Two US Marines killed in Afghanistan: Two U.S. Marines were killed early Saturday during a ‘sustained attack’ at a joint base in southern Afghanistan’s Helmand province. Three or four troops were wounded. Attackers reportedly used a combination of small firearms and rocket-propelled grenades in their attack. The attackers may have breached the ‘outer perimeter’ of the base, which includes the American-run Camp Leatherneck and the British-run Camp Bastion, where Prince Harry is stationed.
Right wing evangelical wingnut Bryan Fischer is sounding an alarm of sorts that laughable — the GOP will implode if Mitt Romney loses the general election. Talking Points Memo reports Fischer said, “If Barack Obama wins this election the Republican Party as we know it is finished, it is dead, it is toast — you can stick a fork in it.” He also has a problem with Mitt Romney and how he is running his campaign. When the crazy guy has a problem with the candidate he supports, you know that candidate is in bad shape.

Fischer said he believed Romney would be leading national polls by double digits at this point if he had followed Paul Ryan’s lead and offered more detailed conservative positions on the budget and social issues. “The biggest mistake is they put a bag over Paul Ryan’s head,” he said. Fischer said he was “deeply disturbed” that Ryan didn’t mention the campaign’s opposition to gay marriage in his speech to the summit on Friday.

Here’s what’s disturbing — a wingnut like Bryan Fischer wants to take over the Republican Party and force their narrow views on everyone else. You see, Paul Ryan was the perfect candidate for the right wing evangelicals. One thing I will say, he is more of a conservative than Mitt Romney ever will be. On that point I will concede that Bryan Fischer might be right. But, most Americans, like myself, are moderates and a moderate presidential candidate should be attractive. Nobody knows what the heck Mitt Romney is. He’s whatever is politically correct at that given time. He’s like a chameleon, changing his positions constantly. Mr. Multiple Choice indeed. Well, if the poll numbers continue on the current trend, I guess we’ll see the end of the Republican Party because Obama will be reelected.
KSDK: “One of the Republican appointees to the Electoral College has resigned abruptly from her post after publicly questioning whether she would support the GOP’s presidential ticket when casting official votes after the November election. Melinda Wadsley of Ames, Iowa, tells The Associated Press that she could not in good conscience vote for party nominee Mitt Romney. Wadsley was among three electors who had told the AP for a story published Thursday that they were exploring alternatives should Romney win their states. Wadsley had backed candidate Ron Paul.”
Occupy Wall Street Activist Jackie Barcliff Wanted for Raping Fellow Protester, Throwing Her Off 2nd Story Park Railing
SHAME: Jackie Barcliff, 44, is identified as the Occupy Wall Street activist who was wanted for raping a fellow OWS protester and then throwing her over a second-story park railing earlier this week, the NY Daily News reports.
The NYPD released a photo of suspect Jackie Barcliff, 44. Detectives believe met his 56-year-old victim during previous Occupy activities, police said.
After the sex attack, the victim was tossed from the elevated park space, falling about 20 feet, breaking her pelvis and right arm, police sources said. She was found about 2 a.m. Monday morning. Her pants and underwear had been removed, the sources said, before she was thrown from the elevated park, which is at Pier 15 near South Street Seaport in Manhattan. Source

I am a die hard James Bond fan, so I will be going to see the movie on opening day. The movie also features Javier Bardem, Dame Judi Dench, Ralph Fiennes, Albert Finney and Berenice Marlohe.

The Chinese aren’t taking what Mitt Romney is dishing out their way lightly. You will recall he called China a currency manipulator, to which the China’s official Xinhua news agency calls foolish and hypocritical. The scathing rebuke of Mitt Romney also said his actions would “trigger a catastrophic trade war and damage the already weak global economic recovery.” Here’s the obliteration of Mitt Romney by Chinese:
“It is rather ironic that a considerable portion of this China-battering politician’s wealth was actually obtained by doing business with Chinese companies before he entered politics,” Xinhua wrote.
“Such blaming-China-on-everything remarks are as false as they are foolish, for it has never been a myth that pushing up the value of China’s currency would be of little use to boost the chronically slack job market of the world’s sole superpower, not to mention to magically turn the poor U.S. economic performance around.”
Xinhua said such China-bashing had been “a cancer in U.S. electoral politics, seriously plaguing the relations between the two countries.
“It has also become a handy tool for U.S. politicians who try to court the votes and support of ill-informed voters by ratcheting up antagonistic sentiment towards China, while truly serious social and economic woes within the United States have been left unfixed.”
The United States should “put its own fiscal house back in order, substantially slash its tremendous military expenditure, and optimize its economic structure”, it added.
Damn, yesterday Joe Scarborough eviscerated Mitt Romney and today the Chinese news agency did it all over again. Mitt Romney talks tough, but this is a league in which he is in over his head.
A second name has surfaced in the anti-Muslim film, “Innocence of Muslims,” that sparked protests against the U.S. in the Middle East. News reports claim Joseph Nassralla Abdelmasih, president of the Duarte-based charity Media for Christ, is an associate of Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, the convicted felon believed to be Sam Bacile, the man behind the movie. Both men are reportedly Egyptian immigrants and appear to have gone into hiding.

Samuel L. Jackson will film a provocative spot supporting President Obama’s re-election bid as early as tomorrow — telling voters to “Wake the f–k up, Vote for Obama.” The ad is a riff on Jackson’s viral video “Go the F–k to Sleep,” where he narrates a children’s book written by Adam Mansbach.

Romney Campaign Claims Embassy Attack Wouldn’t Have Occurred if He Were President, AKA ‘Moses’
SMH: Mitt Romney seems to think he’s Moses, who can command the Red Seas to part and ignite the burning bush just by saying the word. His top foreign policy adviser, Richard Williamson, claims we wouldn’t be seeing this type of demonstration if Mitt Romney had been president. The man lives in an alternate universe. The Middle East has always been a tinderbox.
“There’s a pretty compelling story that if you had a President Romney, you’d be in a different situation,” Richard Williamson, a top Romney foreign policy adviser, said in an interview. “For the first time since Jimmy Carter, we’ve had an American ambassador assassinated.”
Williamson added, “In Egypt and Libya and Yemen, again demonstrations — the respect for America has gone down, there’s not a sense of American resolve and we can’t even protect sovereign American property.”
Interesting. Were there numerous embassy attacks under the George W. Bush administration? Here’s the bigger question for me, where are the “real” policy experts that Mitt Romney has around him? Richard Williamson and Dan Senor (Mr. Campbell Brown) aren’t experts. They are on the periphery of truly qualified people to help Romney make plausible decisions. Mitt Romney doesn’t explain what he would have done to make the U.S. foreign policy better. Um, that’s because he has no vision and is just reciting talking points from two policy neophytes.
