DISGRACE: Ethelda Burke, the Tukwila School District Superintendent, resigned after nine district employees filed racial discrimination complaints against her. Two staff members at Showalter Middle School accused Burke, who is black, of referring to them as “slaves” while another employee said she criticized him for turning the district into a “ghetto” by hiring too many black staff. The allegations carry a lot of weight because the accusers include vice principals, teachers and dispatchers in the Tukwile School District, located near Seattle, Washington.
