Cottages of Woodstock HOA President Sends Email Warning of Possible Civil Unrest After Election

Right wing fearmongering:  Bill Stanley, homeowners’ association president of The Cottages of Woodstock subdivision, sent an email alerting residents that the entrance gates would be closed 24 hours a day beginning Tuesday at 6 p.m. out of possible civil unrest after the election. Um, the unrest will come if Mitt Romney wins and Barack Obama supporters will go berserk.  Right wing fearmongering.

“I feel it is better to take a position of caution to enhance controlled access to the community until we see what (if any) negative repercussions may occur because of the results of the election,” wrote Bill Stanley, the president of the homeowners’ association at the Cottages of Woodstock, a residential community for people 55 and over.
The entrance gates have been open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. during various construction projects. Mr. Stanley said the gates would be closed round the clock until next Monday – “if all goes well.”

The e-mail, which took some residents by surprise, was the latest sign that fringe voices predicting looting and rioting after the election have been making some nervous. The radical predictions have had an anti-Obama tinge, with some warning of civil disobedience depending on whether President Obama wins or loses the election. Source

Well, I have lived in the metro Atlanta area for over 13 years and I have yet to see any civil unrest erupt over the results of a presidential election or any election for that matter.  This is the typical racist dog whistle the Romney campaign has fomented and it’s a sad attempt to divide. Woodstock, though predominantly white, has grown more diverse in recent years. There are healthy mix of black and Hispanic families in the city. It would be interesting to hear the real motivation behind Bill Stanley’s actions. The police department said they didn’t communicate such concerns to him, so where did he get that idea? From right wing evangelical Bryan Fischer?

The 2012 presidential campaign has had some memorable moments, from Texas Gov. Rick Perry drawing a blank on which government departments he would cut, to Rick Santorum saying Mitt Romney is the worst candidate to go up against Barack Obama to Mitt Romney’s Big Bird attacks, binders full of women and President Obama’s “horses and bayonets” comeback. Here are the moments captured on video:

1. Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s Oops moment during the Republican Party primary debate in November 2011, when he struggled to name three federal agencies he would eliminate as president — “Commerce, Education and…..”

2. Clint Eastwood’s bizarre “empty chair” spiel during the Republican Convention in Tampa. I guess he should give Mitt Romney the same treatment on Wednesday if he loses the presidential election:

3. Mitt Romney’s “binders full of women” comment during the presidential debate when he falsely claimed that he initiated a study to seek women to fill leadership roles in his administration as Massachusetts governor:

4. Mitt Romney’s $10,000 bet to TX Gov. Rick Perry

5. Newt Gingrich’s promise to establish a permanent U.S. base on the moon “by the end of my second term:”

QUOTE OF THE DAY:  ”If I hear anybody say it was because Romney wasn’t conservative enough I’m going to go nuts. We’re not losing 95% of African-Americans and two-thirds of Hispanics and voters under 30 because we’re not being hard-ass enough.”

Politico quotes Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), saying that demographics would be the only reason for a hypothetical Mitt Romney loss Tuesday.

Yeah, the blame game has begun and the election isn’t even over. Funny he should bring up Hispanic voters. Latino Decisions found that Hispanics support President Obama in historic numbers — 73 percent. They believe that’s enough to carry President Obama to victory in four swing states and ultimately to win re-election. Those four swing states are  Nevada, Colorado, Virginia, and Florida.

A newly released report from Latino Decisions, says President Obama is “poised to win a record high share of the Latino vote, and in turn likely to win key swing states and enough electoral college votes to retain the presidency.” Latino Decisions says that voting bloc is enough to put President Obama over the top in swing states and help him get reelected.

Latino Decisions shows Obama earning the support of 73 percent of Latino voters with “consistent vote history or have already voted” — creating big separation from Mitt Romney, who picks up only 24 percent. If Obama reaches such a high-level of support, he would exceed former President Bill Clinton’s 72 percent share of the Latino vote in 1996.  Matt Barreto, principal investigator for Latino Decisions, said that could augur well for Obama in a handful of key battlegrounds. Romney Campaign Desperation: Paul Ryan Says Obama Threatens Judeo-Christian Values

The Romney campaign is in desperation mode. Paul Ryan told a group of Evangelical Christians that President Obama’s second term plans threaten Judeo-Christian values. That’s the equivalent of throwing a Hail Mary pass, hoping it will stick. Yeah, people like Pastor Charles Stanley should drink that Kool-Aid fast. I’m sure he could come up with some Scriptures to bolster Ryan’s assertion. Zeke Miller reports, this was ”a dramatic charge aimed at the Republican base, and delivered during a conference call that did not appear on his public schedule.” Um, Paul Ryan is trying to paint President Obama as an outsider. The Romney campaign’s race-baiting is so transparent.

In his remarks to what organizers said were tens of thousands of members of the Faith and Freedom Coalition, Ryan said that President Barack Obama’s path for the next four years is a “dangerous” one.

“[It is] a path that compromises those values — those Judeo-Christian values that made us a great nation in the first place,” he said, referring to religious liberty and Obamacare.

On the call, Ryan said he has been “sustained” on the campaign trail by the people he has met who tell him that they are praying for him. ”I can’t tell you how important it is to have the prayers of the tens of thousands of people we meet across the country,” Ryan said. Source:  Buzzfeed

The candidates shouldn’t be spouting religion in an election. Lost on Paul Ryan is that he has violated one of the basic charges of the Roman Catholic faith — to take care of the poor. His view is that 30 percent are takers, in keeping with Mitt Romney’s 47 percent of Americans are deadbeats. Never mind the fact that these right wing evangelicals treat women with little regard and spit on our rights. The government has no place in anyone’s personal life and shouldn’t be telling a woman she can’t have an abortion or get contraceptive through her insurance.’ By the way, I am pretty sure people are also praying for President Obama and Joe Biden to win the election.

Electoral Projections from Final Polls Ahead of Presidential Election Predict President Obama Wins

The Electoral projections from the final polls ahead of the presidential election mirrors our own that President Obama will win 303 Electoral College votes to Mitt Romney’s 235. The final Public Policy Polling surveys point to an Obama landslide of 332 electoral votes, while Dave Wissing said that if final polls from The Economist/YouGov are right, President Obama will win 303 electoral votes. The final Reuters/Ipsos polls suggest President Obama will win 294 electoral votes. The Obama campaign must be happy with the way things are going, but the race isn’t finished yet and everyone who hasn’t yet voted, must get out to vote on Tuesday.

Here is our projection:
