BIDDEFORD SHOOTING: Derrick Thompson and his girlfriend Alivia Welch were reportedly killed in a shooting at 17 Sokokis Road in Biddeford, ME, Saturday evening. The home is owned by James Earl Pak and Armit C. Pak. One woman who was shot was transported to a local hospital and a child was safely removed from the home.
The suspected shooter has been identified as 74 year old James Pak and he is currently being held in the York County Jail. He surrendered around 10 p.m. Saturday night after several hours of negotiating.
Derrick Thompson was born February 12 1993 and was an auto detailer at Patriot Subaru, according to his Facebook profile. He went to Biddeford High School. Alivia Welch worked at Aroma Joes Coffee and was a nursing student at SMCC. Alivia Welch’s Facebook profile stated that she was married to Derrick Thompson. The police have reported that she was his girlfriend.
UPDATE# 2:43 EST 12/30/12: WGME is reporting that a parking dispute may have led the shooting, police said Sunday. Derrick Thompson’s mother, Susan Thompson, 44, was also shot and is being treated at Maine Medical Center. Her six year old son, Brayden, was unharmed and safely removed from the home. James Pak has been charged with two counts of murder in the deaths of Derrick Thompson and Alivia Welch. He is being held without bail. Autopsies may be conducted on the two deceased teenagers.
