Cumulus Media Network and Reach Media have partnered to fill Michael Baisden’s time slot with ‘The Skip Murphy in the Afternoon Show’ starting April 1.

The show will begin broadcasting nationwide from 3-7 p.m. EST. Skip Murphy will team with Jasmine Sanders as his co-host. The program will feature celebrity guests and will play Urban and R&B hits from 80s, 90s and today.

Skip Murphy brings over 30 years experience to the show. Some will be happy that he will be filling that time slot, but I suspect, Michael Baisden fans won’t be thrilled.

I will miss Michael Baisden, but I love Skip Murphy, I listened to him in Dallas from high school to my early 30’s before his morning team was replaced. Welcome back skip.

    • MsMurray — Skip Murphy has been in the business for a long time. That’s why I am puzzled why some black media sites are dismissing him as a nobody. I seriously doubt Cumulus and Reach Media would enter a partnership deal with a nobody.

I agree. He and his team brought laughter every morning to DFW. Till this day I am unable to listen to the radio station he was on in Dallas it just isn’t the same. He brings a family feel to radio. I thought his children were my friends the way he talked about them(Ericka,TomTom and wife Cynthia). I know he will do great things on a nationwide level. I wish his morning show could have done that, but he will do well. I know Steve Harvey and Rickey Smiley both started radio careers in DFW and were in competition with Skip Murphy’s morning show and did not do well against Skip in our area, the Skip Murphy morning team was just funnier. And they ended with a prayer. Something Rickey and Steve did not do until after Skip left DFW airwaves. It wasn’t until they were broadcast in other areas that it changed for them. So it was a pleasure to read he was back on the air, too bad Sam, Nanette, Chris and the Whigg couldn’t be with him.
