BREAKING: Someone Stabbed or Cut Outside Georgia Dome As Scuffle Breaks Out After Falcons Loss

BREAKING: Ross @Cavitt reported someone was either cut or stabbed outside the Georgia Dome after a scuffle as the crowd was leaving stadium, the tweet said. Fox 5 Atlanta is reporting a man’s throat was slit outside the Georgia Dome by a 49ers fan:

ALBUQUERQUE QUINTUPLE MURDERS:  According to KOB, friends identified Greg Griego, a former pastor of Calvary Albuquerque Church, as the adult male who was killed at 2806 Long Lane in southwest Albuquerque, along with an adult female, a juvenile boy and two juvenile girls. Nehemiah Griego, 15, has been charged with two counts of murder, three counts of child abuse leading to murder. Pastor Greg Griego also works as a chaplain at the Metropolitan Detention Center. The home is owned by Gregory Griego and Sarah Griego, who was also killed, along with their three youngest children.  Sarah Griego was a stay-at-home mom who homeschooled her kids.

KOB 4 reports Nehemiah Griego called someone after the shootings and that person called 911. It is also being reported that Greg Griego was a spiritual counselor to the Albuquerque Fire Department. Greg Griego is the brother of former state Sen. Eric Griego. The family issued a statement saying, “Our family is grieving this terrible tragedy. We appreciate the prayers and support we have received and request that the media honor our family’s privacy during this difficult time.”

This latest mass shooting comes a little over a month after Adam Lanza killed 20 children, ages six and seven, as well as six educators during a shooting rampage at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT. This also comes as gun rights supporters staged “Gun Appreciation Day” Saturday all over the country. It will be interesting to hear the debate that will ensue from this tragedy tomorrow. Once again, more senseless murders.

The Albuquerque Journal reports that neighbor Peter Gomez said he saw the boy walk with siblings and his parents through the neighborhood regularly, and he “wore nothing but camouflage stuff”. Greg Griego turned his life around after being in a gang.

Griego reportedly served in Desert Storm, and Nehemiah told neighbors he wanted to be a soldier. He always wore army clothing and camouflage, but he wasn’t allowed to play violent video games, according to one neighbor, since the boy’s parents didn’t allow anything “dirty or violent” and limited TV watching.

UPDATE#1 (01/21/2013): The four remaining victims killed during Nehemiah Griego’s shooting rampage identified as mother Sarah Greigo, 40, and his three youngest siblings Zephania Griego, 9; Jael Griego, 5; and Angelina Griego, 2.

Nehemiah Griego Identified as Teen Gunman Who Killed Five at Albuquerque Home Located on Long Lane

NEW MEXICO QUINTUPLE HOMICIDE:  Bernalillo County police say Nehemiah Griego is in custody and is being charged with two counts of murder and three counts of child abuse leading to murder in the deaths of occupants of a home located at 2806 Long Lane SW in Albuquerque NM. Police believe the teen used an AR-15 assault rifle in the shooting. Nehemiah Griego lives at the home where the bodies were found, KRQE reports.

“There’s no other way to say it but we have a horrific crime scene we’re working and it’ll be intensive and we’ll work hard to do everything that needs to be done,” Sheriff Dan Houston said.

Officials say they found multiple weapons that appeared to be used, including an assault type rifle.

UPDATE#1 (01/20/2013): Nehemiah Griego reportedly killed his father, pastor Greg Griego, and four others. It is not clear if Sarah Griego, whose name is listed as a co-owner of the home, is among the dead.  http://hinterlandgazette.com/2013/01/pastor-greg-griego-identified-victims-killed-nehemiah-griego-albuquerque-nm-shooting.html

Rush Limbaugh: If Rep. John Lewis Had Gun, Wouldn’t Have Been Beaten During Selma Civil Rights March

Rush Limbaugh is trying to sully the legacy of the civil rights movement by saying if the leaders were armed then the segregationists would not have had so much power.  He tried to equate the fight for black civil rights with the opposition to curbing gun violence on Friday, even singling out Rep. John Lewis (D-GA), who was beaten during the 1965 voting rights march from Selma to Montgomery. He said:

“Try this,” Limbaugh said. “If a lot of African-Americans back in the ’60s had guns and the legal right to use them for self-defense, you think they would have needed Selma? I don’t know. I’m just asking. If (Rep) John Lewis, who says he was beat upside the head, if John Lewis had had a gun, would he have been beat upside the head on the bridge?”

[...]

Lewis has issued a response to Limbaugh, noting that “Our goal in the Civil Rights Movement was not to injure or destroy but to build a sense of community, to reconcile people to the true oneness of all humanity.” “African Americans in the 60s could have chosen to arm themselves, but we made a conscious decision not to. We were convinced that peace could not be achieved through violence. Violence begets violence, and we believed the only way to achieve peaceful ends was through peaceful means.” Source:  Think Progress

Um, I think he forgot the part where Medgar Evers and Martin Luther King Jr., were shot to death. Evers was killed in the driveway of his Mississippi home by white supremacist Byron De La Beckwith. Dr. King was assassinated at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee on April 4, 1968. James Earl Ray was arrested for his murder.

#inaug2013:  President Obama’s second term quietly starts today, January 20, 2013. He will be sworn in privately about 11:55 a.m. Sunday and will have a public swearing-in Monday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

New York Times:  ”President Obama will be quietly sworn into office for a second term just before noon on Sunday in a brief White House ceremony, a day before Monday’s far showier public inaugural events, adhering to a long tradition of doing so out of the public eye when Jan. 20 falls on a Sunday.”

“The oath is to be administered by Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. in the Blue Room, an elegant, gilded space with a sweeping view of the South Lawn. The bare-bones ceremony, typically lasting no more than three minutes, will satisfy the constitutional requirement that the president’s swearing-in take place by noon on the Jan. 20 after an election.”

Washington Post: “The day began with a morning swearing-in ceremony for Vice President Joe Biden, committing him to four more years as the nation’s second in command. Biden then joined the president at Arlington National Cemetery for a wreath-laying ceremony on a crisp, sun-splashed January day.”

VP Joe Biden’s swearing-in occurred at 8:21 a.m. at his residence at the Naval Observatory with his family. He was sworn in by Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor. According to the pool report, after taking the oath, he kissed Justice Sotomayor and told her it was a honor. Here’s a photograph that will rile neo-cons:
