SHOCK: Hasson George, 12, was fatally shot by his half-brother, with their corrections officer Shaara Green-Simms’ service weapon, Friday night in a northern New Jersey apartment. The shooting is under investigation and no motive has been established as yet. Investigators are still working to determine if the shooting was an accident. Hasson George was shot once in the chest inside the Jersey City apartment but a neighbor found the body on a sidewalk, where the teen was pronounced dead.
Authorities have said that George was shot with a semi-automatic pistol issued to 38-year-old Shaara Green-Simms, who has worked at the county jail for 17 years. DeFazio said the two boys have the same father, and the victim lived not far from the apartment where he was killed, but officials haven’t said whether she _ or anyone else _ was home at the time of the shooting. Shaara Green-Simms is the mother of the 14-year-old and the boys have the same father. Who moved Hasson George’s body and why? When will some people learn to lock their guns up and away from their kids? This is a senseless murder that didn’t have to occur. No charges have been filed in the case at this juncture.
