SHAME: Detroit Pastor Marvin Winans Carjacked, Robbed While Pumping Gas, Pants Ripped to Shreds

SHAME:  Detroit pastor Marvin Winans was robbed and carjacked while pumping gas this afternoon. Winans, who leads the Perfecting Church, told Local 4, “he went inside the gas station to pay when he noticed a group of young men hanging inside the store not buying anything. He said he thought it was strange, but he went about his business.” He was then jumped by four men when he came out of the convenience store.

Winans suffered several cuts and bruises to his face, hands and arms. His pants were also torn to shreds.

“I was on the ground and then they went to kicking me and trying to get the money out of my pocket,” said Winans. “When I stood up I called on Jesus, I said ‘Jesus’, and they started running. I got up and my car was gone.” The attackers were able to steal his 2012 QX56 purple Infinity sedan and his wallet. Source

UPDATE#1 (05/20/12): The office of Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy identified the suspects as Detroit residents Montoya Givens and Christopher Moorehead, both 20, and Brian K. Young, 18, of Macomb County’s Clinton Township. They are charged with carjacking, unarmed robbery and conspiracy, said Maria Miller, Worthy’s spokeswoman, the Associated Post reports.

It’s a damn shame that these thugs would rob even a pastor. Reaction on Twitter:

AUTOPSY REPORT: Trayvon Martin Killed by Single Gunshot to the Chest at “Intermediate Range”

AUTOPSY REPORT:  Trayvon Martin was shot at “intermediate range,” calling into question, in my opinion, George Zimmerman’s claim of self-defense. If it had truly been a case of self-defense, the teen should have been shot at “close range.” It should be noted that the autopsy report doesn’t define what “intermediate range” is.

The official report, prepared by the medical examiner in Volusia County, Fla., also found that the 17-year-old Martin had one other fresh injury – a small abrasion, no more than a quarter-inch  in size –  on his left ring finger below the knuckle.

Separately, a medical report on Martin’s alleged killer, 28-year-old George Zimmerman, prepared by his personal physician the day after Martin’s shooting in Sanford, Fla., on Feb. 26, found that the Neighborhood Watch volunteer suffered a likely broken nose, swelling, two black eyes and cuts to the scalp. That report, first reported Tuesday by ABC News, also was reviewed by NBC News. Source: MSNBC

What is an intermediate range gunshot? It can range from just beyond the 12-inch range out to 24 to 36 inches, which depends greatly upon the caliber, barrel length and powder type used in the ammunition.

Daniel Holt and Wife Erica Holt Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide in Natchez MS

NATCHEZ MURDER-SUICIDE:  Daniel Holt shot and killed his wife, Erica Holt, while she was at an Exxon gas station on Homochitto Street and John R. Junkin Drive early Wednesday in Natchez, Miss. Daniel Holt then fled the scene and was found by police after he wrecked his car, the Natchez Democrat reports. He died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest after the police approached his vehicle. Erica Holt was pronounced dead from multiple gunshot wounds at the Natchez Regional Medical Center.

There was a history of domestic violence with this couple. Erica Holt’s murder could have been prevented. How many more murder-suicides do we have to hear about before the alarm is sounded and domestic violence is taken more seriously? Just yesterday, Tonya Thomas killed her four kids and herself in an apparent quadruple murder-suicide in Port St. John, Fla. Last week Amy Freeman Burton and her daughter Ainsley Freeman died in a murder-suicide in Pleasanton, Calif.

Jamaican-Born British Couple Eunice and Owen Johns Barred from Fostering 16th Child Over Anti-Gay Stance

Anti-gay couple in England, Eunice and Owen Johns, have been barred from taking in a 16th foster child because Eunice Johns refused to say she would tell the child if he or she was a homosexual that it is “okay.” This all happened when they attempted to become foster parents to a 16th child in 2006 when the Derby City Council erected a roadblock called forcing the gay agenda down their throats, thanks to a social worker. Here’s an excerpt from the Jamaica Observer:

“They started asking about my Christianity and I told them I was a Christian, I go to church on a Sunday. I told them I was a Bible-believing Christian,” Eunice said.

She was asked: “What if a child of five came to you one day from school and told you that they were homosexual?” To this she responded: “I would care for that child, I would give them love and attention and all that’s required.”

Her response, however, did not find favour with the social worker and when Eunice ventured to ask what her response should have been, she was told: “You would have to tell this child that it is alright to be homosexual.”

Failing to convince Eunice to change her mind on the matter, the social worker said she would have to raise the issue with her manager. Two weeks later the manager came to see her.

“She said to us: ‘Well, Mr and Mrs Johns, we were told that you said you could not tell a child it is alright to be homosexual, and in this day and age you would have to because so many children are not sure where they are and a lot of them are confused. So many people are confused these days, because they weren’t told that their sexuality and what they are feeling is right’.”

She said she and her husband were then taken before a panel of 12 persons at the Council where they were asked to explain their views on homosexuality. Two weeks after that, they got a letter thanking them for withdrawing their application to foster children. The couple were shocked, because they had made no such request. However, they decided not to contest the Council on the matter.

The struggle for equality of all people won’t end if people are being forced to accept the gay agenda or face repercussions if they don’t. I believe marriage is between one man and one woman, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to make it hard for a gay person to be with whomever he or she loves.  It is equally wrong from the social worker and the City Council to have barred the child from the Johns because of their views on homosexuality. Since when does one’s personal beliefs trump another person’s? Aren’t we all afforded free speech? This sets a dangerous precedent and will only foment critics of gay marriage to fight even harder not to find common ground.

The Jamaica Observer reports,  Eunice and Owen  Johns are preparing to take the matter before the European Court of Justice with the support of a coalition of Christian groups who are firmly opposed to the gay and lesbian lifestyle.

SHAME:  Four Guardian Angels were stabbed in Chicago trying to stop a robbery Tuesday night after seeing a man pistol-whip a rider on a Red Line train on the Near North Side, the Chicago Tribune reports. Thankfully, the four members of the volunteer patrol, , including local chapter leader Miguel Fuentes, suffered minor cuts during the confrontation, but it speaks to a bigger problem of crime in the city.

The Guardian Angels were on the platform, waiting to get on a train, when they spotted a man hitting a passenger and taking his iPhone 4S, police said. They intervened and a second man pulled a knife and cut three of the Guardian Angels on their arms and the fourth on the head, authorities said. The robbers ran off and grabbed a cab, police said.

Miguel Fuentes, the head of the local Guardian Angels chapter, said he had spotted one of the robbers standing suspiciously close behind the passenger on the northbound train.

“As the train’s pulling up, I noticed (the robber) hovering around (the victim) from behind. So the passenger had no clue,” Fuentes said hours after the attack left him with 17 stitches in his right arm.

As the train pulled to the stop, Fuentes said he saw the robber pull a handgun and hit the passenger from behind. “People get up, they start running. . .They’re screaming. The train still hadn’t made a complete stop,” Fuentes said.

Fuentes said he grabbed the robber’s arm as he was fleeing the train and tucking the pistol into his waistband. The robber managed pulled away and ran toward the turnstile, where the three other Guardian Angels were waiting. Source

Jesus take the wheel. These stories are neither popular or being covered by the mainstream media with any sense of urgency, but we will continue to shed light on the crime wave that is consuming this country in certain pockets.  The Guardian Angels volunteer security organization was founded by Curtis Sliwa.

Background on the Guardian Angels:

In May 1977, Sliwa created the “Magnificent 13,” a group dedicated to combating violence and crime on the New York City subways. At the time, the city was experiencing a crime wave. The Magnificent 13 grew and was renamed the Guardian Angels. The group’s actions drew strong reactions, both positive and negative,[1]from the police, public officials, residents and the media. Throughout the early 1980s the group’s distinctive uniform, a military type red beret and white insignia t-shirt, became recognizable as the group grew and courted media attention.

In the early 1980s, he became active in Buffalo, New York and was often critical of local police policies and practices.[2] Sliwa continues to act as the President of the organization and oversees its worldwide operations. His wife, Mary, is Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer. He frequently visits chapters throughout the world and graduates new chapters. As of 2011, Sliwa states that the Guardian Angels operate in nine countries and 82 cities around the world, with approximately 5,000 members. Sliwa went on to become a populist conservative radio talk show host. Source
