Wow, nothing like cashing in on a tragedy, right?  That’s exactly what Texas gun shop owner Crocket Keller is doing. Keller, who owns Kellers Riverside Gun Store near Austin, TX, announced during a KRLD radio show that he would start offering a discount for teachers who want to carry a concealed weapon after the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. last Friday.

HOST: In light of this tragic, tragic shooting, teachers, educators may be wanting to get themselves certified to carry a concealed handgun. If they came to your store, what would you do for them and what kind of guidance would you give?

KELLER: Well, as we do with veterans, I would offer them a discount. Our normal rate is $110, so I would give them a rate of $90. If they are teachers, we would be more than happy to do that. We need to lobby our various state governments to allow teachers to be armed. We have airline pilots that now carry pistols or weapons of some sort. I think the same thing needs to happen in these gun-free zones that are so dangerous.

Keller went on to argue, “Any place where the citizenry is not allowed to defend itself is at risk.”

Right wing evangelical James Dobson, founder of social conservative group Focus on the Family, joined Mike Huckabee and Bryan Fischer in giving their two cents on the Newtown school shooting. According to  Right Wing Watch, James Dobson said:

I mean millions of people have decided that God doesn’t exist, or he’s irrelevant to me, and we have killed fifty-four million babies and the institution of marriage is right on the verge of a complete redefinition.  Believe me, that is going to have consequences too.

And a lot of these things are happening around us, and somebody is going to get mad at me for saying what I am about to say right now, but I am going to give you my honest opinion: I think we have turned our back on the Scripture and on God Almighty and I think he has allowed judgment to fall upon us.  I think that’s what’s going on.

More Gun Violence: Three Dead in Double Murder-Suicide in Grand Rapids MI

GRAND RAPIDS MURDER-SUICIDE:  More gun violence — three people were killed Monday in a double murder-suicide in a minivan parked on the northeast side of Grand Rapids, Mich. According to media reports, it appears that a 27 year old man, Three people were killed Monday, Dec. 17, in a murder-suicide on the city’s Northeast Side.

According to media reports, police said it appears that a 27-year-old man, seated behind the women, shot them before he turned the gun on himself. MLive also reports that the man and one of the women had a relationship and also had a small child. The shooting occurred in a parking lot on Ball Avenue NE.

Tweets About Obama at Newtown School Shooting Vigil: “Take That N**ger Off the TV, We Wanna Watch Football”

DISGRACE:  It is a disgrace that in the aftermath of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting that left 26 dead, including 20 children, people would resort to racist denigration of President Obama by some television viewers over NBC preempting the first quarter Sunday night’s football game between the San Francisco 49ers vs. the New England Patriots to show his speech at the vigil. Deadspin editor Timothy Burke collected a lot of the racist tweets dissing President Obama’s speech.  The tweets also included one from North Alabama player Bradley Patterson. A later tweet by UNA Athletic Director Mark Linder states that Bradley Patterson is no longer a member of the team. Patterson’s Twitter account has since been closed. Here are some of those tweets:

NEWTOWN SCHOOL SHOOTING: The first funerals are being held for Jack Pinto and Noah Pozner, two of the 20 children murdered by Adam Lanza during a shooting rampage at Sandy Hook Elementary School on Friday. Jack Pinto was as a big fan of the New York Giants and wide receiver Victor Cruz. He is expected to be laid to rest in a cemetery in Newtown. Noah Pozner, whose twin sister Arielle survived the shooting, was described as someone who loved to read and figure out how things worked mechanically. He will be laid to rest in Fairfield, Conn.

Kyle Bangayan Being Held on $500K Bail After Facebook Post Threatening Multiple Shootings at CA Elementary Schools

Kyle Bangayan, 24, of Pomona, was arrested in connection with a Facebook post in which he allegedly threatened shootings at multiple elementary schools in his area. Kyle Bangayan was arrested on suspicion of making criminal threats and is being held on $500,000 bail. This comes on the heels of Adam Lanza’s shooting massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, that claimed 26 lives, including 20 kids.

Los Angeles police officers and FBI agents seized ammunition and nine guns from the parents’  home, including rifles, a shotgun and multiple handguns, the LAPD said. Bangayan’s Pomona home was searched, but “no related evidence” or weapons were found, authorities said.

The LAPD said the threats were not specific to a school but did reference a deadly shooting in Newtown, Conn., Friday in which a gunman killed 20 children and six adults. Bangayan’s alleged threat referenced “kindergarten and elementary school kids,” sources said. Source

There will be zero tolerance for threats of this nature and anyone who makes a threat is quite capable of carrying out that threat. Kyle Bangayan and Von I. Meyer, who threatened to go on a shooting rampage at Jane Ball Elementary School in Cedar Lake, Ind., deserve to be locked away for a long time.

Topeka KS Police Officer Jeff Atherly, Corporal David Gogian Killed Responding to Suspicious Vehicle Call

FALLEN LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS:  Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of Topeka Police Officer Jeff Atherly and Corporal David Gogian were shot and killed while checking on a suspicious vehicle in a grocery store parking lot in Topeka, Kansas.

Several minutes after making contact with the multiple subjects in the vehicle one them opened fire, fatally wounding Officer Atherly and Corporal Gogian. A third officer on the scene was not wounded. The subject who opened fire fled in the vehicle. He was located in a home on Third Street, and shot and wounded after a short standoff.

Officer Atherly had served with the Topeka Police Department for just under two years. Corproal Gogian was a U.S. military veteran and had served with the Topeka Police Department for eight years. Source

The suspect, David Edward Tiscareno , who was reportedly in police custody, is now being reported as deceased.

NRA Goes Silent In Aftermath of Newtown School Shooting, Takes Down Facebook Page, Sends No Tweets

NEWTOWN SCHOOL SHOOTING:  The National Rifle Association hasn’t issued a statement in aftermath of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting massacre by Adam Lanza that left 26 dead, including 20 children and six teachers. The NRA hasn’t sent a tweet and has taken down their Facebook page. This is nothing new. They went silent after the Aurora movie theater shooting, the Sikh temple shooting, the Clackamas mall shooting and now the Newtown shooting massacre.
