Mitt Romney realizes that he needs to save face with the black community and has now thrown a Hail Mary pass, with his campaign’s announcement of its Black Leadership Council, chaired by Reps. Tim Scott and House negro Rep. Allen West. The goal of the council is to “help facilitate dialogue between Mitt Romney and respected leaders who provide unique expertise, experience and knowledge on a range of issues impacting black American communities,” according to the campaign.

Um, one word to Mitt Romney and his folks,  if you want to appeal to the black community, you don’t do it through a wingnut like Rep. Allen West, who has represented the black community poorly in Washington D.C.  Where’s J.C. Watts and even Ron Christie? Damn, Herman Cain and Michael Steele weren’t on the radar? Wow. Isn’t the Romney campaign’s decision to reach out to the black community a little too late, with the election weeks away?  The Republican Party has a diversity problem and they need to tackle that sincerely.

    Janet:

Do you mind if I frame this properly for you?

MITT ROMNEY WILL NOT GET A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF THE “BLACK VOTE”, REGARDLESS OF WHAT HE DOES or WHO HE PUTS ON A PANEL.

In logical terms – this fact, as we go back for the past 50 years shows WHO’S FINGER PRINTS ARE ON THE “STEERING WHEEL” of the Black American Agenda.
It is NOT the forces who CAN’T CONVINCE BLACK PROGRESSIVES TO VOTE FOR THEM.

While you are busy telling how Romney is repugnant to you and other Black Progressives – you can’t bring yourself to focus on your community interests and WHO stands as an inside player.

Despite the ability to be AGREEABLE to your sentiments they have been raking up a series of failures to develop our people.

The Democrats see that it is a good thing that you are more OFFENDED by the words from Hailey Barbour because otherwise your angst would be directed at those who are actually in the seat of power over your key “Human Resource Development Institutions.

How long are you going to keep this up Janet?

You seem to be missing the elephant in the room, Janet. If the white, Hispanic, Asian or Jewish cohorts voted at 94% for their ethno-similar guy, you and your colleagues would be quick to label it a form of racism. But because black folks do it, they get a pass.

Calling Allen West a “house negro” is about as low as you can go. This implies subservience and fear. West was an Army Lt. Col. who had command authority over a large section of soldiers, typically hundreds – black, white, and everything else. I would have gladly followed a guy of his character and knowledge, and for you to question his courage, competence and honor shows your readers your own prejudice toward someone of color who just doesn’t happen to share your views about the Democratic Plantation. Ironic, ain’t it?
