Brooklyn teen Alfredo Allen is in critical condition after he was stabbed repeatedly in the head with a pair of scissors by Chevoy Nelson, 16, at Erasmus Hall High School.  According to the NY Daily News, students said the fight started because Chevoy Nelson was upset because Alfredo Allen stole the ball from him during a lunchtime pickup game. Are you kidding me?

Nelson – described by a school source as a special ed student who is emotionally disturbed – was arrested for assault with a weapon, the Education Department confirmed. The two teens were playing basketball in the third floor gym during lunch when Allen took the ball and wouldn’t give it to the increasingly angry Nelson. The furious teen punched Allen in the face then ran out to look for a weapon, witnesses said. This is tough, but why did the school mainstream emotionally students with regular students? Particularly since Chevoy Nelson seems to have an anger management issue. This is a sad, sad turn of events. I pray Alfredo Allen will pull through. There has been so much tragedy in this holiday season. What a way to celebrate Christmas. Chevoy Nelson was arrested and charges against him are pending.

This is getting interesting, but one thing is certain, Vanessa Bryant is about to get PAID.

Cassie Wright, UT College Republicans Leader, Tweets “My President is Black, He Snorts Crack”

Cassie Wright, University of Texas College Republicans president, tweets, “my president is black, he snorts a lot of crack” in a racist dig against President Barack Obama.

Cassie Wright, UT College Republicans Leader, Tweets "My President is Black, He Snorts Crack" (Twitter)

Cassie Wright, (Cassandra Wright) president of the College Republicans at The University of Texas has sunk to a new low with her Tweet: “My president is black, he snorts a lot of crack. Holla. #2012 #Obama.” The College Republicans are known for their racist rants against blacks and it’s a sad commentary that Cassie Wright believes that being black is tied to crack cocaine use. Cassie Wright’s tweet comes after former president Lauren Pierce also sent out a questionable tweet calling for President Obama’s assassination.

I don’t have an issue with anyone who disagrees with President Obama. I have on many occasions. I don’t like many of the things the Democratic Party stands for, but I will not be a member of the Republican Party, when there are factions that denigrate blacks in this country. Sorry, they can’t have it both ways. Cassie Wright and the College Republicans should apologize for this vile racist rhetoric.

It should also be noted that Cassie Wright took her vile racist rhetoric to Facebook as well, saying Young Jeezy uses derogatory language as well. Um, I didn’t realize we are talking about Young Jeezy, as though his poor behavior gives her carte blanche to engage in her brand of racism. Her abysmal statements are meant to denigrate and dehumanize President Obama, the nation’s first black president, as nothing other than a drug user with ties to a drug dealer. How many college students across this country have experimented with marijuana once or twice in their lives? Does that disqualify them for running for higher office, or it’s okay with just the white students and not the black and Latino students?

The racial overtones espoused by Cassie Wright are right in line with President Obama being forced to produce his birth certificate and his acceptance to Harvard University is somehow being attributed to affirmative action. It’s time for Cassandra Wright, AKA Cassie Wright to resign as president of the University of Texas College Republicans.

Paul Krugman Rips Politifact Over “Lie of the Year: Republicans Voted to End Medicare”

Paul Krugman rips Politifact over “Lie of the Year” claim. I knew when GOP presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann started saying Politifact was vouching her claims, that they were on their way out as a source for political fact-checking. Now, they may have outdone themselves with the “Lie of the Year 2011: Republicans voted to end Medicare.”

Paul Krugman writes: “This is really awful.  Politifact, which is supposed to police false claims in politics, has announced its Lie of the Year — and it’s a statement that happens to be true, the claim that Republicans have voted to end Medicare.”

How is this not an end to Medicare? And given all the actual, indisputable lies out there, how on earth could saying that it is be the “Lie of the year”?

The answer is, of course, obvious: the people at Politifact are terrified of being considered partisan if they acknowledge the clear fact that there’s a lot more lying on one side of the political divide than on the other. So they’ve bent over backwards to appear “balanced” — and in the process made themselves useless and irrelevant.

Steve Benen writes:  “This is simply indefensible. Claims that are factually true shouldn’t be eligible for a Lie of the Year designation.

It’s unnerving that we have to explain this again, but since PolitiFact appears to be struggling with the relevant details, let’s set the record straight.

Medicare is a single-payer health care system offering guaranteed benefits to seniors. The House Republican budget plan intended to privatize the existing system and replace it with something very different — a voucher scheme. It would still be called “Medicare,” but it wouldn’t be Medicare.”

President Obama the Fourth Best President, Next to Johnson, FDR, Lincoln?

President Obama told 60 Minutes, in a portion of the interview that conveniently did not air that his that his accomplishments so far as president rank pretty high, historically speaking, that is.  Would that make him the fourth best president?

President Obama: “The issue here is not gonna be a list of accomplishments. As you said yourself, Steve, you know, I would put our legislative and foreign policy accomplishments in our first two years against any president — with the possible exceptions of Johnson, F.D.R., and Lincoln — just in terms of what we’ve gotten done in modern history. But, you know, but when it comes to the economy, we’ve got a lot more work to do. And we’re gonna keep on at it.”

Well, let’s see, Lyndon B. Johnson, Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln stood up to the opposition and never backed down. They didn’t come across as vacillating or ineffective. They realized that they couldn’t be everyone’s friends and governed accordingly.

I recall during the dust-up over Arizona State University conferring a honorary degree on President Obama during his appearance to deliver the commencement address, he said he understood their reluctance to grant him such an honor because his “body of work” has yet to come. So, isn’t it a little presumptuous to infer that your accomplishments thus far put you right up there with the “best” when your first term isn’t even finished?

Comedian Jackie Mason Rips President Obama Over Hanukkah Event as “Condescending Outreach Effort”

Comedian Jackie Mason rips President Obama over his Hanukkah event, saying it was insincere and a condescending outreach effort to Jewish voters.

Comedian Jackie Mason Rips President Obama Over Hanukkah Event as "Condescending Outreach Effort" (Wikipedia)

Comedian Jackie Mason is dissing President Barack Obama’s Hanukkah event held earlier this month, saying it was insincere and condescending outreach effort to Jewish voters. Um, Jackie Mason is still alive? He has insulted so many people in his jokes, I am surprised he’s taking offense to the perceived actions of someone else. Here’s an excerpt of his rant from Politico:

“I don’t even think he knew that he was talking about something that’s Jewish. It could have been Muslim, it could have been all together a religion he never even heard of. He doesn’t know, he doesn’t care. He’s strictly in there to take a picture, and the picture could have been about anything,” Mason told Aaron Klein of WABC in New York City.

The White House held the celebration on December 8th, though the Jewish holiday begins its eight night run on December 20th. “The way I see it, we’re just extending the holiday spirit,” the President said at the event. “We’re stretching it out. But we do have to be careful that your kids don’t start thinking Hanukkah lasts 20 nights instead of eight. That will cause some problems.”

Mason continued his assault on the President, saying that the event was just a stunt to up his poll numbers with the Jewish community.

“A bunch of advisors, most of whom are Jewish anyways — because he has more Jews in his cabinet than Netanyahu. He’s jammed up with Jews all around him — and they told him, if you wanna get them back, Hanukkah is a good idea,” he said. “You don’t have to go any place. We’ll put down the tchotchke and you’ll see a candle, you’ll light it from this side, and that’s enough information for him to accumulate without a teleprompter. So he did it in 10 minutes.”

Er, don’t we have more important things to worry about than a washed-up, not-so-funny comedian’s rant? Here’s what I am wondering about? Why is President Obama’s family taking a 17-day vacation in Hawaii to the tune of a whopping $4 million when there are still millions of Americans out of work? His predecessor took a lot of vacations but they were at his ranch in Crawford, TX. That elitist label is the gift that just keeps on giving with the Obamas.

Amish Teen Rachel Yoder Shot to Death Riding Home from Christmas Party

Members of an Amish community are in shock after Rachel Yoder, a 15 year old girl, was shot to death under mysterious circumstances as she rode her buggy home from a Christmas party for employees at a produce shop. She was discovered last Thursday night at the family farm in Fredericksburg.

Authorities said the girl’s horse had instinctively galloped home after the shooting, and Wayne County authorities traced a trail of blood from the Yoder farm back to Holmes County’s Salt Creek Township, and the intersection of County Road 229 and Township Road 614. Source

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Rachel Yoder. This is tough for any parent to deal with.

UPDATE #1 (12/20/11):  A man cleaning his muzzle-loading rifle shot the gun into the air, accidentally killing a 15-year-old Amish girl driving a horse-drawn buggy more than a mile away, a sheriff said Tuesday.
