Franciscan Friar Stephen Baker, Accused of Abuse in Two States, Commits Suicide

Friar Stephen Baker, 62, a Franciscan friar accused of sexually abusing students at a Catholic high school in Ohio and Pennsylvania, committed suicide Saturday morning at St. Bernadine Monastery in Hollidaysburg, Pa.

The police declined to say what type of self-inflicted wounds were found on Stephen Baker or whether a suicide note was found.

Friar Stephen Baker was named in a legal settlement last week involving 11 men who accused him of sexually abusing them at a northeast John F. Kennedy High School in Warren, Oh., from 1986-90.

Sarah Palin just can’t go off quietly. She seems to think she still has a platform now that she and Fox News have parted company. She told Breitbart News that she’s been able to “free up opportunities” to “share more broadly” her message. Um, what message? How to be a quitter?

Sarah Palin: “I was raised to never retreat and to pick battles wisely, and all in due season. When it comes to defending our republic, we haven’t begun to fight! But we delight in those who underestimate us.”

If the best she can do is Breitbart News then her star is fading fast. Sarah Palin, Alaska’s Quitter-in-Chief, is the last person anyone should take serious about defending the republic. She couldn’t even finish her term as governor. The reality is that Sarah Palin hasn’t brought Fox News the big crowds.

Sarah Palin hasn’t offered anything substantive. Just a whole lot of fluff. Sarah Palin is all about entertainment. Well, that’s questionable on some levels since her reality show was a dud. Sarah Palin has offered nothing but diminishing returns for Fox News, much as she had for John McCain during the 2008 campaign.

President Obama on ’60 Minutes’ Interview with Hillary Clinton: I Wanted to “Publicly Say Thank You”

“Well, the main thing is I just wanted to have a chance to publicly say thank you, because I think Hillary will go down as one of the finest secretaries of state we’ve had. It has been a great collaboration over the last four years.”

– President Obama’s reason for joint 60 Minutes interview with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Sounds like he’s passing the torch to Hillary Clinton in 2016. He will be in a tough spot as to who to back should Hillary Clinton really throw her hat in the ring for the presidency, considering Vice President Joe Biden has expressed some interest in running in 2016.

A Chitimacha Tribal Officer Killed, Two Deputies Wounded in Southern Louisiana Shooting

CHITIMACHA TRIBAL OFFICER KILLED:  A suspect is in custody after killing an officer from the Chitimacha Reservation in southern Louisiana, and wounding two deputies from the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Officer, who are listed in critical condition. All three were responding to a house fire on Flattown Road in Charenton Saturday morning when the suspect started shooting.

Family members tell us their loved one, Matthew Strickland with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office, was shot in the incident. He was said to have been shot several times in the face/neck area. He is at a trauma center in New Orleans. His family says he just started last week at the Sheriff’s Office. He previously worked at the jail and served a year with the National Guard in Iraq. The identities of the other two officers have not been released at this time. Source

Wilbert Thibodeaux was arrested in connection with the shooting. A civilian, 78-year-old Eddie Lyons, was found deceased after the fire was extinguished. He was shot, but it is not clear if he died from the gun shot wound or from the fire. Wilbert Thibodeaux was also injured from a gunshot wound to his upper torso, but he has since been released to police custody from the hospital. Developing story. Stay tuned for updates.
