Civil rights icon Joseph Lowery is making waves after he said all “white people are going to hell” because of the “level of hatred and bitterness” inthe presidential campaign. That’s very harsh considering that he wouldn’t want a white person to say all blacks are going to hell. Lowery made the comments at a weekend rally in Forsyth, Ga. He also said “I don’t know what kind of a nigger wouldn’t vote with a black man running.” Um, really Mr. Lowery? Senility setting in?

Lowery praised Obama’s commitment to the poor and said politicians should quit saying ‘middle class’ and go ahead and say ‘poor.’ Then he urged individuals to look at their own character and conduct. ”We’ve turned our backs on the faith,” said Lowery. “America is going to hell in a hand basket. We need to straighten up so God can use us.”

Lowery said that when he was a young militant, he used to say all white folks were going to hell. Then he mellowed and just said most of them were. Now, he said, he is back to where he was. ”I’m frightened by the level of hatred and bitterness coming out in this election,” said Lowery. Source

I am disappointed that Mr. Lowery felt the only way he could empower blacks to go out and vote is by calling them niggers and also telling them to vote for the black guy because he’s black. That’s not what this is all about. Of course, the right wing is trying to pull a Jeremiah Wright, portraying Lowery as a close friend of President Obama. How many ugly words did we hear from Romney pals such as Donald Trump and Joe Arpaio? Two wrongs don’t make it right, but just saying…..

Elzbieta Plackowska Arrested After Olivia Dworakowski and Seven Year Old Boy Found Stabbed to Death in Naperville IL

SHOCK: Elzbieta Plakowska, 40, was charged with murdering her seven year old son and five year old Olivia Dworakoswki, Naperville, IL, police said. Elzbieta Plackowska was the babysitter of Olivia Dworakowski. Police said she had been behaving erratically before stabbing the two kids. This is eerily reminiscent of Yoselyn Ortega, a New York City nanny who stabbed to death Leo and Lucia Krim, children of Kevin and Marina Krim last week. Elzbieta Plackowska was reportedly arguing with her husband after her father had recently died in Poland and she wanted to return there against her spouse’s wishes, the Chicago Sun Times reports. Elzbieta Plackowska also reportedly stabbed two dogs to death in the home.

Naperville Babysitter Arrested in Stabbing Deaths of Two Kids, Ages Five and Seven

Naperville babysitter arrested: Less than a week after New York City nanny Yoselyn Ortega fatally stabbed Leo and Lucia Krim to death, a five year old girl and a seven year old boy were found stabbed to death in a home in Naperville, IL. Police said the woman was babysitting the girl and the boy was her son. She was reportedly covered in blood at the time of her arrest. Charges are forthcoming.

The girl attended kindergarten at Brookdale Elementary School and the boy is a student at Scott Elementary School. Officials there have called in the Indian Prairie School District 204 crisis team, WLS-TV reports.

Top Six Reasons Why We Should Vote to Reelect President Obama Include Saving Auto Industry

President Obama has shown us that he can work in a bipartisan spirit, but has been stymied for his entire term in office by over zealous Republicans who are putting their needs ahead of their constituents. Republican leaders such as Sen. Mitch McConnell said his goal was to make sure Obama is a one-term president. In other words, they have no intention of working with him. Well, NJ Gov. Chris Christie bucked the trend by working closely with the president on the devastation left behind by Super Storm Sandy.

Here is my list of the Top Six  Reasons Why We Should Re-elect President Obama on November 6, 2012:

1. Auto industry:  President Barack Obama rescued the auto industry and saved thousands of jobs. Contrary to what the Romney campaign would have you believe, he didn’t force GM and Chrysler into bankruptcy, nor is Chrysler outsourcing Jeep jobs to China.  Further, the U.S. auto industry has added nearly a quarter million jobs since June 2009.

2. Education:  President Obama’s  education initiatives have succeeded. He doubled funding for Pell Grants, which helped to make college more affordable for nearly 10 million families. Further, his student loan reform eliminated billions in subsidies for banks, or middle men, and reinvested those savings directly to students. Lastly, the Race to the Top Initiative helped nearly every state raise academic standards. His commitment to education is second to none.

3. Economy:  President Obama has signed 18 tax cuts for small businesses since taking office, though Mitt Romney and his sidekick Paul Ryan, would have you believe he’s out to get small businesses. Additionally, President Obama’s tax cuts, social-welfare programs, and economic policies lifted over six million Americans above the federal poverty line in 2010. He fought for and  won middle-class tax cuts for that saved the typical family $3,600 in taxes over the last four years. Further, he fought for Wall Street reform that led to the creation of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, a federal agency charged with focusing solely on consumer financial protection. That was a first in the nation.

4. Obamacare — yes, which is child of Romneycare,  made it possible for over three million more young adults have health insurance today. Insurance discrimination against the approximate 129 million Americans with pre-existing conditions, came to a screeching halt under Obamacare. Instead of dismissing the uninsured to get medical attention at emergency rooms as his opponent suggests, he fought to help those uninsured get coverage via his landmark legislation.

5. National Security:  President Obama kept us safe, ended the war in Iraq and will bring the Afghanistan war to an end in 2014. He oversaw the assassination of 9/11 mastermind Osama bin Laden and killed many al Qaeda and Taliban leaders. He sent the largest security assistance package to Israel in history and funded the Iron Dome system, which is protecting Israeli homes and schools from rocket attacks. Though Israeli Prime Minister would rather take sides with his buddy Mitt Romney. President Obama also rallied the international community to impose the toughest sanctions on Iran to-date. He didn’t go it unilaterally, as Mr. Cold War Mitt Romney wants to do. He He fought hard and won the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” allowing gay and lesbian members of the military to serve openly for the first time in history.

6. Immigration:  When Congress failed to act on a comprehensive overhaul of the immigration system, he signed an executive order that halted deportation of young immigrants brought to the U.S. as children.

Mitt Romney, on the other hand, has a history we can’t quite verify completely. He refuses to show us his tax returns, he stashed much of his money in off-shore bank accounts, refuses to say exactly how he created jobs during his tenure at Bain Capital and was largely M.I.A. as governor of Massachusetts, where he took a lot of vacation time. His track record on disaster management is abysmal. His track record on bipartisanship depends on who you ask and he is all over the place where the issues are concerning, tailoring his message according to the audience he’s addressing. He has sunk to a new low by shamelessly and with a straight face claiming Chrysler is outsourcing jobs to China.

We don’t need someone as president whose mental health is a cause for concern, as Ann Romney said of her husband. That little side-show he put on yesterday that was supposed to be a storm relief event, turned out to be a glorified campaign event with photo ops for the candidate and his sidekick Paul Ryan. He was mum on his stance on FEMA, though he changed positions today saying he will make sure the agency has all the funds it needs. Um, didn’t he say he would get rid of FEMA since it wasn’t fair to burden our kids with these types of expenditures? Just the mere thought of how this man changes positions like one changes lanes on the freeway, that’s enough for me to say, um, no, not my vote. Full disclosure:  I already voted for President Obama in early voting in my state.

President Obama Meets NJ Gov. Chris Christie to Tour Areas Devastated by Sandy

President Obama greets NJ Gov. Chris Christie on the tarmac to commence his tour of the damage left behind by super storm Sandy. This will most undoubtedly rile the Republicans.  Personally, I don’t believe Gov. Christie is trying to subvert Mitt Romney, but he’s trying to do his job as governor and that’s all that matters. At the end of the day, parading around with Mitt Romney would only be a photo op. He can’t approve anything. That’s the president’s job.

A spate of anti-Obama text messages has been traced to conservative activist Jason Flanary and his Virginia-based communications firm, ccAdvertising. I’m sure no one is surprised a Republican operative is behind these unsavory text messages.

Every domain listed in previous stories about the controversy now displays [Jason Flanary] as the registrant and lists a Centreville, Va., address and phone number, as well as an indication that the domain had been “suspended for spam and abuse.” Domain registrar GoDaddy.com unmasks registrants when they violate terms of service.

The Romney campaign distanced itself from the controversy. “We have nothing to do with these texts and we don’t know where they’re coming from,” Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul told POLITICO.

Many of the messages, which violated FEC regulations because they didn’t include information on their origins, were vitriolic. They included attacks on President Barack Obama related to his support of gay marriage, abortion rights and Planned Parenthood.

They included “Obama stole $716 Billion in Medicare. We cant [sic] trust Obama to protect our seniors,” “VP Biden mocks a fallen Navy Seal during memorial. Our military deserves better,” and “Obama believes killing children is a right until the umbilical cord is cut. Source

Can’t wait to hear what the FEC is going to do about this mess and no matter how Romney tries to act presidential, he or his buddies always manage to bungle it.

Toesucker Dick Morris is predicting that Mitt Romney will win the presidency by a landslide. Um, I would urge you to consider the source of this prediction and you will shake your head. He has been wrong on every other prediction he has made since his years as a Bill Clinton adviser:

Voters have figured out that President Obama has no message, no agenda and not even much of an explanation for what he has done over the past four years. His campaign is based entirely on persuading people that Mitt Romney is a uniquely bad man, entirely dedicated to the rich, ignorant of the problems of the average person. As long as he could run his negative ads, the campaign at least kept voters away from the Romney bandwagon. But once we all met Mitt Romney for three 90-minute debates, we got to know him — and to like him. He was not the monster Obama depicted, but a reasonable person for whom we could vote.

[...]

Or will the Romney momentum grow and wash into formerly safe Democratic territory in New Jersey and Oregon? Source:  The Hill

Yeah, that’s why Mitt Romney has a blatantly inaccurate ad about Jeep jobs moving to China in Ohio. That’s coming from a position of desperation on his part. If he wins by a landslide it will be because they stole the election. Lawdy, break out the champagne, start the presses, Dick Morris, who has zero credibility except on Fox News, is predicting a Romney landslide. Yeah, right. Yeah, donkeys will fly first.

Hey Dick, here’s what the Associated Press has to say about Obama’s political advantage today:

By commanding the response to a ferocious October storm a week before the election, Obama is employing a political advantage in the race to be president.

He is the president.

Clearly, Obama’s imperative to act transcends the election. Superstorm Sandy’s wrath is real. At a time of death and danger, any president is expected to lead for the people of every state, battleground or otherwise.

Yet in a political sense — and politics are absolutely part of this — Obama has a remarkable last-minute chance to campaign for his job just by doing his job.

Republican nominee Mitt Romney can load canned food onto donation trucks; Obama can order aid and assets to the entire Northeastern corridor.

Labeled by Romney as the big government guy, Obama is the one slashing red tape and telling governors to call him directly if they hit a single bureaucratic snag.

Don’t underestimate the power of President Obama. You know, that kid in the White House, Ann Romney has been saying her husband, the grown-up, could do better than.

NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg Turns Down Obama Offer to Visit Sandy-Ravaged City, Saying “They Have a Lot to Do”

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is wrong for turning down President Obama’s offer to visit New York City to show his support for the victims of the post-tropical cyclone Sandy disaster. He said it wasn’t a “diss” of the president, but they have a lot to do. Um, really? Nobody told George W. Bush to stay away from Ground Zero after the terrorist attacks on 9/11.

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg (I) turned down an offer from President Obama to visit the storm-ravaged Big Apple, but he said Tuesday that his rejection wasn’t meant as an insult.

“What I pointed out to them is we would love to have him, but we have lots of things to do,” Bloomberg said at a press conference. “I’m not trying to diss him. But I know he had planned a trip to New Jersey, and I said that’s fine. It represents the whole region.”

The mayor, who has stayed neutral in this year’s presidential race, added that he was “flattered” by Obama’s offer and that the Federal Emergency Management Agency has been “very helpful to us.”

Obama heads to New Jersey today to tour damage with Gov. Chris Christie (R-N.Y.), an outspoken critic of the president who has had nothing but praise for the president’s storm response. Source

Um, sorry, but that’s a diss and it will come back to bite Michael Bloomberg in the butt. I would venture to say that the president has a right to visit any area of this country he chooses.

Post-Tropical Cyclone Sandy Gives President Obama Political Advantage with Commander-in-Chief Moment

When the devastating post-tropical cyclone Sandy hit the East Coast, I felt it would be a political advantage for President Obama because he and not his GOP rival Mitt Romney, who cannot sign one document ordering assistance in any of the affected cities. This disaster makes Mitt Romney look irrelevant and that works to President Obama’a favor. When you have the governor of New Jersey, Chris Christie, dismissing being seen with Romney in what would amount to a photo op, in a possible tour of the devastated areas in his city, that pretty much sums up his irrelevance. Well, it seems the Washington Post shares my views:

”For a day at least, Hurricane Sandy appears to have done for President Obama what he has not been able to do for himself.”

“In a campaign notable mostly for its negativity, the historic storm provided Obama with a commander-in-chief moment a week before Election Day. The president gained a rare moment of bipartisan praise, with Democratic and Republican governors alike commending the performance of the federal government. And the storm put on pause, for now, the sense that rival Mitt Romney had all the momentum in the home stretch.”
