Michelle Malkin Attacks President Obama for Going to Visit Victims of James Holmes Aurora Shooting Rampage

Michelle Malkin and many on the right are attacking President Obama for going to Aurora CO to show his respects to the victims of James Holmes shooting rampage at the screening of new Batman flick, “Dark Knight Rises.” Um, wouldn’t they be the first to complain if he hadn’t gone? The comments on Michelle Malkin’s Twitchy site accompanying the article were downright insensitive and plain stupid, but what else should we expect from a self-righteous windbag? What I don’t get is how these right wingers are talking up the gun violence in Chicago as though they care.

Let’s see, did President George W. Bush set foot in Chicago during his presidency when gun violence raged? Don’t get me wrong, Obama, in my opinion has done little to reach out to the black community, like the politicians in Chicago, who seem to have turned a blind eye to the violence. We all know that Michelle Malkin, Laura Ingraham and others are just chewing on sour grapes and really don’t give a shit about what is happening in Chicago. It’s just political venom for them to spew. Bush didn’t land in New Orleans to view the devastation in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina for days and when he did go, he did a fly-over. Two wrongs don’t make it right, but it does show the hypocrisy on both sides.

Dark Knight Gunman James Holmes’ Classmate Yeom Pyo Lee Questioned by Police After ‘Threatening Violence’ (Facebook)

Yeom Pyo Lee, an acquaintance of Aurora theater gunman James Holmes, has been questioned by police after allegedly phoning in a threat in an attempt to have him released from jail. Lee was sought by law enforcement after police received a message from his telephone threatening violence if he wasn’t released from police custody.

Yeom Pyo Lee, thought to be a student in the same PhD program at the University of Colorado-Denver James Holmes dropped, was released by police without being charged after questioning.

Yeom Pyo Lee, who is originally from South Korea, earned a master’s degree in biomedical science from Hallym University before moving to Colorado to study for his doctorate, KDVR reports.

Allie Young [Ali Young], 19, was shot when the gunman, James Holmes, threw the canister on the floor of the movie theater auditorium when she rose to notify others of what was happening. She was shot in the neck. Stephanie Davies, 21, placed her finger over where Allie [Ali Young] had been shot in the neck and called 911. She refused to leave her friend’s side, even as the shooting continued around them.

President Obama told their story because of Stephanie Davies’ selflessness. She didn’t leave her friend, even though her life was hanging in the balance. In fact, she may have saved Allie Young’s life by applying pressure to the wound. President Obama and Jay Carney agree not to use the name of the gunman.

President Obama said, ”Allie stood up, saying that she might need to do something or at least warn the other people who were there, and she was shot in the neck and it punctured a vein, she started spurting blood.”"Stephanie, with the help of others, carried Allie across two parking lots where an ambulance was waiting. Because of Stephanie’s timely actions, I had a conversation with Allie downstairs, and she is going to be fine.”

President Obama quoted Revelation 21:4 — “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain,for the old order of things has passed away.”

Members of Westboro Baptist Church Plan to Protest Memorial Service in Aurora for 12 Victims of Batman Movie Shooting

RODENT-WATCH:  Members of Westboro Baptist Church will be in Aurora, CO, to disrupt the 6:30 p.m. memorial service for the 12 people killed in James Holmes’ shooting rampage at the midnight screening of new Batman flick “Dark Knight Rises” last Friday morning.

Redditors are planning a counter-protest in the form of a ”giant wall of people, amassing more than 5,000 comments thus far. Fred Phelps is worst of what religion has to offer in this country.

Westboro Baptist Church is spreading its venom via the Twitter hashtags #godsenttheshooter and#ThankGodForTheShooter.

Bank of America Sued for Racial Discrimination by Black Former Employee Jack Mitchell

Bank of America and Cantor Fitzgerald have been accused of racial discrimination in two lawsuits in New York, Reuters reports. Jack Mitchell, who is black, accused Bank of America of engaging in the practice of placing black employees at branches in low-income neighborhoods. Mitchell worked with Bank of America between 2007 and 2008. Mitchell claims he was fired in retaliation for complaining about the bank’s “racist practices.” He is reportedly seeking $10 million in damages.

Cantor Fitzgerald is being sued by Jermaine James, who is also black, alleging that in the four years he spent at the investment firm, colleagues made “monkey noises” when he was around and used the n-word on occasion. He also said that a manager responded to his complaints about being held back by suggesting he transfer to a branch where he could “be around his own people.” When he allegedly asked the manager to clarify the statement, the response was “black people.” James, who worked at Cantor Fitzgerald from 2004 to 2008, is asking to be rehired, as well as seeking back pay, bonuses, and punitive damages.

Riots Break Out in Anaheim CA After Manuel Diaz Killed in Police-Involved Shooting

NEWSFLASH (07/24/12):  OC Register – Authorities identified a man fatally shot on Sunday as Joel Mathew Acevedo, 21, and described him as a known gang member, as new clashes reported with protesters blocking lanes.

Citizens protesting the police-involved shooting death of Manuel Diaz sparked riots in Anaheim, Calif. Manuel Diaz was killed Saturday evening after he was chased down an alley and shot by police officers.

About 4 p.m. Saturday, two patrol officers driving down an alley in the 600 block of North Anna Drive saw three men standing near a vehicle. The three men ran away when the officers approached, said Anaheim Police Sgt. Bob Dunn.

“At that time the officer-involved shooting occurred,” he said. Dunn would not give any other details about what happened and why the officer shot the man, stating that the details are under investigation.

The man was in critical condition when he was taken to the hospital, Dunn said, and died at 7 p.m. The two other men got away, he added. Dunn said gang detectives are involved in the investigation. Source: Orange County Register

Witnesses state that Diaz had been hit by one shot and was face down on the ground, though police have not indicated whether he was armed or wanted for any reason other than standing by a truck with two other individuals. The police returned to the scene five hours after the shooting when the crowds would not disperse and tensions hit a boiling point, firing rubber bullets pepper balls into the crowd of men, women, children and babies in strollers, KTLA reports.

I would urge calm. There is no need to solve problems by rioting. The people who are rioting are hurting themselves in the long run. If the officers shot an innocent man, then the truth will come to light. Take the case of Kathryn Johnston, the elderly Atlanta woman was who was killed in a “no-knock” warrant, for example. The officers involved initially lied, saying they found drugs in this woman’s home. An investigation found otherwise and three officers — Arthur Tesler, Jason R. Smith and Gregg Junnier –are behind bars for her death. Calmer heads need to prevail and people should stop jumping to conclusions.

UPDATE#1:  The police chief said two officers have been placed on administrative leave.

Jackie Clemmens and Wife Irene Clemmens Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide in Morganton NC

MORGANTON MURDER-SUICIDE:  Jackie Clemmens and wife Irene Clemmens were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide at a home on Hallyburton Road, in Burke County, NC, Sunday. Sheriff’s deputies responded to the residence and found Irene Clemmens dead from a single gunshot to her chest in the bedroom, the News-Herald reports.

Jackie Clemmens was not in the home. He had called police from the nearby Antioch Food Mart and called police from a pay phone, saying he had accidentally shot and killed Irene Clemmens, 39. He had a history of making threats of harming law enforcement.

Jackie Clemmens committed suicide during an encounter with sheriff’s deputies, after refusing to drop his weapon. Irene Clemmens previously had a restraining order against her husband for domestic violence, but it had since expired. The police had been called to the home before for domestic violence incidents. Another day, another senseless murder-suicide.

Superman won’t hit the silver screen until Summer 2013, but fans got a peek of the trailer for “Man of Steel” this weekend.  The clip shows laundry hanging on a clothesline and Clark Kent (played by Henry Cavill) working on a fishing boat. At the end, the video offers a look at Superman in all his glory, shooting into the sky and breaking the sound barrier. Below are two versions of the “Man of Steel” movie trailer:

SMH: Russian singer Evgeny Nikitin pulled out of the Bayreuth Festival in Germany, where he was scheduled to appear in the “Flying Dutchman” because he has a Nazi tattoo on his arm. Evgeny Nikitin was reportedly a member of a heavy metal band in his early years and got the swastika tattoo then.

Festival spokesman Gunther Philipowski, said,”That is a problem in Bayreuth. Bayreuth has a bad history with the Nazis. It’s clear that Bayreuth has to be careful about this terrible part of history and has to take a position against it,” CNN reports.

Why didn’t Evgeny Nikitin get the tattoo removed by laser rather than “paint it over?” Surely he must have known this was going to come back to haunt him.

Christopher Nolan’s final Batman movie, “Dark Knight Rises,” leads North American weekend box office with an estimated $162 million despite James Holmes shooting rampage at the midnight screening of the film that left 12 dead and 58 wounded, the New York Times reports. Dark Knight Rises came in lower than expectations, but it managed to score one of the best opening weekends at the box office, beaten by “Marvel’s The Avengers” with $207.4 million over its first three days and “Harry Potter and the Deadly Hallows: Part 2” opening with $169.2 million in box office receipts. I must note that the actual receipts won’t be known until Monday, as Warner Bros., rival studios and box office data firm Rentrak have agreed to a black-out, withholding early numbers and their estimates for the weekend out of respect for the victims in Aurora.

Hollywood and the entire country were shocked by former medical student James Eagan Holmes’ shooting rampage at Century 16 Theater that left 12 dead, including six year old Veronica Moser-Sullivan, Air Force Staff Sgt. Jesse Childress, U.S. Navy sailor John T. Larimer, budding sportscaster Jessica Ghawi (Jessica Redfield), Micayla Medek, Gordon Cowden, Alexander Boik, Alex Sullivan, Jonathan Blunk, Matt McQuinn, Alex Teves and Rebecca Wingo. Fifty-eight were wounded, with some still in critical condition.

20th Century Fox “Ice Age: Continental Drift” took second place with a solid $21 million, with a two-week total of about $90 million. Sony Pictures’ “The Amazing Spider-Man” took third place with $11 million, lifting its three-week totals to nearly $229 million, followed by Universal Pictures’ raunchy comedy “Ted” in fourth place with $10 million and a total haul of $180 million, with Disney’s Scottish adventure “Brave” rounding out the top five with $6 million and total of $209 million, the New York Times reports.

“The Dark Knight Rises” was one of the best movies I have watched in recent months. Christian Bale as Batman and Anne Hathaway as the redefined Catwoman gave great performances and the movie was worthy of its nearly three hours. Hathaway delivered a saucy and sexy performance at the same time. Nothing like the other women who played the role.
