Chris Brown cancels a stadium concert in Georgetown, Guyana, after local protests over his 2009 beating of then-girlfriend Rihanna. He was set to headline the December 26th concert, but drew the ire of women’s rights groups and opposition politicians who said he would not be welcome in Guyana. Concert promoter Hits & Jams Entertainment said he backed out because he was uncomfortable with the protests.
You will recall Chris Brown choked, bit and hit Rihanna during a heated argument in Los Angeles. He later pleaded guilty to assault and was sentenced to probation and community service. Chris Brown has sought to repair his image since then, even recording a duet with Rihanna on her recently released album. Um, all that comes to mind is Ike and Tina Turner. We saw how that turned out.
