From Rolling Stone Magazine:  ”Funk singer Marva Whitney, nicknamed by collaborator James Brown ”Soul Sister Number 1″, has died from complications from pneumonia. According to an announcement on her Facebook page, Whitney, born Marva Ann Manning, passed away on Saturday.”
