New York Newspapers, Including the Conservative NY Post, Slam NRA’s Wayne LaPierre with Brutal Covers

New York newspapers slammed the National Rifle Association after Wayne LaPierre’s vile comments just 90 minutes after the country observed a moment of silence in commemoration of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting massacre that occurred Dec. 14.The New York Times was also brutal in its assessment of the hot mess that unfolded before our eyes on Friday when Wayne LaPierre blamed everyone else for the Newtown shooting massacre — Hollywood, the media, music videos, movies, President Obama, politicians — but not the NRA or the fact that there are far too many assault weapons in our country.

The New York Times:  ”Mr. LaPierre looked wild-eyed at times as he said the killing was the fault of the media, songwriters and singers and the people who listen to them, movie and TV scriptwriters and the people who watch their work, advocates of gun control, video game makers and video game players.”

….He wants volunteer and professional firefighters, who already risk their lives every day, to be charged with thwarting an assault by a deranged murderer. The same applies to paramedics, security guards, veterans, retired police officers. “The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun,” Mr. LaPierre said.

It’s pretty telling when even Rupert Murdoch’s conservative rag the New York Post slammed Wayne LaPierre as a “loon” and a “gun nut:”

Louis Kuilan-Maysonet Fatally Shot by Security Guard at Boomerang Martini Bar in Brandon FL During Altercation

Andrew Jennings, a security guard at Boomerang Martini Bar in Brandon, Fla., shot and killed Louis Kuilan-Maysonet, after he started arguing with Christopher Gonzalez-Cartagena over his girlfriend’s lost purse. Reggaeton star Farruko had been slated to perform at a Christmas party at the club, but the event turned into chaos, ending up in the parking lot.

The fight started inside the club as it was closing, around 3 a.m., Samara Sodos said. Kuilan-Maysonet started arguing with Christopher Gonzalez-Cartagena, 27. The argument began over a purse lost by Kuilan-Maysonet’s girlfriend, Sodos said. The argument continued into the parking lot.

According to a release from the sheriff’s office: Kuilan-Maysonet lifted his shirt and flashed a handgun in his waistband while Gonzalez-Cartagena tried to walk to his car. Kuilan-Maysonet began shooting at Gonzalez-Cartagena, who suffered several gunshot wounds, including a graze to the head.

As Kuilan-Maysonet began shooting, Andrew Jennings, 25, a club security guard, was directing traffic. When Jennings heard gunshots, he turned and saw Kuilan-Maysonet shooting. Jennings ordered him to stop, but Kuilan-Maysonet spun around toward Jennings with a gun in his hand. Jennings fired several shots at Kuilan-Maysonet, hitting him. During the gun battle, a bar patron named Alejandro Salavarrieta, 22, was shot in the leg. Investigators at this point do not yet know who shot him. Source

Guns in the wrong hands can have deadly consequences. This is the drawback to having people carry concealed weapons in clubs, churches and other high traffic areas.

Trouble in paradise over at Breitbart.com:  One time mouthpiece Dana Loesch has sued right wing website Breitbart.com, claiming although her relationship with the news and opinion aggregating site had gone “tragically awry,” the company refused to let her out of her contract, claiming they have forcing her into “indentured servitude in limbo.” Um, Dana Loesch has said some pretty meanspirited things in the past and boy, karma will get you every time.

St. Louis Post-Dispatch:  The lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court in St. Louis and seeks at least $75,000 in damages, as well as a judge’s declaration that her contract had expired.

The suit says that difficulties managing the Breitbart “media ‘empire’” or ideological conflicts or both had spiked the working relationship, creating a “increasingly hostile” work environment. When Loesch tried to terminate her work agreement in September, Breitbart refused and extended the agreement by a year, the suit says.

Breitbart.cοm LLC refuses to allow her work to be published and “sabotages” her attempts to find work elsewhere, the suit says.

We sort of wondered why her posts weren’t appearing on the site, now we know why. Food fight…..

Here’s a copy of Dana Loesch’s lawsuit:

President Jacob Zuma this morning, 22 December 2012, visited former President Nelson Mandela in hospital in Pretoria. Madiba has been in hospital since the 8th of December and continues to respond to treatment. President Zuma assured him of the love and support of all South Africans, young and old, and the whole world.
“We urge South Africans to continue praying for our beloved Madiba during this period. Our hearts are with the whole family and relatives,” said President Zuma. Source

I’m not a doctor but this doesn’t sound very good at all. We continue to pray for Nelson Mandela and his family. This can’t be an easy time for them.
