The Navajo Nation is demanding an apology from “Mike & Molly” after a “racist” joke calling Native Americans ‘drunks’ aired on the CBS comedy show. Rondi Reed, who plays Mike’s mother Margaret ‘Peggy’ Biggs on the show, said during the episode, “Arizona? Why would I move to Arizona? It’s nothing but a furnace full of drunk Indians.” Ouch. Can’t imagine how the show’s writers and producer expected that comment to go over well with anyone.

The Navajo Nation occupies portions of northeastern Arizona, southeastern Utah and northwester New Mexico. They are demanding an apology from CBS. TMZ reports a representative for the Navajo Nation said, “For a show like this displaying us in a negative light is just unacceptable, they are taking a shot at the entire state of Arizona and its indigenous people. An apology would be the right thing to do, but some damage done can’t be fixed in an apology.”
