Lincoln said:  ”Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.”

“Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation, so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battle-field of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.”

“But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate, we can not consecrate, we can not hallow this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us—that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion—that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain—that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom—and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”

Manchester NH Lawyer Lisa Biron Arrested by FBI at Courthouse on Child Pornography Charges

DESPICABLE:  Lisa Biron, a New Hampshire-based lawyer, was arrested on federal child pornography charges. Lisa Biron, who is associated with a national coalition of Christian lawyers, was arrested by FBI agents at a Manchester district courthouse Sunday.

Concord Monitor:  FBI agents swiftly arrested Lisa Biron yesterday morning as she awaited a hearing on child pornography charges at Manchester’s district court. About 9 a.m. FBI agents entered the courtroom, told Biron to leave her belongings and took her into an adjoining conference room where she remained for several minutes before coming out in handcuffs.

A few hours later in U.S. District Court in Concord, Biron, was formally told of the federal charges against her: transportation with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, possession of child pornography and five counts of sexual exploitation of children.

President Obama Looks Awesome in Batik Shirt During Visit to Cambodia

President Obama became the first U.S. president to visit Cambodia, down to wearing the traditional batik shirt. We are so accustomed to seeing him in dark suits, so I must admit it looks a little weird to see him dressed in a batik shirt, when he hung out with  Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen. Um, I guess that makes him the first sitting president to wear a batik in Cambodia….

Twinkie Maker Hostess Brands Seeks Court Permission to Pay Manager Bonuses

SHAMEFUL:  As more than 18,000 employees with Hostess Brands Inc. set to lose their jobs because the company ceased operations, the bankrupt company is seeking permission to pay bonuses to key managers  as it begins a liquidation that may attract bids from private-equity firms and rivals.

Washington Post:  U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Robert Drain is to consider Hostess’s request to close its distribution centers and 36 bakeries at a hearing today in White Plains, New York. Hostess said Nov. 16 that it would shut down, claiming that a weeklong strike by its bakers’ union forced liquidation. The union blamed management’s concession demands, while some employees blamed both sides.

The U.S. trustee, a Justice Department official responsible for protecting creditors, today asked Drain to take control of the liquidation away from the company. U.S. Trustee Tracy Hope Davis asked the judge to convert the case to a Chapter 7 from Chapter 11 bankruptcy, based partly on the company’s intent to pay bonuses, and appoint a trustee to supervise the wind-down.

Hostess officials “have not demonstrated that the insider bonuses are permissible,” Davis wrote in a court filing.

Once again, management screws the little guys royally just to line their pockets. Unbelievable and shameful at the same time.

Oops: Oprah Winfrey Tweets Her Love for Microsoft Surface Using iPad

Ooops, did I do that? Oprah Winfrey  tweets her love for the Microsoft Surface… using an iPad.  Hehehe! According to TechCrunch, in early November, Winfrey claimed that it was one of her favorite things. Monday morning, she tweeted that she has bought 12 for Christmas gifts, but sent the tweet using Twitter for iPad.

This begs the question, was Oprah Winfrey’s tweet-out a sponsored tweet? This makes her seem like a sell-out. Where’s her tech person? He or she could have set it up where she wouldn’t have to tweet from her iPad about Microsoft Surface.

SMH:  The drama between Kevin Clash, the voice of Sesame Street’s Elmo, and his one-time lover, Sheldon Stephens continues.  Now Stephens is now seeking legal advice on the $125,000 settlement he received after claiming he was forced to recant his accusation that their relationship started when he was under-age. What a hot mess.

Under terms of the agreement he allegedly struck with Kevin Clash, if he was asked by anyone about their relationship, he must repeat only the following statement: ‘He [Stephens] wants it to be known that his sexual relationship with Mr. Clash was an adult consensual relationship.’

TMZ reports Sheldon Stephens cried during the final negotiations with Clash’s lawyer and repeated insisted that he didn’t want to sign the document. He has since met with lawyers in Los Angeles and told them he was pressured in to recanting his accusation. He reportedly said he would gladly give up the settlement to restore his name.

Um, I can never look at Elmo the same way again and I feel for Kevin Clash’s teenage daughter…..

Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu was really hoping his “homeboy” Mitt Romney would have won the presidential election.  Benjamin Netanyahu’s comments were recorded in September and he was talking about Iran.  This comes as the Palestinian death toll rises as Israel intensifies onslaught.

Obamacare and the  states:  The Obama administration is  extending the deadline for states to decide whether and how to create a health insurance exchange under the Affordable Health Care Act and the Wall Street Journal has a great map on each state’s decision so far.

Wall Street Journal:  “The options are forcing GOP officials across the country to decide whether to go against the party’s traditional belief in states’ rights, and let the federal government step in—or to run their own exchange and risk signaling that they’re enabling a law they don’t support.”

“The issue was at the forefront of discussions among leaders at the Republican Governors Association meeting in Las Vegas this week, where even some leading critics of the law suggested they might be open to cooperation with the federal government.”

Dictionary.com’s word of the year 2012 is BLUSTER. We heard a lot of that on the campaign trail during the presidential election season.

Dictionary.com defines bluster as:

1. to roar and be tumultuous, as wind.
2. to be loud, noisy, or swaggering; utter loud, empty menaces or protests:  He blusters about revenge but does nothing.

“Obviously the most historical events [this year] were the election, and weather events… [There has been] a remarkable volume of different kinds of bluster across the political and cultural spectrum,” said Schwartz.

He said that the word was chosen partly in consultation with lexicographers, and partly based on the data gathered from users’ searches on the site throughout the year.
