Sidney Poitier Set to Get Lifetime Achievement Award By California African American Museum

Legendary actor Sidney Poitier will honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the California African American Museum (CAAM), in a gala dinner on October 6, Indie Wire reports. The 85 year old has been selected to receive the institution’s honor alongside fellow honoree, Los Angeles-based sculptor John Outterbridge. Previous awardees include Herbie Hancock and Muhammad Ali.

BLACK-ON-BLACK CRIME:  Otis Ricks has been arrested in the murder of Atlanta bar owner Vanessa Elaine Thrasher, who was murdered at her O. T.’s Lounge and Soul Food Grill. Otis Ricks, 23,  was arrested at the Hotel Magnolia on Old National Highway and the police spokeswoman said more arrests are expected.
