Australia Suspends Visas for Ebola Hot Zones to Keep Out Disease

Australia is suspending visas for people from Ebola hot zones such as Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, in an attempt to keep out the deadly virus.

Non-permanent and temporary visas have been canceled for people who are not yet traveling to Australia. Permanent residents who have not yet arrived in Australia will have to submit to a 21-day quarantine before departure. Additionally, no new visa applications will be processed.

Australia has donated US$16 million to fight the Ebola virus but refuses to send personnel until it is able to get guarantess that any Australian national who became infected in Africa received adequate medical treatment.
