Dining While Black: Blacks Discriminated Against by Waiters Because They are Lousy Tippers, Difficult Customers

Dining While Black: Denny's Restaurant Calls Influx of Black Diners "Blackout"

DINING WHILE BLACK:  Be careful when you dine out. Well, that’s mainly directed at the black community. A recent study shows that wait-staff discriminate more against blacks than any other race because they are lousy tippers and more difficult customers. Can we say Bishop Eddie L. Long and Michael Jordan?

After polling 200 servers in 18 North Carolina restaurants, researchers found that a shocking 38.5% discriminated against black customers.

Waiters admitted that they often gave them poorer service, based on their expectations that black diners would be poor tippers, demanding and rude.

Sarah Rusche, a Ph.D. candidate in sociology at North Carolina State, called it a situation of “dining while black.”

“‘Tableside racism’ is yet another example in which African-Americans are stereotyped and subsequently treated poorly in everyday situations,” said Rusche. “Race continues to be a significant barrier to equal treatment in restaurants and other areas of social life.” Source: NY Daily News

It is interesting that Denny’s has found its way into this study. You will recall that the restaurant has been accused of racism in the past. The study found that Denny’s employee were found to have racist attitudes towards its customers, including to referring to an influx of black diners as a “blackout” and the game of  “pass the black table” are often played, the study found. I have never set foot in a Denny’s restaurant and don’t plan on doing so any time soon either.

I have always been a good tipper, but I must admit, I don’t dine out very often. I just don’t like eating out for a myriad of reasons, including a lack of proper hygiene in restaurant kitchens, preferring to eat what is cooked in my home because I am a very picky eater and the fact that some waiter or waitress may spit in my food for whatever reason. We saw that happen recently at a McDonald’s restaurant where a young man spat in the iced tea of two patrons.

Former President Jimmy Carter Says He Would be Comfortable with Mitt Romney as President

Former president Jimmy Carter tells MSNBC that though he believes President Obama will likely win re-election, he would be “comfortable” with Mitt Romney as president. Um, Jimmy, how many Democrats would openly admit they are “comfortable” with a Mitt Romney presidency? Isn’t that like endorsing his candidacy at the expense of their candidate?

Jimmy Carter on MSNBC: “I’d rather have a Democrat but I would be comfortable — I think Romney has shown in the past, in his previous years as a moderate or progressive… that he was fairly competent as a governor and also running the Olympics as you know. He’s a good solid family man and so forth, he’s gone to the extreme right wing positions on some very important issues in order to get the nomination. What he’ll do in the general election, what he’ll do as president I think is different.”

I won’t endorse Mitt Romney, but I don’t think he would be any different as president as he was as governor of Massachusetts. He would be more moderate than conservative, though he has had some Etch-A-Sketch moments on the campaign trail where he has tried to paint himself as “severely conservative.” That’s why I don’t take him serious. Mitt Romney was a decent  governor and I have no doubt he would be a decent president if he governs from the middle as a centrist.  With that said, let’s see how this election campaign plays out. Um, Jimmy, please pick a side to support and stick with it. Just saying….

I came across an interesting article dubbing GOP presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich the real Welfare Queen, undeserving and indolent on all fronts. Thankfully, his presidential aspirations are dissipating just as fast as his campaign funds and we won’t be subjected to his hypocritical and self-serving rhetoric.

Joshua Green:  “But Newt has had a rough go of it since then. He’s fallen back — way, way back. His main source of funding (billionaire Sheldon Adelson) has dried up. His think tank went bankrupt. His campaign is $4.3 million in debt. He doesn’t hold a prayer of beating Mitt Romney, something he has all but conceded. And yet since March 6th, the Secret Service has honored his request for protection at a cost to taxpayers of roughly $40,000 a day (or, to translate that into a metric Newt might favor, enough to supply 13,333 people a day with food stamps). That would yield a tab of more than $5 million were Gingrich to carry out his vow to stay in the race until the Republican convention at the end of August.

But, wait — isn’t Gingrich the same candidate who declared the deficit a profound national crisis and vowed to eliminate it by 2017 using that gimmicky Lean Six Sigma corporate streamlining system created by one of his campaign donors? (Why, yes, he is.) So how can he justify his current status: jobless, deep in debt, no prospects, a drain on public coffers?” Source: Bloomberg Businessweek

Funny he should profess his “adoration” for Ronald Reagan, who coined the term welfare queen. I wonder what would Ronnie really think of Newt Gingrich running for the highest office in this country? Would he approve of his mooching off Sheldon Adelson and the system?

NFL Great Deion Sanders Cited in Domestic Dispute with Estranged Wife Pilar Sanders, Misdemeanor Charge Carries $500 Fine

NFL great and born-again Christian Deion Sanders was cited for misdemeanor simple assault in the domestic dispute with his estranged wife Pilar Sanders Monday, that led to her arrest at their mansion in Prosper, TX. Deion Sanders took to Twitter to air his dirty laundry, including posting photos of his kids as they filled out the police report against their mother. That was in poor taste because the children should not have been dragged in this mess. The photo has since been removed.

Police said further investigation led to a charge also being filed against the football star, though it didn’t warrant his arrest. Prosper police spokesman Celso Martinez wouldn’t detail the allegations, but said the charge covers any act considered aggressive and could be as simple as touching or defensively jerking away from someone’s grip. It carries a fine of up to $500.

Deion and Pilar Sanders have been living in the same home in Prosper, months after Deion filed for divorce in December. Deion’s attorney, Rick Robertson, has said both had separate living areas within the large home. Source

It was a very bad idea for the couple to live in the same house, especially in light of the fact that they cannot get along and the divorce is acrimonious. The Sanders’ divorce file is under seal and a judge has placed a gag order on both parties. So, why Deion Sanders’ daughter is still allowed to run her mouth on Twitter is beyond me. Some people will take Deion Sanders side, while others will take Pilar Sanders’ side. The reality is that if you aren’t in the home with them or are a close friend or family member, then this isn’t your dogfight and you are only speculating on who is right or wrong. My concern is for the children, who don’t deserve to be party to this hot mess. Both Deion Sanders and his estranged wife are reckless in that regard. A divorce proceeding isn’t settled by social media or public opinion. It is settled by both parties, their lawyers and a judge.

Stephen Walsh and Wife Donalyn Walsh Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide in Palm Harbor FL Home

PALM HARBOR MURDER-SUICIDE:  Pinellas County, Fla., resident Stephen Walsh reportedly killed his wife, Donalyn Walsh, before turning the gun on himself in an apparent murder-suicide sometime Sunday night. The bodies were found Tuesday afternoon after concerned family members forced their way into the home, located on Forest View Drive in Palm Harbor. Police believe the shootings occurred Sunday night because the couple had been arguing. When, when will the incidence of murder-suicides in the U.S. decline. There is something very wrong when one spouse thinks he or she is the keeper of the other’s life. Domestic violence is a silent killer.

Brazilian Hooker Romilda Ferreira Suffers Broken Ribs, Collarbone After U.S. Marines Throw Her Out of Moving Embassy Car

Brazilian Hooker Romilda Ferreira Suffers Broken Ribs, Collarbone After U.S. Marines Throw Her Out of Moving Embassy Car (Daily Mail)

New embarrassment for President Obama as Brazilian prostitute goes public with her story involving three U.S. Marines. Brazilian hooker Romilda Ferreira accused three U.S. Marines of throwing her out of a moving embassy car last November. She allegedly suffered a broken collar bone, two broken ribs and a punctured lung after the incident in Brasilia. The three Marines and an U.S. Embassy staff member were recalled before the police was able to press charges, Brazil’s Jornal Nacional programme reports.

This latest incident, which happened in November last year, came to light after U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, in Brazil during a Latin American tour, was questioned about it by a Brazilian reporter during a press conference. According to a Brazilian police investigation, the four U.S. Embassy officials had visited a nightclub in the centre of Brasilia where they had hired a group of prostitutes.

But U.S. authorities removed the four men from the country before they could be charged with the crimes. Speaking to reporters in Brasilia, Mr Panetta said the men were pulled from the country, two of the marines had their ranks reduced and the embassy staff member was removed from his post.

He added that the embassy had tracked Ms Ferreira down and paid for her medical expenses. He added: ‘This incident was fully investigated and all those involved were punished. They are no longer in this country. This type of behavior is unacceptable.’ Source: Daily Mail

Wow, Prostitutegate is taking President Obama off message. Shows you have far the government will go to keep the lid on a potential scandal. Paula Reid, the U.S. Secret Service supervisor, who spearheaded the recall of the 11 agents involved in the scandal involving Colombian hooker Dania Suarez did the Obama administration a huge favor.
