Man Fatally Shot Near Columbus Circle in Midtown Manhattan, Suspect Fled Scene

URGENT:  Police said a man was fatally shot in midtown Manhattan, near Columbus Circle just before 2 p.m. Monday, the FDNY reports. The suspect fled the scene.

ABC News reports, police are on the scene of a shooting at 58th Street and Broadway in Midtown in which a man was critically wounded. Sources said a suspect drove up in a car, shot the victim in the face and then sped away. The shooting happened right across from the Engine 23 firehouse just before 2:00 p.m.

This sounds like a hit, plain and simple. The reports are that the shooter walked up behind the victim and fired at point blank range.
