SHAME:  New York Jets owner Woody Johnson said a Mitt Romney win is more important than a Jets win. Um, so Jets fans are being played for fools by Johnson, a heir to the Johnson & Johnson fortune. He appeared on Bloomberg TV’s Market Makers, when co-host Stephanie Ruhle asked him which was more important – a winning season for the Jets, or an election victory for Mitt Romney?

Johnson: ‘Well I think you always have to put country first. So I think it’s very very important – not only for us but in particular our kids and grandkids – that this election come off with Mitt Romney and [Paul] Ryan as president and vice president. Source

Woody Johnson is a Romney campaign finance co-chair, so his position shouldn’t come as a surprise, but it plays into Rupuert Murdoch’s comments that Mitt Romney should ditch his friends and hire qualified people to help run his campaign. Woody Johnson is dissing Jets fans, many of whom are in the 47 percent of Americans his homebody called deadbeats.

Obama Campaign Features Brittany, a Woman with Down Syndrome, to Slam Mitt Romney on 47 Percent Comment

The Obama campaign went there by using Brittany, a woman who has Down Syndrome to slam Mitt Romney’s 47 percent insult. Here’s an excerpt from the campaign:

Hello! My name is Brittany and I live in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. I am 25 years old (but I will be 26 on October 3rd!). I am a registered Democrat and I have been voting since I was 18. I am one of the 47% of Americans who fall under Mitt Romney’s definition of “entitled” and “unable to take responsibility for my life.” I have Down syndrome.

I started working part-time in 2004 when I was in high school. I graduated in 2008 and have worked at that job ever since. My employer receives money from the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare so that I can work, and the public transportation people receive money from them to take me back and forth to work. My mother applied for Social Security’s Supplemental Security Income program (SSI) for me when I was 19. I really want to make lots of money and have a hot tub someday, but SSI subtracts my paychecks from my SSI benefits, so I don’t have much to put into a savings account.

This comes as a labor union released a pro-Obama spot, featuring Richard Hayes, Mitt Romney’s trash collector at his La Jolla, Calif., mansion.

Is Richard Hayes, Mitt Romney’s La Jolla CA Garbage Man, His Willie Horton?

Is Richard Hayes, Mitt Romney’s La Jolla CA Garbage Man, His Willie Horton?

Even Mitt Romney’s garbage man, Richard Hayes, is taking offense to his 47 percent insult. Yeah, Richard Hayes is the dude who picks up trash at Romney’s ocean-front mansion in La Jolla, Calif. Labor union AFSCME is out with a new spot, featuring Hayes saying how hard he works in his job everyday and says “we’re kind of the invisible people:”

My name is Richard Hayes, and I pick up Mitt Romney’s trash. We’re kind of like the invisible people. He doesn’t realize that the service we provide — if it wasn’t for us, it would be a big health issue, us not picking up trash.

Residents do come out and shake our hands. Sometimes they give us hugs and thank us for the job we’re doing, hand us water and Gatorades. Tell us we’re doing a good job and keep up the good work. Picking up 15, 16 tons by hand, that takes a toll on your body. When I’m 55, 60 years old, I know my body’s gonna be break down [sic]. Mitt Romney doesn’t care about that.

It’s pretty obvious that Richard Hayes, who is black, is being used as Romney’s Willie Horton, to dig in on his comment that 47 percent of Americans are deadbeat and want government assistance rather than taking responsibility for their lives. Well, this is another reason why Black America will come out in force for President Obama on November 6.

BET News is doing something new and interesting.  I applaud them for bringing more political news to their viewers with the “Second Coming?: Will Black America Decide the 2012 Election,” which premiers Friday October 19 and 26th at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

NEW YORK, Oct. 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — BET News has partnered with the Brick City TV producers Marc Levin and Mark Benjamin, (producers of the Peabody Award-winning and twice Emmy nominated series “Brick City“) and Emmy Award-winning and Academy Award nominated filmmaker Sam Pollard (“Slavery By Another Name” and “Four Little Girls”) to produce a two-part news documentary, “SECOND COMING?: WILL BLACK AMERICA DECIDE THE 2012 ELECTION.”

The documentary follows a diverse constellation of agents of political change and activism through the 2012 election cycle.  Obama surrogate Kerry Washington, Usher, Samuel L. Jackson, Reverend Al Sharpton, Reverend. Jesse Jackson, Eve, Ice Cube, Yolanda Adams, pollster Cornell Belcher, Common, Snoop Dogg, 2 Chainz, A$AP Rocky, The RZA, Salt N Pepa, DMX, Redman, Cam’ron, Bun B, Joyful Drake, Warren G and Brandon & Lorielle Broussard, the young activists behind “Barack The Vote.” Narrated by S. Epatha Merkerson the series will also focus on grassroots activists in battleground states Tarsha Williams, Charles Perry, Pastor Jamal Bryant and others who will take viewers behind the scenes of their effort to mobilize the black community to vote in another historic Presidential election.

“Horse-race coverage of this election is now ubiquitous, almost to the point of distraction for many viewers.  We sought a new way to bring the biggest story of the year – the fate of the first African-American incumbent President – to our audience in an engaging, highly journalistic way,” said Loretha Jones, President of Original Programming and News, BET Networks. “We are excited to be working with Sam Pollard and Brick City TV who have helped us reinvent political coverage for our audience.”

“Brick City wanted to do a series that fuses the personal and the political and that engages the BET audience,” said Marc Levin, Executive Producer, Brick City. “We want the series to leave the audience wanting to be players not just spectators in this historic election,” added Mark Benjamin, Executive Producer, Brick City.

“This groundbreaking series is a must see for the BET audience,” said Executive Producer Sam Pollard. “The series digs deep and hits hard and is a must see for viewers in understanding how they can’t just be bystanders but fully engaged in this historic election.”

Hugo Chavez: “If I Was from The United States, I Would Vote for Obama”

QUOTE OF THE DAY: “I hope this doesn’t harm Obama, but if I was from the United States, I’d vote for Obama.” — Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez.

Chavez also told Reuters:  “Obama is a good guy … I think that if Obama was from Barlovento or some Caracas neighborhood, he’d vote for Chavez,” the president told state TV, referring to a poor coastal town known for the African roots of its population.

Chavez is one of the world’s most strident critics of Washington and his 14 years in office have been characterized by diplomatic spats and insults at the White House.

He called former U.S. President George W. Bush a “drunk” and the “devil.” After an initial overture to Obama came to nothing, he said the new president had disappointed progressives the world over and was the “shame” of Africans.

Promising college hockey player Clayton S. Whittemore is accused of killing his girlfriend, Alexandra Kogut, a student at the SUNY College at Brockport in upstate New York, Saturday. Reports are that Clayton Whittemore allegedly confessed to the heinous crime, but pled not guilty. He has been charged with second-degree murder. Alexandra Kogut, 21,  reportedly suffered ‘extensive trauma to the upper body’, according to the campus chief of police.

Whittemore was arraigned in Sweden Town Court and pleaded not guilty. He appeared in front of Justice Robert Connors and was represented by Julie Cianca of the Monroe County Public Defender’s Office.

The judge said he did not have the proper authority to set bail, and Whittemore was remanded to the custody of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and sent to jail. A preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. Thursday at Town Court.

A felony complaint stated Whittemore admitted to killing the victim, and that the time of death was between 1 and 2:30 a.m.
