The Obama campaign is targeting the youth vote with its new campaign video, featuring Kal Penn and John Cho, the stoner duo from the wildly successful Harold & Kumar series. The new ad features Kal Penn and John Cho sitting on a couch and watching TV surrounded by cheeots, half-eaten pizza and orange soda, when Penn receives a phone call from President Obama.
Kal Penn once worked in the Obama administration as a liaison between the White House and Asian communities. He will host “Live From Charlotte,” a web-only DNC special Thursday night. Programming will include interviews with campaign officials and feature special guests such as Fran Drescher, Elizabeth Banks, Aisha Tyler, Zach Braff and Olivia Wilde.
The Obama campaign is being criticized for its hypocrisy by critics of the White House drug policy:
Talking Points Memo: “The fact Obama uses these characters to joke about this issue while on the other hand continuing to arrest people he’s appealing to is really disingenuous,” Morgan Fox, communications director for the Marijuana Policy Project, told TPM Tuesday. “As president he conducts more raids on medical marijuana facilities than Bush.”
Um, Morgan Fox go ahead and endorse Mitt Romney, I’m sure he and his lying side-kick will back your organizations’s goals 110 percent. Of course, I am being sarcastic because donkeys will fly before Mitt Romney legalizes marijuana in this country. Marijuana Policy Project? Really? Of course, the ad had nothing to do with pot, but far be it for me to make a counter argument to Obama critics.
