Jerry L. Guy Arrested in Hit-and-Run Accident that Caused Death of 4-Y.O. Marietta, Ga. Boy

Jerry L. Guy arrested in hit-and-run accident that caused death of four year old Marietta, Ga., boy. Being held without bond.

Jerry L. Guy, 47, was arrested after allegedly striking and killing a four-year old boy, who was crossing a busy street with his mother and two sisters, in Marietta, Ga. What is equally disturbing is the fact that Guy left the scene of the accident. The other charges he faces include, homicide by vehicle 1st degree, duty to report accident resulting in death or injury, cruelty to children.

According to 11 Alive News, investigators believe Guy was the one drove the van that struck Raquel L. Nelson, 29, and her three children while crossing Austell Road near the Somerpoint Apartments in Marietta around 9:30 p.m. Saturday.  All were transported to WellStar Cobb Hospital.  Her 4-year-old son, who was directly hit by the van, died later from his injuries.  Nelson and her 2-year-old daughter were treated and released while her 9-year-old daughter was uninjured.

Guy is being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.  With the right judge, he won’t see the outside of prison walls for the rest of his life.

UPDATE: Raquel Nelson, mother of the four year old child killed by Guy, is facing three years in prison for jaywalking, more time that Jerry Guy served behind bars. This is a travesty and a gross miscarriage of justice.
