Robin Madden, Then-Freshman at Stanford Says Mitt Romney Impersonated Police Officer

MITT ROMNEY IMPERSONATED A POLICE OFFICER:  Did a young Mitt Romney impersonate a police officer during his Stanford years? Um, that’s a crime in many states. Robin Madden, who was also a Stanford University freshman at the time, remembers quite clearly the day Mitt Romney called him and three other residents up to his room to show them a Michigan State Trooper’s uniform, the National Memo reports.

Madden, a native Texan who graduated from Stanford in 1970 and went on to become a successful television producer and writer, has never forgotten that strange moment, which he has recounted to friends over the years as he observed his former classmate’s political ascent. The National Memo learned of the incident from a longtime Madden friend to whom he had mentioned it years ago.

Said Madden in a recent interview, “He told us that he had gotten the uniform from his father,” George Romney, then the Governor of Michigan, whose security detail was staffed by uniformed troopers. “He told us that he was using it to pull over drivers on the road. He also had a red flashing light that he would attach to the top of his white Rambler.”

In Madden’s recollection, confirmed by his wife Susan, who also attended Stanford during those years, “we thought it was all pretty weird. We all thought, ‘Wow, that’s pretty creepy.’ And after that, we didn’t have much interaction with him,” although both Madden and Romney were prep school boys living in the same dorm, called Rinconada. Um, imagine if that had been a young Barack Obama? We can’t seem to get enough stories about his weed-smoking high school days. This nugget is deliberately missing from The Drudge Report, Twitchy and other right wing sites. It’s interesting to note that Mitt Romney has exhibited some strange behavior in the past and seems to have a real need to be in control. How many people have a fetish for impersonating a cop? Most eventually land behind bars. Talk about the perks of money and privilege.

The only person I like at MSNBC, Lawrence O’Donnell outed Mitt Romney’s cop impersonating ways:

  • For a man who believes he will become a GOD after his death, this isn’t unbelievable.

    • Wow Mr Unrine:

Your blog seems to be fully packed with criticism about Mormons.
Tell me – What is YOUR foundation of YOUR beliefs, prior to us focusing on your views on Mormonism?

    • jeighcee

Who the hell are you to criticize another man’s religion? Only muslims and fools do that. Which are you?

      • 1) Being snarky on the internet: Free
        2) Complaining about someone criticizing another’s religion on the internet: Free
        3) Criticizing a different religion in order to validate you complaint about someone criticizing another’s religion on the internet: PRICELESS

So this Robin Madden is witness to a serious crime? Does he call the police or anyone in authority?  No.  He was an accessory than and needs to be investigated.  I have to wave the BS flag on this.

    • Sam

No, Madden doesn’t call the police over merely being shown the cop uniform. He didn’t see Romney dress up in a police uniform and go out an pretend to be a policeman and pull people over. There’s a distinction, ‘dim bulb’. But as it stands now, Romney was either a pathetic, lying, ‘wannabe cop’ or an actual ‘cop impersonator’. Guess this might be what Ann Romney meant by Mitt’s being a ‘wild and crazy guy’.

      • Sam — You’re right. Ann Romney has been with him since they were teenagers. She would know better than anyone else.

      • jeighcee

So, how can he now tell the tale? Why didn’t he tell the tale years ago? Why now? The man, a “successful tv writer and producer” can’t be lying now, can he?!

  • Pelmo

Will there be no end to how far the left will go to dig up dirt…

    • Pelmo — Hate to tell you, but the right does its fair share of digging up dirt. Not just the left.

      • jeighcee

Generally, however, the right can provide sources and/or examples of how scr*ew*ed up the left is. Striking school teachers in Chicago ring a bell?

  • Janet:

Between this story about Romney’s “Police Badge”, the Homosexual Hair Cut issue and then MSNBC’s Brashir’s ROMNEY SPELL CHECKING exercises…………..

might it be that your friends at MSNBC don’t have much to affirm about Obama in the way of ECONOMICS so they are forced to MAJOR IN THE MINORS, knowing that they have you as a syndicate?

    • Constructive Feedback — It speaks to Romney’s character and his “bullying” ways. Just so you know, I am no fan of MSNBC. So no, they aren’t my friends any more than Fox News is.

      • jeighcee

Well Gee…where DO you get your facts? Why put bullying in quotes? You found that somewhere else?

  • jeighcee

Hmmm! Did he say that Madden was a TV producer and writer? Well, I sure do believe Madden! We all know that TV producers and writers never lie!
