BOSTON MARATHON BOMBS: The New York Post is reporting 12 people are dead, more injured at the finish line of the Boston Marathon but Boston Police said three are dead, over 100 injured. There are reports of a fire at the JFK Library in Boston.
Two explosions went off near the finish line. Law enforcement officials said the first explosion occurred in the lobby of the Fairmont Hotel. The Boston Marathon issued a statement saying two bombs went off near the Boston Marathon finish line.
Some believe it was a small improvised explosive device. It should be noted that the Boston Marathon bombing occurred close to the anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing. The Boston Marathon said the following on its Facebook page:
“There were two bombs that exploded near the finish line in today’s Boston Marathon. We are working with law enforcement to understand what exactly has happened.”
UPDATE#1: Pennsylvania Avenue in front of the White House has been closed. No foot traffic. The Boston Marathon explosion occurred as winners were crossing the finished line. This has far-reaching effects.
UPDATE#2: USA Today reports two more explosives being dismantled at the Boston Marathon.
