Gunman, Six People Killed in Santa Monica Shooting Rampage, One Person in Custody

URGENT:  The gunman and six people were killed during a Santa Monica shooting rampage.  The suspected gunman was killed in a shootout with police. There is still another suspect in custody. The gunman who was killed was wearing a ballistics vest.

At a Friday afternoon press conference, Santa Monica Police Chief Jacqueline Seabrooks said the shooter was killed on the campus of Santa Monica College after he tried to evade police responding to multiple shootings near the college.

Seabrooks said the shooting rampage began at a house in Santa Monica before he made his way to the college. Two people were killed at a house located on Yorkshire Avenue, which caught fire. Two more people were killed as he moved towards the college campus and two more were killed on the campus.

The gunman, identified as 25 to 30 years old, was dressed all in black. Stay tuned for updates.
