Hillary Clinton Says Mitt Romney Using Her in Two Negative Campaign Ads a “Waste of Money”

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton slammed the Romney campaign over its use of her in two negative ads about President Obama.

CNN:  “I am out of politics, and I haven’t seen any of the ads that you’re talking about,” Clinton said. “But I have to say it’s a waste of money. Everybody knows I ran against President Obama in 2008, that’s hardly news. Everybody knows we ran a hard fought campaign and he won. And I have been honored to serve as his secretary of state.”

Um, Mitt Romney’s entire campaign is a waste of money and time. His campaign is shrouded in secrecy when it’s convenient to them.

Mitt Romney Compared to “The Dark Knight Rises” Villain Bane with Offshore Interests and Powerful Father

Are there parallels between the upcoming summer blockbuster “The Dark Knight Rises,” with presidential election?  The terrorist in the new movie goes by the name “Bane,” sounds very similar to Bain, drives the caped crusader out of semi-retirement into the final Batman movie. Democrats think Mitt Romney fits the Bane character to a tee and there are other comparisons as well:  a highly intelligent villain with offshore interests and a past both are seeking to cover up who had a powerful father and is set on pillaging society.

And even while playing up the Bane-Bain tie, Christopher Lehane (former Clinton aide) suggested that Romney is a weak version. “The ‘Bain Romney’ should at least endeavor to match the comic book Bane in at least one way: prove to be a worthy adversary. Bane never asked Batman to apologize–neither superheroes nor super villains nor candidates for president should ever ask for apologies from their opponents if they are to be taken serious,” he said in a reference to Romney’s demand of an apology from Obama for his Bain attacks. Source: Washington Examiner

I am with Christopher Lehane on this, Mitt Romney isn’t as sophisticated as the fictional character in “The Dark Knight Rising.” Rather than dwelling on the movie and its fictional characters, holding Mitt Romney accountable for the outlandish claims of expertise he has made is more important. He claims he had nothing to do with Bain Capital when he went to run the Olympics, but somehow, many companies connected with Bain were somehow connected with the Olympics. How was that possible? Then there’s the “secret” deal with Jon Huntsman Sr.

Conservatives Selectively Edit President Obama’s Speech To Claim He Hates Small Businesses

obama 300x168 Conservatives Selectively Edit President Obama’s Speech To Claim He Hates Small Businesses

Attempting to change the subject from the latest scandal over Romney’s tenure at Bain Capital, conservatives have seized on new fodder for the narrative that Obama is secretly out to destroy small businesses. Fox and Friends on Monday morning aired a clip from an Obama campaign speech in Roanoke, Virginia, in which he says, “If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that. Somebody else did that.”

The sound bite soon reverberated throughout conservative media outlets. Fox News later ran the headline, “Obama Insults Small Business Owners,” and House Speaker John Boehner scoffed, “He said that because he has no idea what it takes to build or run a small business.”

The quote also prompted talk show host Rush Limbaugh to declare that President Obama “hates this country.”

Sheldon Adelson, Biggest Donor To Romney And GOP, Did Business With Chinese Mob

Sheldon Adelson, Biggest Donor To Romney And GOP, Did Business With Chinese Mob

Think Progress:  The Macau operation has long been under scrutiny but a new in-depth investigation from ProPublica and PBS focused on allegations of improper, and perhaps in some cases illegal, business dealings by Adelson’s Las Vegas Sands company in China. While focusing on the possibility that Sands violated the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act with a 0,000 payment to a Chinese associate, PBS also released documents that bolstered accusations of business ties between Adelson’s shop and Chinese organized crime figures.

PBS reports that Sands was clear that, in order to drive business from mainland China to their Macau casino, they would need to use “junkets” — trips arranged by private companies to ferry high-stakes gamblers to Macau:

Among the junket companies under scrutiny is a concern that records show was financed by Cheung Chi Tai, a Hong Kong businessman.

Did Mitt Romney Admit His Tax Returns May Contain Politically Damaging Information?

Did Mitt Romney Admit His Tax Returns May Contain Politically Damaging Information? (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

I think I may have missed a gem during Mitt Romney’s appearance on “Fox and Friends” this morning when he whined about the Obama campaign asking for more tax returns and not being transparent. I think Mitt Romney admitted in a roundabout way that his tax returns may contain politically damaging information:

ROMNEY: The Obama people keep on wanting more and more and more. More things to pick through, more things for their opposition research to try make a mountain out of and to distort and to be dishonest about. We’re going to put out two years of tax returns. Source:  Think Progress

It’s interesting that the drip-drip from the Republican faucet keeps getting stronger, as there are now eight Republicans who have called on Mitt Romney to release tax returns for more years. “Morning Joe” co-host and former Republican congressman Joe Scarborough joined the chorus saying,  “The fact is, there are a couple of years he may not have paid any taxes. Maybe he’s concerned about that. But if it’s going to come out, he needs to get it out now so he has a couple of months to explain it.”

Romney also said during his “Fox and Friends” interview John McCain released two years of tax returns, John Kerry’s wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry, “who has hundreds of millions of dollars, she never released her income taxes.” Um, really? I didn’t realize Teresa Heinz Kerry ran for the presidency in 2004 and that John McCain’s wife released her tax returns in 2008. John Kerry actually released 20 years of tax returns in 2004. I guess we shouldn’t compare Mitt Romney to past presidential candidates but to their wives. Mitt Romney is running on his business expertise and experience, so he should cough up the tax returns, so we can see what he has been up to and how his so-called business know-how qualifies him for the presidency. My guess is that he has a ton of tax loopholes that lowered his tax rate significantly.

Lake County Deputies Kills Andrew Lee Scott After Knocking on Wrong Door While Looking for Jonathan Brown

SHOCK:  Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputies shot and killed Andrew Lee Scott after they assumed he was an attempted murder suspect, but they actually knocked on the wrong door and shot the wrong man. They were looking for Jonathan Brown.

In the early morning hours, deputies knocked on 26-year-old Andrew Lee Scott’s door without identifying themselves as law enforcement officers. Scott answered the door with a gun in his hand.

“When we knocked on the door, the door opened and the occupant of that apartment was pointing a gun at deputies and that’s when we opened fire and killed him,” Lt. John Herrell said.

Deputies thought they were confronting Jonathan Brown, a man accused of attempted murder. Brown was spotted at the Blueberry Hills Apartment complex and his motorcycle was parked across from Andrew Scott’s front door. Source

This reminds me of the no-knock warrant on Kathryn Johnston’s home, that left her dead and a few officers behind bars for the crime.

UPDATED: Charlie Brown Jordan Arrested for Repeatedly Punching Lake Lanier Park Ranger in the Face

Just two weeks after Kyle Glover, [Kile Glover] the former stepson of Usher Raymond was critically injured by family friend Jeffrey Hubbard on Lake Lanier, Charlie Brown Jordan, 24, of Suwanee, was arrested and charged with obstruction of an officer, after he repeatedly punched a Lake Lanier park ranger. The attack comes as the agency is grappling with increased rowdiness and crowds at Lake Lanier.

The Times of Gainesville reports Hall County sheriff’s Sgt. Stephen Wilbanks said the ranger attacked Sunday was patrolling Burton Mill Park when he saw people with alcoholic beverages in a prohibited area. While issuing a citation, the ranger was punched several times before ending the assault by deploying pepper spray.

Thankfully the ranger wasn’t seriously hurt, but there needs to be more safety measures put in place to control the crowds on the lake and the grounds. You will recall Jake and Griffin Prince were killed after their boat was hit by another in a boating under the influence incident.

UPDATE#1 (07/17/12): We spoke with Billy Jordan, brother of Charlie Brown Jordan, who maintains the park ranger was the one who instigated the scuffle. Billy Jordan said his brother wasn’t given a sobriety test, but was given a ticket for $75. He said the park ranger told his brother to pick up a can from off the ground. Charlie Jordan allegedly lost his balance and stumbled, touching the ranger, who then threw him to the ground. Billy Jordan said his brother was pepper-sprayed even though he and a friend, Timmy, told the officer Charlie Brown Jordan wasn’t trying to start a fight. We have reached out to Sheriff’s Office for a statement. Stay tuned….

Why Won’t Mitt Romney Release Tax Returns for More Than Two Years?

Why Won’t Mitt Romney Release Tax Returns for More Than Two Years? (Photo credit: DonkeyHotey)

Mitt Romney has made a calculated move not to release more than two years tax returns. If you think something isn’t behind this, then you are sadly mistaken. Add the fact that there is a great deal of murkiness about when he left Bain Capitaland you get a sh*tload of doubt planted in the minds of many Independents. Here’s an interesting take from John Cassidy:

John Cassidy says it’s “only fair to assume that Mitt is doing what he always does: acting on the basis of a careful cost-benefit analysis.” “But what information could the earlier tax returns contain that would be so damaging if it were brought out into the open? Obviously, we are entering the realm of speculation, but Romney has invited it.” “Here are four possibilities: 1. Extremely high levels of income… 2. More offshore accounts…. 3. Politically explosive investments… 4. A very, very low tax rate.”

The Republicans are even throwing Mitt Romney under a bus over this tax return issue. I wonder if they have some knowledge of what’s in those tax returns — you know, if the McCain people leaked it to some Republicans. Either way, it doesn’t look good.

GOP strategist Rick Tyler on MSNBC:  “He should have put it to rest  back in 2008 when he ran originally because he knew all these things were going to be problems. There’s clearly a problem with the tax returns otherwise he would release, you know, ten years of tax returns. He’s only released one year of tax returns. That’s a problem.”

Either way, Mitt Romney probably didn’t break the law, but it most likely will show a pattern of lying to the American people about his finances and ultimately speaks volumes that he will do and say anything to weasel his way into the White House. Romney went on “Fox and Friends” this morning to attack Obama for running a “dishonest” campaign. Yawn, haven’t we heard this before when he literally dogged out Newt Gingrich during the primaries? Um, tit for tat.

Politico:  “A campaign based on falsehood and dishonesty does not have long legs,” Romney said on “Fox and Friends,” later adding: “The president only has one thing going, and that is constant attacks on me. They’re dishonest. They’re misdirected. And I think the American people recognize that kind of politics as something of the past. It may work in Chicago, but it’s not going to work across America.”

He also flipped the debate on transparency, saying:

Hot Air: “If we want to talk about transparency, the real issue is, why has this president used his presidential power and executive privilege to keep the information about the Fast and Furious program from being explained to the American people?”

Still no answer on why he won’t release more tax returns or when he left Bain Capital. Of course, Gretchen Carlson, Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade just couldn’t bring themselves to asking Romney tougher questions. No surprise there. But what do you expect from Faux News and Gumby? So, what does this mean for black voters? Basically much of the same — nothing. I would encourage you to become versed on the issues and make a judgment call on who would best meet your needs — Mitt Romney vs. Obama. Take a look at the history of each man and judge for yourself who you think would help lower the unemployment rate in the black community and fix the justice system that is stacked against the black community.

How did Mitt Romney’s IRA account get to be so big, considering the government only allows a fairly small amount, relative to his income, to be deposited in such an account on an annual basis.

William Cohan: “The most mysterious of the unexplained mysteries about Mitt Romney’s considerable wealth is how he was able to amass between $21 million and $102 million in his individual retirement account during the 15 years he was at Bain Capital LLC. How did he do it, given the relatively small amounts that the law permits to be contributed to such a plan on an annual basis?”

Mitt Romney not only retroactively retired from Bain Capital, he has a magical IRA too!
