White House Confirms Syrian Regime Used Chemical Weapons, Including Sarin

BREAKING:  The White House has released a letter sent to congressional leaders Thursday, saying it has evidence the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad used chemical weapons.

“Our intelligence community does assess with varying degrees of confidence that the Syrian regime has used chemical weapons on a small scale in Syria, specifically the agent sarin,” the letter reads.

President Obama has said in the past that the use of chemical weapons by the Syrian regime would be a ‘red line’ that could trigger a new phase of intervention in the civil war, which has been underway for two years.

The White House also said facts are needed to bolster its findings. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel also confirmed the findings.
