AKRON SHOOTING:  The shooting death of four year old Jamarcus Allen, of Akron, has been ruled a homicide. Jamarcus Allen died from a single gunshot wound to the head on Wednesday morning. His father has been charged in his death.

Terrance Allen, 49, had stopped his car and flagged down the deputy at South Arlington Street and Davies Avenue. Police say Jamarcus was shot while in the back seat of the family’s sedan.

The bullet pierced the child’s head and exited through the car roof, just above the rear passenger seat.

Jamarcus was pronounced dead less than an hour later at Akron Children’s Hospital. Terrance Allen is charged with involuntary manslaughter, child endangering, tampering with evidence and illegal weapon possession.

His bond was set at $500,000 during his initial appearance Thursday in Akron Municipal Court. He remains in the county jail. Source

It is not clear how the boy was shot, whether he accidentally shot himself with his father’s gun after finding it inside the gun. The Daily Mail is reporting the boy accidentally shot himself in the head. He was scolded by his mother after finding the gun last week. Terrance Allen has a prior conviction and was barred from owning a firearm.
