Georgia Police Officer Travis Edwards Charged with Dogfighting, Cruelty to Animals

Sparta police officer Travis Edwards, 33, was arrested Monday and charged with dogfighting and cruelty to animals. Investigators found several pit bull dogs in his Hancock County, Ga., home.

Davis wouldn’t disclose the role Edwards allegedly played in dogfighting. The officer was arrested at the Sparta police headquarters, Davis said.

Another man, Reginald Rayshon Shivers, 42, of Milledgeville, was also arrested and charged with dogfighting and cruelty to animals. Source: AJC

Of course, they are tight-lipped on what role he played, but the authorities didn’t have a problem telling the whole world about Michael Vick and his dogfighting mess. Um, PETA, where are you? Funny, I have yet to see Officer Travis Edwards’ photograph.

Another parent going berserk over a youth basketball game. Police says Shelly Miller , a resident of Michigan City, was arrested and charged with Class C felony battery after he punched the assistant basketball coach at St. Stanislaus School until he became unconscious. The incident occurred after two players got into an altercation during practice and were punished by being made to run laps inside the gym.

First we had Timothy Lee Forbes who bit off a part of the coach’s ear at a Massachusetts school.  Now we have this fool. Shelly Miller, who is one of the parents of the two players, became enraged when he  arrived at the school and found out what happened.

WSBT:  Shelly Miller approached assistant coach Jeffrey Yackus and punched him. Yackus was knocked to the ground and police say Miller climbed on top of him and continued punching him in the face and head, rendering him unconscious.

Head coach Robert Johnson stopped Miller, who then left the school. Yackus was taken to the hospital to be treated for a concussion. After an investigation Miller was arrested on Friday and charged with battery. His bond was set at $15,000.

Another thug parent who is teaching his daughter the wrong way of dealing with conflict. You don’t punch someone until they are unconscious to solve a problem. What a loser. He should have been charged with a more severe crime, considering he could have caused brain damage in the victim.

Fraud in Congressional Black Caucus member Sheila Jackson Lee’s district? Well, Townhall seems to think some shady business is going on:

True the Vote then compared the socio-economic demographics of the three predominantly Democratic congressional districts in an effort to explain why Jackson Lee’s district could have such a high number in comparison. Engelbrecht told Townhall the group had found no significant difference to explain such a drastic variation in the numbers.

The group began doing research into the abnormalities in Jackson Lee’s district. They took the first 3,800 registrations of the flagged 19,596 homes with six or more registrants and began to investigate further. The group visited addresses and scoured property tax records. The group found many of the addresses were vacant lots or business addresses. Thirty-nine were registered at businesses and 97 of the addresses were nonexistent. One hundred six of the registrations revealed the same registrant registered more than once, and 207 of the addresses turned out to be vacant lots. Meanwhile, 595 registrations had registrants with driver’s license addresses not matching the registration, and many were voting in a district they did not live in. Of the random 3,800 registrations from Jackson Lee’s predominantly Democratic district, 25 percent had critical errors which Engelbrecht believes could result in an erosion of election integrity.

The media began to focus on the findings from the Harris County tax assessor’s office and True the Vote. Shortly after the August 24 press conference announcing the results of the office’s investigation, a fire of unknown origins burned down the warehouse containing all of Harris County’s voting equipment. In total, the fire claimed 10,000 voting machines, which was approximately $30,000,000 worth of equipment.

If the allegations are true, I can hear Sheila Jackson Lee screaming witch hunt and racism from the Republicans. SMH.

Military Couple Baanh Dinh, Wife Priscilla Dinh-Kittelson Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide in Oklahoma City Home

MILITARY MURDER-SUICIDE:  A military couple is dead in an apparent murder-suicide. Oklahoma City police say Baanh Dinh killed his wife Priscilla Dinh-Kittelson before turning the gun on himself in an apparent murder-suicide in their home Saturday night. The couple were both active members of the Air Force and had been stationed at  Tinker Air Force base the last two years.

Baanh Dinh, 24, was a jet engine mechanic and Priscilla Dinh-Kittelson, 21, worked in maintenance management. The couple seems to have had domestic violence issues. Police were reportedly called to their home the day before Priscilla filed for divorce in November. Th murder-suicide occurred 17 days after their divorce was finalized. Why were they still living in the same home after their divorce became final? Wasn’t that a recipe for disaster?

The motive for the murder-suicide has not been released, but it is part of an alarming trend of murder-suicide in military families. We covered at least two or three in the last six months.

It should be noted that Baanh Dinh had been deployed three times, once to Iraq, and could  have been suffering from post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which could have contributed to his actions. I don’t know, that’s just a guess, but we have seen too many cases in which returning service members went berserk and killed their spouses and themselves, or killed others, as was the case with Mt. Rainier park ranger Margaret Anderson, who was killed by an Iraq war veteran Benjamin Colton Barnes. Some were suffering from PTSD.

When will the military start taking this disorder seriously and give their returning service members the treatment they need? This comes one day before a staff sergeant, Robert Bales, who had been going through a divorce and had brain surgery in 2010, killed 16 Afghan civilians, including children, in Kandahar province Sunday morning. The military has to take better care of its service members. I should also add, Iraq war vet Abel Gutierrez killed his 11 year old sister and before turning the gun on himself in California. Police have yet to find his mother, who they believe is either critically wounded or dead. These murder-suicides and the massacre in Afghanistan could have been avoided.

Timothy Lee Forbes Beats Up Youth Coach, Bites Off Part of Ear Over Basketball Game

SHOCK:  Timothy Lee Forbes pulled a Mike Tyson last Friday night at his son’s basketball game at the Holy Name School in Springfield, Mass., when he bit off a part of the coach on the winning team’s ear because the team lost. The game was a part of the Catholic Youth Organization finals and the teams in question were not affiliated with the school. The Hartford Courant is reporting that Timothy Lee Forbes as the assistant coach of the losing team.

Forbes, 34, turned himself in to authorities at the Springfield courthouse on Monday. He pleaded not guilty to disorderly conduct, assault and battery, felony mayhem and other charges. He faces a hearing this week to determine if he’ll pose a public threat if released on bail.

His attorney Philip Lauro said his client has no prior record and strong ties to the community. However, Springfield TV stations WGGB and WSHM report that police say that Forbes has a criminal history. Source

If a parent is behaving in such a manner, how does he expect his own son to behave? He’s raising a young thug because that’s what he is, an adult thug. I hope they throw the book at him.

SHOCK: Phillip Ward, who is serving a 20-year to life sentence for murdering his second wife, Sheila Jackson, was charged Monday with decapitating his pregnant first wife, Veronica Bowen, in 1989, and burying her head in Riverside Park. He pleaded not-guilty in a Manhattan court for the murder, after he made a jailhouse confession last month, the NY Daily News reports.

The real-life Bluebeard  stood silently with his son by Bowen in court as Assistant District Attorney Elizabeth Lederer recounted a gruesome attack on the roof of his Riverside Drive building.

Lederer said Ward lured Veronica Bowen, 21 – who was pregnant with another man’s child — to the rooftop, beat her with a pipe, stabbed her with a dagger and cut off her head with a kitchen knife.

Ward had pleaded guilty to the 1994 shooting death of his second common-law wife, Sheila Jackson, and to raping her young daughter, but officials were unable to tie the first killing to him for years until Detective Sylvia Bone took up the cold case. Source

The truth always comes to light and if you kill once, you will kill again. This is another case of domestic violence. Phillip Ward is a monster who deserves the death penalty for his actions.

Obama Approval Ratings Sinks to New Low on Rising Gas Prices, Disapproval Rate Climbs to 47% (CBS News)

Obama approval  ratings have slipped to a new low, with 47% disapproval of his performance,  and that’s in large part to the perception that he isn’t doing enough to stem the rising gas prices.

CBS News:  President Obama’s approval rating has hit the lowest level ever in CBS News polling, according to the latest CBS News/New York Times survey. The drop may be partially attributable to rising gas prices.

Just 41 percent of Americans approve of the job Mr. Obama is doing as president, according to the poll, conducted from March 7 to 11. Another 47 percent disapprove of his performance, up from 41 percent last month.

Mr. Obama’s approval rating was 50 percent last month.

The average U.S. price of a gallon of gasoline has jumped 12 cents over the past two weeks. The poll found that most Americans, 54 percent, believe gas prices are something a president can do a lot about.

Newt Gingrich claims when he becomes president, he can get gas prices back down to $2.50. Yeah, when donkeys fly.  I don’t believe President Obama, like his predecessor George W. Bush, can manipulate the gas prices. Experts attribute the changes to a variety of factors, many of which are outside the president’s control. The biggest reason I believe we are seeing such a spike in gas prices is due to the rumors of war in the Middle East, particularly between Iran and Israel.

It’s ironic that this polls comes as another poll says Americans believe they are better off. I guess this begs the question of which Americans? The black community still has a 14.1% unemployment rate, compared to 7.3% for whites.

Bloomberg poll:  ”Finds more Americans now say they are personally better off since President Obama took office than worse off, 38% to 36%, the first favorable reading for the president on that question since Bloomberg began asking in December 2010. That said, Americans are still far from content, with 61% saying the U.S. is moving in the wrong direction.”

Nike is in the news again over another sneaker, the Nike SB Dunk Low, also known as “Black and Tan.” The sportswear giant has come under blistering attack for naming a new $90 “beer-themed” trainer, “Black and Tan,” after a notorious British paramilitary unit sent to Ireland to suppress revolt in the 1920s. The “Black and Tan” was launched alongside  ’The Guinness’ just in time for St Patrick’s Day on Saturday. The company has been slammed for being insensitive.’

Daily Mail:  In an advert for the trainer, officially called the Nike SB Dunk Low, but dubbed the ‘Black and Tan’ for its colourings, it is stated: ‘Tis the season for Irish beer and why not celebrate with Nike.

‘The Black and Tan sneaker takes inspiration for the fine balancing act of a Stout (Guinness) on top a Pale Ale (Harp) in a pint glass.’

It has, critics say, evoked memories of the Royal Irish Constabulary Reserve Force – who became notorious for a brutal crackdown on ordinary Irish during the War of Independence.

Given the nickname of the Black and Tans for their improvised uniforms, its members were ordered to suppress revolt. 

Some critics of the shoes say it’s the equivalent of calling a sneaker line “The Al Qaeda.” Nike seems to be notorious for bringing out the worst in people, such as the mall brawls over Air Jordan Retro II Concords and the Galaxy Foamposite line. All those sneakers are so ugly and Nike and its shareholders are laughing all the way to the bank.

Rush Limbaugh Faces New Threat When New Mike Huckabee Show Launches in His 12-3 PM Time Slot

Rush Limbaugh faces new threat — former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee. Why?  The new Mike Huckabee show launches on 100 stations in his noon-3 p.m. time slot. Um, give me Mike Huckabee any day over Rush Limbaugh.  Advertisers won’t be the only ones running from Rush Limbaugh, listeners will too.

David Frum points out that Limbaugh will face “a more-serious challenge” on April 2: “That’s when the new Mike Huckabee show launches on 100 stations in Limbaugh’s very own noon-to-3 time slot. Huckabee’s competition threatens Limbaugh not only because Huckabee has already proven himself an attractive and popular TV broadcaster, but also because Huckabee is arriving on the scene at a time when Limbaugh’s business model is crashing around him.”
