Struggling Michiganders are about to be dealt another blow, thanks to the House and Senate, which passed a bill that would deny unemployment benefits to people who refuse to take a drug test required by employers. The bill would also require community service for people receiving government assistance. So, the 1 percenters get tax breaks, while the poor get stomped on.
The Detroit Free Press reports the drug testing bill “would deny unemployment benefits to people who either refused to take a drug test required by an employee or tested positive.
The community service bill would require “people receiving food stamps or other welfare benefits to perform community service in order to get the money.” Shouldn’t the drug testing start with those same lawmakers and those wealthy business owners getting government benefits too?
