Right Wing Freak-Out Over Michelle Obama Calling for Exercise, Balanced Diet for American Dogs

Fresh off a full frontal assault from the right wing, First Lady Michelle Obama is once again in the firing zone, with new criticism for reminding her Google Hangout audience that dogs need a proper diet and exercise, just like children do. Um, I’m sorry, but I guess I am missing the indoctrination part of all this. I don’t believe what she said is incorrect, so why all the fuss? Oh, wait, it came from Michelle Obama.

The First Lady admitted that President Obama liked to tease their own dog, “Bo” for being lazy, but that they encouraged her girls to take him on walks.

“Dogs are no different,” Michelle Obama explained to a woman on the chat. “You want to make sure they are eating a balanced diet, and if they are not an active dog, make sure that their food is reflective of an inactive dog and then get them out there and throw that ball and get them running.” The First Lady added that it was important to “worry about every member of our family.” Source

The Drudge Report just couldn’t resist, leading with the caption — “Michelle Goes to the Dogs.” Birther rag, World Net Daily is in the throes of convulsions.

DeKalb School Board Mess Continues as Federal Court Sends Lawsuit to GA Supreme Court

A federal court judge ruled Monday afternoon that he does not have the jurisdiction over a lawsuit brought by members of the DeKalb County School Board who were suspended by Gov. Nathan Deal.  The lawsuit was filed against the board of education and Gov. Deal over the removal of six school board members.

In a decision released Monday afternoon, US District Court Judge Richard Story said that since the claims by the DeKalb School Board members are tied to the Georgia state constitution, that the federal court does not hold jurisdiction in the case. Story directed the parties to submit their claims to the Supreme Court of Georgia.

As a result, Story said that the motion for preliminary injunction against removing six of the nine DeKalb school board members was denied and the temporary restraining order issued by the federal court is vacated. Source

You will also recall that the NAACP got involved and characterized the suspensions as racist. One problem, they are all forgetting that at the heart of this squabble is the welfare of the students in DeKalb County and the accreditation of the school district is of paramount importance. Once again, the NAACP was on the wrong side of the debate, calling the governor a ‘dictator’ for suspending six school board members, five of whom are black.  Georgia NAACP President Edward DuBose said, “We’ve fought too hard and bled too long to allow our officials to be removed by a dictator.” So, I am guessing that in the minds of the NAACP leaders they could care less about what happens to the students in the DeKalb County school system. This is yet another example of how ineffective the NAACP has become.

Bill Cosby Compares Republicans at State of the Union to Segregationists

Dr. Bill Cosby has never been shy about letting his views be known. He responded to former Florida Rep. Connie Mack (R) who expressed ‘surprise’ at the racial unrest that existed in the 1960s, saying, that attitudes from years ago are still visible today.

Referring to President Obama‘s State of the Union Address, Cosby continued, “To see people sitting down and then there are others [standing and cheering]. I think we have people sitting there who are as bad as the people who were against any kind of desegregation. And then in place of a better America, they want their own sick feelings put across, and it’s — it isn’t — it isn’t a good time, but I think, also on our part as professors and presidents of colleges all over, and in public schools, we need to get the education of the correct history that happened so people can say, ‘Yes, this really did happen.’”

I came across an article written by Dr. Patrick Johnston in the Zanesville Times Recorder that makes the case that the effects of slavery wasn’t the worse thing for black Americans — single motherhood and abortions are. He states that there are “more black men in prison today than were enslaved in 1850.” Wow, so does that excuse the scourge of slavery? Um, if I were patient of Dr. Patrick Johnston I would think twice about someone making such a reckless correlation between a woman’s reproductive rights and being enslaved. There’s more:

Our government’s remedy, however, has been to prescribe more of the poison. Our government has legalized, legitimized, and subsidized adultery and fornication, making it more profitable to be a deadbeat dad than a committed father and husband. As the stunning movie “Maafa 21: Black Genocide in 21st Century America” reveals, it was Margaret Sanger’s racism and fondness for eugenics that motivated her to set up government-funded Planned Parenthood birth control and abortion clinics in minority neighborhoods in this country. She considered immigrants and blacks to be “human weeds, reckless breeders, spawning… human beings who should never have been born.” Planned Parenthood got $487.4 million in taxpayer funds in 2012. About 80 percent of Planned Parenthood offices are in minority neighborhoods.

That brings us to the most devastating statistic in the African-American community. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, black women account for 13 percent of the total U.S. female population but undergo more than one-third of all abortions. If those black babies had been allowed to be born, the black population would be 50 percent larger. Abortion is the leading cause of death in the African-American population. Source

Dr. Patrick Johnston, who has a family medical practice, is also the founder of the Muskingum County Association of Pro-Life Physicians. I don’t expect him to say otherwise, but it is reckless to suggest that slavery wasn’t as devastating to the black community and somehow abortions are. I wonder if he would feel the same way if his ancestors were shackled and treated as three-fifths of a person? What Dr. Patrick Johnston has attempted to do is used veiled racism to say black women are too stupid to make decisions on their bodies. The dumbing-down of America continues…..

Solid Gold Bomb Founder Michael Fowler Apologizes for T-Shirts Promoting Rape, Domestic Violence

Solid Gold Bomb founder Michael Fowler posted a statement on the company’s website saying he was “extremely sorry” for the T-shirts promoting rape and domestic violence being sold on Amazon’s U.K. website:

“We simply do not produce poor humor or offensive products,” Fowler wrote. “As a father, husband, brother and son, I would never promote such product in our company and it was clear to see this when looking across the millions of T-shirts that we offer or can produce on demand. Had these items ever sold, we would have immediately pulled the series and are doing so on our own and Amazon channels worldwide.”

This comes as domestic violence continues to increase in the U.S. and around the world. This is reprehensible on so many levels. The statement from the company may have come a little too late because the outrage continues on Twitter. Solid Gold Bomb said the slogans were computer-generated and they did not deliberately create them.

Oberlin College cancels classes Monday after a person wearing a KKK-style hood and robe was seen on the campus near the school’s African Heritage House.

The college, located in Oberlin, OH,  issued a statement on the school’s website: ”We hope today will allow the entire community—students, faculty, and staff—to make a strong statement about the values that we cherish here at Oberlin: inclusion, respect for others, and a strong and abiding faith in the worth of every individual.” “Indeed, the strength of Oberlin comes from our belief that diversity and openness enriches us all, and enhances the educational mission at its core.”

This is the latest in a spate of “hate-related incidents on campus” in the last few weeks. Last week, a swastika and other graffiti appeared in Oberlin’s Conservatory of Music, while earlier February, anti-Semitic, racist and homphobic graffiti was found on the campus.

Body of Openly Gay MS Mayoral Candidate Marco McMillian Found, Homicide Suspected

The family of openly gay mayoral candidate Marco McMillian, who was found dead last week, are saying he was beaten, dragged and set afire. The coroner is disputing their position, saying that was not the reason for his death, according to CNN.

Marco McMillian’s family issued a statement on Sunday saying, “We feel this was not a random act of violence based on the condition of the body when it was found. Marco, nor anyone, should have their lives end in this manner.” The family said they learned the details of his murder from the coroner.

McMillian’s body was found Wednesday near the Mississippi River, west of Clarksdale, one day after he was reported missing. Lawrence Reed, 22, of Clarksdale, was charged with his murder. The Coahoma Sheriff’s Department said it is not investigating the murder as a hate crime, but released no other statement about Marco McMillian’s death.

Italian Priest Andrea Maggi Burns Photo of Benedict XVI, Compares Him to Concordia Captain Schettino

Father Andrea Maggi burns photo of Benedict XVI in the middle of Sunday mass in the northern Italy village of Castel Vittorio in Liguria, saying the former pope was “like the Captain Calamity of the Concordia who had abandoned his ship.” In other words, Father Andrea Maggi accused him of deserting the church.

Father Maggi explained his actions by saying: ‘a shepherd shouldn’t abandon his flock.’ Castel Vittorio mayor, Gianstefano Orengo, who was summoned to tackle the errant priest said: ‘It was a shocking gesture. ’I understand that Don Andrea is going through a delicate period from a psychological point of view.’

The local bishop said he was ‘mortified’ by the ‘reprehensible and grave disturbance of ecclesial communion. He said: ‘I am mortified by the actions of Father Andrea, who in other respects has proved a priest who is generous and sensitive in his pastoral conduct. ’The gesture has caused confusion among the parishioners- many left the church.’ But Don Maggi remained defiant saying he ‘had done the right thing’. He told La Repubblica: ‘I had said to myself the day that he goes I will burn this.’

While other clergy claim to found the Pope’s retirement courageous, Don Maggi insisted: ‘I thought to myself, “Are you the Pope or are you Captain Schettino of the Concordia who abandoned his ship?”‘If eight years was enough of being Pope, he didn’t need to accept it. He created 90 cardinals, he wasn’t some novice or ingenue, who didn’t know what they were getting into.’ Source

Richard Hinds, 19, of Memphis, Tenn., accused of strangling an Irish exchange student in Tokyo told a Japanese court Monday that he did not intend to kill her but acknowledged he was with her the night she died. Richard Hinds denied intentionally suffocating Nicola Furlong May 24, 2012, in a Tokyo hotel room, saying he lightly pressed her neck while they had sex. The defense’s position is that Nicola Furlong died of an overdose of alcohol and drugs. The prosecution maintains she was strangled with a towel by Richard Hinds. The verdict is scheduled to be announced March 19. James Blackston, who allegedly borrowed wheelchairs with Richard Hinds to take the two women to their hotel rooms, is facing a maximum of four years on charges of sexually assaulting Nicola Furlong’s friend. 4.  GERALDO RIVERA TAKES AIMS AT NEWARK MAYOR CORY BOOKER’S ‘ENDLESS TWEETS’

GOP Senate hopeful and Fox News host Geraldo Rivera took a swipe at Newark mayor Cory Booker for his famous use of Twitter, to question his humility.

Um, this is clearly a case of the pot cursing the kettle. Since Geraldo Rivera has always engaged in self-promotion. Maybe not to the same extent today as he did in earlier years. Clearly he is in a very weak position to consider a run for the Senate. But a pair of polls released last month showed Rivera in a weak starting position. A Monmouth University poll showed 65 percent of New Jersey voters indicated it is unlikely that they will back Rivera in 2014. A Quinnipiac University poll showed Booker, who is the frontrunner for the Democratic nomination, shellacking Geraldo Rivera in a hypothetical general election match-up. Sounds like sour grapes. ……………………………………………………………………………………………………….
