Tyler Perry is donating $50,000 to help Michael Patterson, a good Samaritan, who was left paralyzed from the waist down after risking his life to save four year old Javaeh Jones struggling to stay afloat in a creek at the Silver Comet Trail. Patterson hit his head, broke his neck in three places and severed his spine after diving into the creek, according to his fundraising page.

Michael Patterson has contracted double pneumonia and is still fighting to stay alive. His family maintains a Facebook page, Friends of Mike Patterson, which has attracted more than 47,000 followers. The family thanked Tyler Perry for his generous donation on the Facebook page.
