Florida Secretary of State Ken Detzner is suspending the state’s efforts to remove noncitizens from the voter rolls due to changes in the federal database, known as SAVE, which is used to check the citizenship status of voters until 2015. If Gov. Rick Scott had his way, all Democrats would be purged from the his state’s voter rolls.
Don’t be lulled into thinking they won’t try to muck up the system right in time for the 2014 midterm elections and most certainly in time for the presidential elections. This is just a hiccup in their scheme.
You will recall there were previous efforts to purge voter rolls ahead of the 2012 presidential election. Political groups and activists said the removals disproportionately targeted black and Hispanic voters — both groups more likely to vote Democratic.
