Another megachurch pastor bites the dust.  Pastor Wiley Jackson, who leads Gospel Tabernacle Church in Atlanta, and his brother, Rodney Jackson, are facing eight felony counts for allegedly violating the Georgia Securities Act. DeKalb District Attorney Robert James said Wiley Jackson and his brother misled their church members into investing into Genesis LLC, a securities entity that was not registered by the state, WSB-TV reports.

James told Channel 2′s Tom Regan the men recruited members to pitch in thousands of dollars that would be used for ministry-related investments, like inspirational books, tapes and other items. But the investors didn’t get a promise on their return and lost their money.

“They met with them, and one of these individuals (who invested in the business) gave as much as $10,000; the other $2,000, they invested with them and they lost their money,” James explained.

James said the investment issue dates back several years, but in 2009, the accusers went to the Secretary of State’s Office and learned Genesis LLC wasn’t registered by the state and then reported the case to the district attorney. Source

Bishop Wiley Jackson and Rodney Jackson will be arrested shortly, as arrest warrants have been issued for them. You will recall New Birth Missionary Baptist Church was caught up on a Ponzi-scheme type hot mess.

Pastor Wiley Jackson issued the following statement:  ”I am surprised to learn of this indictment. I am out of town and cannot respond until I have read the indictment. There has been no wrongdoing.”

Obnoxious TV has more information on the Wiley Jackson drama, including that he allegedly called a meeting at the church asking for a large sum of money.  Developing story. Stay tuned for more details.

Ann Coulter on How to Stop School Shootings: Enforce Concealed Carry Laws

First Ann Coulter sought to legitimize the National Rifle Association’s existence by saying it fought against the Ku Klux Klan, and now she’s saying that had someone at Sandy Hook Elementary School had a concealed weapon Adam Lanza would not have been able to murder 20 children and six adults.

Luckily, some years ago, two famed economists, William Landes at the University of Chicago and John Lott at Yale, conducted a massive study of multiple victim public shootings in the United States between 1977 and 1995 to see how various legal changes affected their frequency and death toll.

Landes and Lott examined many of the very policies being proposed right now in response to the Connecticut massacre: waiting periods and background checks for guns, the death penalty and increased penalties for committing a crime with a gun.

None of these policies had any effect on the frequency of, or carnage from, multiple-victim shootings. (I note that they did not look at reforming our lax mental health laws, presumably because the ACLU is working to keep dangerous nuts on the street in all 50 states.)

Only one public policy has ever been shown to reduce the death rate from such crimes: concealed-carry laws. Source

Newark NJ Mayor Cory Booker won’t challenge Gov. Chris Christie, but will instead run for the U.S. Senate, ending months of speculation on what his move would be. Either way, he was good to the city of Newark.

Booker, long considered the Democrats’ best hope to beat Christie in 2013, could now face U.S. Senator Frank Lautenberg in a 2014 Democratic primary, although it is unclear what Lautenberg plans to do.

The decision by Booker essentially reshapes the field of Democrats who will now take a shot at the popular Republican governor. Christie’s post-Sandy polling numbers are virtually unmatched in a state with roughly 700,000 more registered Democrats than Republicans.

A discussion about the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting massacre leads to Lester Davis allegedly firing his gun in the direction of another man at the All Cuts Barber Shop in Wentzville,  MO.

St. Louis Post-Dispatch: One of the patrons was discussing last week’s shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown and commented that the incident “makes me want to murder the suspect,” police said.

For unknown reasons, (Lester) Davis took the comment as a threat and asked, “You want to murder me?” Davis then walked out to his Volkswagen sedan, retrieved a loaded Smith & Wesson 9 mm pistol and fired three times in the customer’s direction, police said.

Lester Davis has been charged with first-degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a weapon. He is in jail and his bail set at $400,000, the newspaper reports. This is proof some people shouldn’t be allowed to own a gun, period.
