***BREAKING: Jared Remy arraigned in murder of girlfriend Jennifer Martel, held without bond.***
UPDATED: Jared Remy, the son of Boston Red Sox commentator Jerry Remy, was arrested in Waltham, Mass., in the stabbing death of girlfriend, Jennifer Martel, WHDH reports. He was previously arrested for assaulting her. The Boston Globe reports, Martel was found on the patio of their Waltham apartment, with multiple stab wounds, officials said.
Remy was released on personal recognizance on Wednesday. Middlesex District Attorney Marian T. Ryan said her office recommended Remy’s release on personal recognizance based, in part, on a conversation prosecutors had with Martel and with Waltham police.
“Mr. Remy was released on personal recognizance with a bail warning and a no abuse order,’’ Ryan said. “The bail recommendation on Wednesday was based on the totality of the circumstances, the singular [criminal charge] count in the case as well as conversations with the investigasting officer – as well as Miss Martel.’’ Source: Boston.com
Jared Remy was released on his own recognizance Wednesday, and is expected to be arraigned this morning. People have done a whole lot less and weren’t released on their own recognizance. Why was he allowed to leave after being accused of murder? Sounds a lot like George Zimmerman being released by Sanford police after murdering Trayvon Martin.
