Jonathan Holt, a 24 year old Gresham resident, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated murder in the death of missing Starbucks barista Whitney Heichel, whose body was found on Larch Mountain. Whitney Heichel, 21, vanished Tuesday on her way to work. Police arrested Jonathan Holt after collecting DNA and fingerprints and conducting three interviews with him over several days. He lived in the same apartment complex as Heichel and her husband, Clint Heichel.
Whitney Heichel was reported missing by her husband after she failed to show for her 7 a.m. shift at a Starbucks in Gresham, a suburb of Portland. The drive from her apartment complex to her job takes less than five minutes. Police said Heichel’s ATM card was used at a Troutdale gas station at 9:14 a.m. and her SUV was found in the Wal-Mart parking lot with the passenger side winder smashed. Later that day, a child found her cell phone in a field that near the gas station and the Wal-Mart store.
