Everett Glenn, Lafayette College Fencing Star, Dies in Dorm After Over-Drinking to Celebrate 19th Birthday

Lafayette College fencing star Everett Glenn reportedly suffered a fatal heart attack Saturday after drinking too much to celebrate his 19th birthday, his mother told The Express-Times. His body was found at Kirby House about 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon, police said. Everett Glenn, who graduated from Montclair NJ’s Kimberly Academy in 2011, was nicknamed “Mr. Mayor” because of his charisma.  A website has been set up in his honor: rememberingeverett.com.

Joanne Glenn said her son drank too much as he celebrated his birthday then lied down face up. She said an emergency room doctor told her the cause of death was cardiac arrest. “He was drinking too much and then he went to his room and he laid down,” she said after the service held in his honor Saturday night. Lafayette College President Daniel Weiss issued a statement saying,  “My thoughts are with Everett’s parents and other family members at this extremely difficult time. I extend to them my heartfelt condolences. My thoughts are also with our students and all members of our community who share in this tragic loss.” Easton police did not release an official cause of death, but foul play isn’t a factor. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Everett Glenn’s parents, Joanne and Leonard Glenn. No parent should have to bury a child.
