Three skiers were killed Sunday after being caught in a major avalanche at Stevens Pass in Washington state. The dead include Jim Jack, a former extreme skier, who judged “free-skiing” competitions around the world. Stevens Pass marketing director Chris Rudolph and John Brenan also died. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of these three men.
Skiers took to the mountain despite warnings of a “high avalanche danger.” So, while those killed have been described as expert skiers, they are still no match for Mother Nature and the extreme conditions.
