De’Marquise Elkins Facing 1st Degree Murder in Death of 13 Month Old Baby

The mother and aunt of alleged baby-killer De’Marquise Elkins were arrested on charges they lied to the authorities. Karimah Elkins, 36, and Katrina Elkins, 33, were booked into the Glynn County jail on Tuesday on charges of making false statements to police.

Karimah Elkins is the mother of De’Marquise Elkins, who is the suspected trigger-man in the murder of 13-month-old Antonio Santiago in the Brunswick GA shooting. The AJC reports, Glynn County Police Chief Matt Doering told reporters Tuesday that the women gave investigators new information that led them to a pond where they found a handgun. That handgun is currently being tested to determine if it was used in the slaying.

Karimah and Katrina Elkins, Mom and Aunt of Antonio Santiago’s Alleged Murderer, Arrested (MyFox8)

Katrina Elkins is the suspect’s aunt, who reportedly told The Associated Press and other media on Saturday that her nephew couldn’t have killed the child because he was at her house having breakfast.

Antonio Santiago’s mother, Sherry West, identified De’Marquise Elkins in a police photo lineup as her son’s killer. Dominique Lang, 15, was also charged in Antonio Santiago’s murder.

Um, Karimah Elkins was in court yesterday telling her son she loved him. That’s all the while lying to authorities. Some role model. As they say, the fruit never falls far from the tree, does it?

    Good.

But you are keeping this “narrow”, rather than making any inferences about larger societal / racial issues – the way that Trayvon/Zimmerman brought forth.

Constructive Feedback — Society didn’t force this woman and her children to become a nuisance. Mother and daughter had their bail hearing put on hold because of their past. Trayvon Martin situation is different. He had no criminal record and George Zimmerman shot him.
