14-Year-Old Telvis Douglas Shot by Fellow Student at Price Middle School in Atlanta

PRICE MIDDLE SCHOOL SHOOTING:  Telvis Douglas has been identified as the shooting victim at Price Middle School in Atlanta. He was allegedly shot by another student over a disagreement, WSB-TV reports. Telvis Douglas, 14, was shot in the back of the neck and is expected to make a full recovery. He is hospitalized at Grady Memorial Hospital. The shooter has not been charged yet.

Douglas’ mother said he told her he was in between classes when another student he recognized approached him, started “talking smack” and pulled out a gun. She said he turned to run when he was shot from behind.

Sources within Atlanta Public Schools told Jones that after the shooting, the gunman emptied his clip, and began shooting randomly at students running away. Neither school officials nor police have addressed the claim on-camera. Source

BREAKING NEWS: Student Shot at Price Middle School in Atlanta

#PRICESHOOTING: PRICE MIDDLE SCHOOL SHOOTING:  A student was shot at Price Middle School in Atlanta. The suspect is in police custody. A teacher injured, 11 Alive reports. The Atlanta fire department tells@11AliveNews that 14-year-old was shot in the head. The student is hospitalized at this time. The shooter is also a student.

11 Alive News:  According to the Atlanta Fire Department, there was a 14-year-old shot in the head. Grady Memorial Hospital says they have received one under-aged gunshot victim.

Atlanta Public Schools public information officer Steve Alford said the gunshot wound was more toward the back of the neck, and indicated that the child was awake when taken to Grady Hospital.

Price Middle School is located at 1670 Benjamin Weldon Bickers Drive SE in Atlanta. Stay tuned. Developing story.

Mark Hasse, Kaufman County TX Chief Prosecutor, Killed in DMV Parking Lot

TEXAS COURTHOUSE SHOOTING:  Kaufman County’s chief prosecutor Mark Hasse was fatally shot in the parking lot of the department of motor vehicles by two men wearing tactical vests, CBS News reports. Mark Hasse died after being transported to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Kaufman. The suspects are still at large.

WTF:  RuPaul beats Piers Morgan hands-down for the 9 p.m. slot Monday nights. Of course, Piers Morgan has made a lot of enemies since he took over the 9 p.m. slot when Larry King retired. If these figures are true, then it’s hilarious that RuPaul is doing better than Piers Morgan. I take this with a grain of salt since it’s coming from Matt Drudge.

Phillip Walker Sailors, Suspect in Lilburn Driveway Shooting, Released on $11000 Bond

OUTRAGE:  Phillip Walker Sailors, the suspect in the Lilburn driveway murder released after posting $11,200 bond. So, I guess Rodrigo Abad Diaz’s life wasn’t worth much in the eyes of Gwinnett County.

Phillip Walker Sailors, 69,  was arrested Sunday afternoon and charged with murder in the death of Rodrigo Diaz of Duluth, who had recently moved from Cuba three months ago.

According to media reports, friends of Rodrigo Abad Diaz said he pulled into the driveway of a Hillcrest Drive home Saturday night, led to the wrong home by his GPS system. Phillip Sailors allegedly came out of the home with a gun and fired a shot that struck Diaz in the head. He later died in a local hospital.

People have done far less and have had to post far bigger bonds. Yes, right here in metro Atlanta. Take the two guys who stole $65,000 worth of chicken wings. Their bail was nearly $3,000. Someone is murdered and the shooter’s bond is $11,200. Where’s the logic?

Texas Courthouse Shooting: Kaufman County Employee Killed Outside Courthouse

TEXAS COURTHOUSE SHOOTING:  A Kaufman County employee was shot several times outside the county courthouse annex Thursday morning. The unidentified employee was shot by two unknown suspects. Reports are that the employee could be a county prosecutor with the district attorney’s office.

UPDATE#1:  The Kaufman County employee shot multiple times has died. He was an assistant district attorney.

CBS Local: ” State troopers have confirmed that an all points bulletin has been put out for two males, wearing all black clothing and tactical vests. The men are believed to be driving a silver-colored, late-model Ford Taurus with no license plates on the vehicle.”

UPDATE#2:  Chief Prosecutor Mark Hasse has been identified as the Kaufman County court employee gunned down Thursday morning.

Arab-American Groups Call Coca Cola’s Superbowl Ad Racist Over Arab in Desert with Camel

Another group is crying racism over another Superbowl advertisement. This time Arab-American groups are criticizing Coca Cola over its ad depicting an Arab walking through the desert with a camel.

“Why is it that Arabs are always shown as either oil-rich sheiks, terrorists, or belly dancers?” said Warren David, president of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, or ADC.

Coca-Cola released an online teaser of the commercial last week, showing the Arab walking through a desert. He soon sees cowboys, Las Vegas showgirls and a motley crew fashioned after the marauders of the apocalyptic “Mad Max” film race by him to reach a gigantic bottle of Coke.

“The Coke commercial for the Super Ball is racist, portraying Arabs as backward and foolish Camel Jockeys, and they have no chance to win in the world,” Imam Ali Siddiqui, president of the Muslim Institute for Interfaith Studies, said in an email. Source

So, first we have Charles Blow and Barbara Lippert screaming racism over Volkswagen’s Superbowl ad featuring a white actor with a Jamaican accent, now this? The Coca Cola ad is far from racist. Why are people so overly sensitive?
