Wilmot Robertson.

In 2003, AP reported that von Brunn had painted a portrait of Rear Adm. John Crommelin, a raging anti-Semite who was a close associate of neo-Nazi William Pierce, whose book The Turner Diaries inspired Timothy McVeigh’s bombing of the Oklahoma City federal building. Source: Crooks and Liars

The Rethuglicans need to accept the fact that they are inspiring this movement towards home-grown terrorism. When you have the head of News Corp., Rupert Murdoch, saying that President Obama is a dangerous man, what do you expect a right wing nut to say? Don’t forget Minnesota’s Michelle Bachmann’s incendiary comments about the president. What else do you honestly expect to happen? So, Glenn Beck, get your facts right, this raging lunatic isn’t left wing. This POS is all yours.
