We’re hoping this comes to a close without more casualties. The best thing would be for him to give up.”

Rapper Lil Wayne Under Fire for Using Emmett Till’s Name in “Karate Chop” Remix in Disrespectful Manner

SMH:  Lil Wayne has ticked off many with his reference to Emmett Till, the Chicago teen who was savagely beaten and shot in the head in 1995 in Mississippi days after reportedly whistling at a white woman. Lil Wayne, who guested on Atlanta rapper Future’s “Karate Chop” single, contributed to the third verse of the remix:

Pop a lot of pain pills
‘Bout to put rims on my skateboard wheels
Beat that p—y up like Emmett Till
Yeah …

Wow, how incredibly disrespectful! Emmett Till’s body was dumped in a river. His mother made the decision to have an open casket at his funeral for the world to see his beaten and misshapen face, that helped to ignite the Civil Rights movement. Lil Wayne should have some class and decency. Some things are just off-limits.

Sen. Marco Rubio, Who Tried to Paint Himself as a Working Class American, Selling FL Home for $675K

POLITICAL HYPOCRITE:  How many working class Americans own a home valued at $675,000? Um, that would be Sen. Marco Rubio, who tried to paint himself as one of us, during the Republican Party’s response to President Obama’s State of the Union address. Marco Rubio said, “I still live in the same working-class neighborhood I grew up in.” Um, another problem — the Miami New Times reports that Rubio “has been trying to sell that house for an un-working-class-like $675,000 so he can up and move his family to godless elite D.C.” Another political hypocrite trying to pass an ordinary working class American.

Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with Marco Rubio’s accomplishments, but he’s trying to paint himself like a working-class American and he isn’t. He’s a mouthpiece for the Republican Party that now realizes it’s in deep sh*t demographically speaking. They tried to come across as embracing diversity when Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal was a hot mess when he rebutted President Obama’s SOTU a few years ago and now Sen. Marco Rubio will join that club. He said a whole lot of nothing last night and echoed the same tired GOP sentiments that didn’t resonate for Mitt Romney in the presidential election. Trotting Marco Rubio out with his tired story about being a working class American won’t resonate.

Paul Krugman slammed Sen. Marco Rubio for basically learning nothing and placing blame at the wrong doorstep:  ”This strikes me as a bigger deal than whether Rubio slurped his water; he and his party are now committed to the belief that their pre-crisis doctrine was perfect, that there are no lessons from the worst financial crisis in three generations except that we should have even less regulation. And given another shot at power, they’ll test that thesis by giving the bankers a chance to do it all over again.”

Marco Rubio was, essentially, rebutting the wrong speech. President Obama didn’t really point fingers at the Republicans. So, I guess Marco Rubio didn’t get that speech. His performance was akin to Paul Ryan’s performance during the vice presidential debate where he kept sipping water. Nerves? Um, these guys aren’t ready for prime time.

APD Officer Kelvin Allen, Nine Other Metro Atlanta Officers, Charged with Helping Drug Dealers

ATLANTA LAW ENFORCEMENT DISGRACE:  Ten police officers were charged with assisting drug dealers in metro Atlanta. The ten officers, who worked with police departments from all over metro Atlanta, including DeKalb County Police Department, Stone Mountain Police Department, the Atlanta Police Department, MARTA Police Department, Forest Park Police Department and the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office. The officers were arrested after a year-long undercover investigation of gang-related activities.

The 10 officers have been identified as:

Atlanta Police Department (APD) Officer Kelvin Allen, 42, of Atlanta; DeKalb County Police Department (DCPD) Officers Dennis Duren, 32, of Atlanta and Dorian Williams, 25, of Stone Mountain, Georgia; Forest Park Police Department (FPPD) Sergeant Victor Middlebrook, 44, of Jonesboro, Georgia and Andrew Monroe, 57, of Riverdale, Georgia; MARTA Police Department (MARTA) Officer Marquez Holmes, 45, of Jonesboro, Georgia; Stone Mountain Police Department (SMPD) Officer Denoris Carter, 42, of Lithonia, Georgia, and contract Federal Protective Services Officer Sharon Peters, 43, of Lithonia, Georgia. Agents also arrested two former law enforcement officers: former DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) jail officers Monyette McLaurin, 37, of Atlanta, and Chase Valentine, 44, of Covington, Georgia.

These officers, like all law enforcement officers, are charged with upholding the law and protecting the public, but the rogue officers allowed avarice to cloud their better judgement. The undercover investigation arose out of an Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms investigation of an Atlanta-area street gang in August 2011. The police officers were involved in protecting the gang’s criminal activities, 11 Alive reports. It is shameful to learn that the arrested officers wore their uniforms, drove police vehicles and even displayed their badges while providing security to gang members during drug deals.
