Chicago Gun Violence: Chicago police are looking for two suspects after 4-year-old Khalise Weatherspoon was shot as she played near her grandmother’s house in the Marquette Park neighborhood. A 31-year-old man was also wounded in the shooting that occurred at the intersection of West 71st and South Rockwell streets at about 4:56 p.m., the Chicago Tribune reports.
Two male shooters came out of an alley and fired several rounds, Zala said. The girl was struck in the abdomen and taken by a neighbor to Holy Cross Hospital, Zala said.
She was later transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she was listed in good condition, according to the Chicago Fire Department’s news office.
The man sustained a gunshot wound to the buttocks and was taken to Holy Cross Hospital.
Police are investigating whether the two victims were unintended targets, a police source said. No suspects were in custody this morning, News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada said. Source: Chicago Tribune
