Isidro Zavala Kills 2 Sons Before Committing Suicide, But Spared Estranged Wife ‘So She Can Suffer Their Loss’

BOYNTON BEACH DOUBLE MURDER-SUICIDE: Isidro Zavala killed his two young sons in front of his estranged wife, Victoria Flores Zavala, in her Boynton Beach, Fla., home and then committed suicide. When she reportedly begged him to kill her instead of their sons, Eduardo Zavala, 12, and Mario Zavala, 11, he told her she was going to stay alive and suffer their loss. Victoria Flores Zavala, 36, was watching TV in her home early Saturday morning when she discovered Isidro Zavala choking one of her sons with rope.

According to media reports, police said both were strangled with rope while Mario Zavala was shot several times before the father turned the gun on himself in the kitchen. The Sun Sentinel reports police found a note dated January 31, as well as a Tec 9 automatic gun, extra ammunition, duct tape and cutting shears inside a bag that was left at the scene.

The couple has a 19 year old son, who does not live at the residence. According to court records, Victoria Zavala had filed for divorce from Isidro last October after they wed in 2003.
