#RomneyShambles: More Mitt Romney Sucking-Up, Says U.S. Embassy Should be in Jerusalem

#Romneyshambles: More patronizing of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as Mitt Romney now says the U.S. embassy should be in Jerusalem, not Tel Aviv.

Romney says, he doesn’t endorse an immediate move from Tel Aviv,  but it’s a decision “I would want to take in consultation with the leadership of the government which exists at the time,” Buzzfeed reports.  Excuse me while I barf from the nauseating hypocrisy emanating from Mitt Romney’s lips. This man is acting as though Israel is the super-power and the U.S. isn’t its largest donor of foreign aid. The goal would be to prevent a war with Iran, but Mitt Romney is encouraging one, that will include the U.S., for sure. Can we afford to engage in another war? He’s talking tough on Iran to score browning points with Bibi Netanyahu and his cronies.

This comes as Newsweek magazine calls Mitt Romney a “wimp.”

Newsweek magazine cover Mitt Romney a wimp

#Romneyshambles: Newsweek Calls GOP Presidential Nominee Mitt Romney a Wimp.

Here’s an excerpt from the Daily Beast:

It was an astonishing faux pas—one of many packed into his brief visit. And it makes one wonder: if elected, Romney is going to have to work hand-in-glove with Prime Minister David Cameron and other world leaders on the ongoing global financial crisis and other issues. What unintended offenses are going to tumble out of his mouth then, when he’s representing our nation on the world stage?

The episode highlights what’s really wrong with Romney. He’s kind of lame, and he’s really … annoying. He keeps saying these … things, these incredibly off-key things. Then he apologizes immediately—with all the sincerity of a hostage. Or maybe he doesn’t: sometimes he whines about the subsequent attacks on him. But the one thing he never does? Man up, double down, take his lumps.

Mitt Romney’s response to the cover was that he doesn’t take stuff said about him in the media seriously. Um, my guess is that he does. He’s an egomaniac, albeit a weak one.  Surely he must be embarrassed by the derision he suffered at the hands of both the British and American press over his train wreck of a visit.

Update#1: Robert O’Brien, a foreign policy adviser for Romney, responded to the Newsweek cover:

…The fact is that Mitt Romney is a steely-nerved businessman, who has turned around failed companies, the corruption-plagued 2002 Olympic Winter Games and an almost-bankrupt Massachusetts – against all odds in each case. Moreover, he has raised a great family with his wife, Ann.

Steely-nerved businessman? Is that the characteristic of one who has records destroyed and won’t tell the truth about his business activities? Wow, I don’t believe I’ve ever seen Mittens’ questionable practices described in that way.

#RomneyShambles: Mitt Romney Photo Op at Western Wall on Tisha b’Av, Day of Mourning and Fasting

#Romneyshambles — Would you call Mitt Romney tacky for his photo op on Tisha b’Av, the Jewish day of fasting and mourning? Jonah Goldberg at The Atlantic seems to think so:

Today is Tisha b’Av, the ninth of Av, a Jewish day of fasting and mourning. It is on this day that the First and Second Temples were destroyed. The Western Wall, in Jerusalem, is a retaining wall of the Second Temple. It is, especially on this day, a locus of prayer and reflection. It is also, on this particular Tisha b’Av, the location of a very important photo opportunity for an American presidential candidate. Source: The Atlantic

Daryl Benway Kills Daughter, Critically Wounds Son in Apparent Murder-Suicide After Wife Leaves Him

OXFORD MURDER-SUICIDE:  Daryl Benway kills his daughter Abigail Benway, and wounds his son, Owen Benway, before turning the gun on himself in an apparent murder-suicide after he and his wife, Kelleen, separated three to four weeks ago. He had also recently lost his job, the News Telegram reports.

Authorities said that a family member found the bodies of 41-year-old Daryl Benway and his daughter, Abigail, on Saturday night in their Oxford home. Benway’s 9-year-old son, Owen, was shot in the head and taken to a hospital in serious condition.

Abigail and her father were found in the master bedroom of the Benway’s 128 Main St. residence and his seriously injured son was discovered in the kitchen and transported to UMass Memorial Children’s Medical Center in a critical condition. Source:  Daily Mail

This is a tragedy that could have been avoided. If Daryl Benway could shoot his children, then he has no heart. No decent parent would ever harm their children.

Romney Slams Obama in Israel: “Diplomatic Distance That is Public Emboldens Israel’s Adversaries”

Mitt Romney slams Obama in Israel, though he pledged not to criticize him on foreign soil. Um, should we be of the opinion that he was told to do this by Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu? Not that could have been Sheldon Adelson, the billionaire who is trying to buy the U.S. elections. Romney slammed Obama saying that diplomatic distance that is public and critical damages Israel, the Haaretz reports:

“Diplomatic distance that is public and critical emboldens Israel’s adversaries,” Romney said. Romney made the remarks during a speech in Jerusalem on Sunday evening, after a day spent meeting Israel’s leaders on his official visit to the country. The crowd gathered included the Republican supporter and billionaire Sheldon Adelson, who has donated millions of dollars to the Romney campaign. Source:  Haaretz

Of course, Mitt Romney isn’t apologizing for America. That would be President Obama. What a waste of a candidate. Dick Cheney said it was a mistake to pick Sarah Palin as a running mate. Um, Mitt Romney is also a mistake.

Dick Cheney Says It Was a Mistake to Pick Sarah Palin as Vice Presidential Candidate, What About Him?

Former vice president Dick Cheney told ABC News it was a mistake for Sen. John McCain to have picked Sarah Palin as a running mate four years ago. Um, it was also a mistake for George W. Bush to have picked him as a running mate as well. He said he has given Mitt Romney advice, though he won’t say what that advice is.

“That one,” Cheney said, “I don’t think was well handled.”

“The test to get on that small list has to be, ‘Is this person capable of being president of the United States?’”

Cheney believes Sarah Palin failed that test.

“I like Governor Palin. I’ve met her. I know her. She – attractive candidate. But based on her background, she’d only been governor for, what, two years. I don’t think she passed that test…of being ready to take over. And I think that was a mistake.” Source:  ABC News

Dick Cheney is certainly has a lot of nerve. He seems to think people have forgotten that the bottom of the economic bucket fell out under his and President Bush’s watch. George W. Bush and Dick Cheney waterboarded us.

#RomneyShambles: Mitt Romney apparently takes his marching order from from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to the Haaretz newspaper. Um, I didn’t realize we had a such a close relationship with Israel that they would be playing a role in how a presidential candidate runs his campaign. You see, his Israeli trip isn’t without controversy. The Haaretz reports Benjamin Netanyahu is behind Romney cancelling his meeting with former opposition leader Shelly Yacimovich. That meeting was already planned months ago. The other side to this issue is that he declined to meet a powerful woman in Israeli politics, which can be interpreted as an insult to women.

The two bureaus, Romney’s and Yacimovich’s, began coordinating the meeting, where and how long it would be along with a joint statement to the press. But a week ago, after Kadima head MK Shaul Mofaz left the government, Yacimovich ceased to be opposition leader. Labor Knesset faction head Yitzhak (Buzi) Herzog took the initiative and informed the Romney staff of the change in Yacimovich’s status, and requested that the meeting be cancelled.

Romney’s staff would have none of it. They told Herzog that they were au courant with happenings on the Israeli political scene, knew that Mofaz was now opposition leader (Romney will also meet with him), and insisted on holding the Yacimovich meeting as planned. Source:  Haaretz

The meeting was set for 1:30 p.m. at the King David Hotel Monday, but after a meeting with Netanyahu, Romney cancelled the meeting with the opposition.

And then Romney went into a meeting with Netanyahu at the Prime Minister’s Bureau in Jerusalem. During the course of the meeting the candidate’s staff contacted Herzog to inform him that the meeting had regrettably been cancelled, “for reasons of protocol.” Herzog and Yacimovich have no doubts: Netanyahu, or his people, didn’t approve of the Yacimovich meeting and pressured Romney to cancel it – and succeeded. Source:  Haaretz

This should come as no surprise, since Mitt Romney seems to have a problem following his own lead, which would be the same manner in which he will run his administration — George W. Bush-lite. This also comes as Mitt Romney’s campaign reversed its decision to bar reporters from his fundraiser, breaking protocol. Mitt Romney’s overseas trip has been a fiasco on so many levels. The Brits gave him the right name, a “wazzock.” How does one run for the presidency of the United States of America and hide so much details about oneself? The candidate and his wife went to the Western Wall, um what for? #WesternWall

The road to Washington goes through Israel, why?
